Dear Parents & Carers of the Roxburgh Park Primary School Community,
School Photos We have some terrific photos of students framed and displayed in the school corridor near the front office. Parents are welcome to view.
Thank you to Tom Loach, the photographer who captured our children at their brilliant best.
Update on the back gate There will be a new housing estate developed near both the secondary and primary school sites soon. This has created inconvenience to students/families who have used this land to cross in the past. It is private land and will be developed. I have spoken to the Principal of Roxburgh College and we agree that the exisiting gate on the secondary site will be relocated to the fence between the primary and secondary schools to enable students to access.
Moving from primary school to secondary school
Moving from primary to secondary school is a big step. Find out what's involved in the transition process, and what you and your family need to know.

Summer Water Safety
At the Pool Nothing beats a dip in the backyard pool or local swimming pool. It’s a great way to cool off, especially on a really hot day. Remember:
Never leave children unsupervised near a pool. Supervision means constant visual contact, not the occasional glance. Even in a supervised public pool, never take your eyes off your child while they are swimming. If your child is under five, you should be within arm’s reach. Actively participating in your child’s play will help make things safe.
If you leave the pool or water area, even for a moment, take your child with you.
If you have a backyard pool, make sure your pool fence and gate are in good working order. Pool fences should have a self-closing and self-latching gate, and these should be regularly checked and maintained.
Empty paddling pools when they are not in use. Empty baths, basins, sinks, buckets and troughs immediately after use.

Accepting Myself Throughout the next three weeks, teachers will be asking the
students to focus on the You Can Do It! focus “Accepting
Myself”. The You Can Do It! program defines Accepting Myself
thinking as “not thinking badly of myself when I make a mistake”.
Making mistakes is something we all do. However, if a student
berates themselves every time they make an error, then pretty soon
the student may not only lose confidence but give up trying
altogether for fear of making another mistake.
Another thing to consider is that through the mistake process we
learn. Making a mistake often involves us back tracking, assessing
what went wrong and correcting it, which tends to stick in our
memory much more than achieving something quickly and moving
on.
So while we don’t encourage students to try to make mistakes, we
should see mistakes as something to be taken advantage of when
they happen.
Together, we all can do it!

games with planned and unplanned play, quiet time, homework time and a healthy snack.
While in before and after school care, the children enjoy participating in arts and craft, cooking

LAST weeks winner
To my surprise as I walked slowly into the
school gates I anxiously realized it was the
Jump Rope for Heart……luckily I had a gold
coin donation in my pocket. Phew!

To my surprise I tripped over my shoe laces
and bumped into a fat man. This created a
domino effect of falling people. Someone
yelled loudly and the bus swerved trying not
to hit him.

Week 5: quietly…
On Special Person and Grandparents Day I ate cultural
food. No one came to see me but I had fun, I played
with Lego.
My culture is Australian. My parents were born in
Lebanon. My parents background in Lebanese.
I really had fun. I love my family and my family loves
me too.

Yummy! In the afternoon we had a class party. We sang
very loud and danced and played party games. Soon if
we did some good dancing we get to have a party snack.
The crazy dancing was tiring but the games were
challenging I liked the party games because they were
hard. The party snacks were delicious. After a while
Miss Thompson ordered chips from the fish and chip
shop. When the hot chips came every one screamed! I
blocked my ears because it was too loud. Next we ate
the yummy chips. That was the end of the class party. I
had a incredible time!
