• Assess opportunities for successful development or expansion of non-highway transportation modes, such as bicycle, pedestrian and transit access

• Evaluate past/current Municipal Comprehensive Plans to identify future growth areas, current and proposed future land use and municipal ordinances to ensure future land uses and transportation conditions are in sync

• Provide a framework for identifying, prioritizing and funding future transportation improvements within the corridor

• Balance economic growth, land use, local values and quality of life with transportation services and needs

• Give the communities and MaineDOT a long-term strategy for coordinating growth and transportation decisions

• Develop a plan to maintain or improve the mobility, safety, economic vitality and sense of community of the corridor within available transportation and other funding sources

History of Growth Maps

• Steady increase in buildings

• Slight sprawl along the Route 129/130 corridor

• Additional buildings likely tied to additional homes and places of work

• All of this leads to additional travel and stress on the road
