Project Scope
• Intersection of Route 129 and Route 1B in Damariscotta to Thompson Inn Road in South Bristol• 13 miles
• Intersection of Route 129 and Route 130 in Bristol to the Fire Station in New Harbor• 9 miles
Purpose of the Plan
• Bring about a better understanding of the relationship between local land use planning efforts and transportation, and in particular how land use affects the mobility and safety of the highways within the Study Area
• Assess opportunities for successful development or expansion of non-highway transportation modes, such as bicycle, pedestrian and transit access
• Evaluate past/current Municipal Comprehensive Plans to identify future growth areas, current and proposed future land use and municipal ordinances to ensure future land uses and transportation conditions are in sync
• Provide a framework for identifying, prioritizing and funding future transportation improvements within the corridor
• Balance economic growth, land use, local values and quality of life with transportation services and needs
• Give the communities and MaineDOT a long-term strategy for coordinating growth and transportation decisions
• Develop a plan to maintain or improve the mobility, safety, economic vitality and sense of community of the corridor within available transportation and other funding sources
Purpose of this Meeting
• Provide an overview of existing conditions
• Solicit public comments regarding current conditions, safety concerns and future development within the Study Area
• Begin discussions about future conditions

The following slides are a small portion of the data that will be used by the Advisory Committee to develop the multimodal corridor management plan.
The data is representative of a few factors within the region and will be used throughout the process to develop a fuller process with the Advisory Committee.

• Relatively constant since 2011 with a slight downward trend-- the exception being Damariscotta and South Bristol
• Large decrease in Damariscotta
• Small increase in South Bristol

• Damariscotta has 31.4% of the population in the 5-34 years age brackets
• Bristol has 17.8% of the population in the 5-34 years age brackets
• South Bristol has 16.8% of the population in the 5-34 years age brackets
• Damariscotta’s population age is fairly well-distributed while Bristol and South Bristol have a larger percentage in the higher age brackets

History of Growth Maps
• Steady increase in buildings
• Slight sprawl along the Route 129/130 corridor
• Additional buildings likely tied to additional homes and places of work
• All of this leads to additional travel and stress on the road
Employment
• Two of the top three and three of the top ten private employers in Lincoln County are accessed via Route 129/130
• In 2013, the section of Route 129 north of Miles Hospital saw an average of 1,260 trips per day more than the rest of Route 129/130*
