Delivering world-class service and support is key to ensuringcustomer success and satisfaction. That’s the goal of theFlowserve Rotating Equipment Specialist (RES) program, theindustry’s most comprehensive and in-depth employeedevelopment initiative.

This broad-ranging training program strengthens the rotatingequipment expertise of Flowserve sales engineers, whilereinforcing other “soft” skills such as communication, timemanagement and business fundamentals. The RES programrequires Flowserve engineers to update their skills andproduct knowledge on a regular basis. By establishing thisglobal training standard, Flowserve provides more consistentservice and support for customers around the world.

Providing exceptional knowledge andsupport on a global basisThe goal of the RES program is to achieve a high level ofconsistent customer support. That goal is particularly difficultwhen customers are multinational companies with facilitiesaround the globe.

The RES program is a logical extension of the Flowservecommitment to providing the highest level of operationalexcellence—including technical service, applicationengineering and quick response on repairs. Thanks to the RESprogram, Flowserve sales engineers provide customers withthe same outstanding engineering knowledge, service andsupport, regardless of their location.

Delivering the RES advantageFlowserve sales engineers are known for their outstandingproduct knowledge and willingness to go the extra mile forcustomers. The RES program demonstrates Flowserve

dedication to achieving continually higher standardsfor customer service and support. Thiscomprehensive training program enables salesengineers to better help customers by showing howto apply Flowserve technology and solutions in themost effective ways possible.

The RES program is also a strategic investment inFlowserve people. Sales engineers enjoy the benefitsof outstanding training and personal development,helping them advance their careers and earninggreater respect from both peers and customers. Four levels of rotating equipmentexpertiseThe RES program consists of four levels of qualification.Courses vary in length from eight to 40 hours, with a totaltime commitment ranging from 20 days for RES 1 tomore than 100 days for RES 4. Training is tracked on anindividual basis and conducted in the laboratory, online, inthe classroom and through field experience. Progress isevaluated as part of each engineer’s performanceappraisal process, and advancement from level to level ismonitored through a rigorous testing process.

Because of the in-depth nature of the training, only 10percent of RES participants are targeted for RES 3qualification. They support lower-level RES engineers andprovide benchmarking in specific regions or across acustomer’s organization. RES 4 is made up of an evenmore elite group of engineers, focusing on structural andorganizational issues at the highest levels for globalcustomers.
