The Thompson Family Home 11 Prospect Street

Eleven Prospect St. has been the Thompson family home for over 50 years. Perched high atop a hilltop, with stunning views of Silver Lake and the town of Port Dover, this Victorian home was originally built circa 1884. The home is constructed of triple red brick and the detailed gingerbread found on this home was featured in “The Gaiety of Gables – Ontario’s Architectural Folk Art”, published in 1974. Although Eleven Prospect was built as a modest farmhouse-style home, you will notice that the original entry at the south-west side of the property welcomes guests via a grand entrance with striking cranberry glass. Other areas of the home demonstrate the eclectic vision of the original builders and owners. Eleven Prospect has been renovated fully in 2016 to incorporate increased closet and storage space, removal of interior walls to create an open-concept layout in the main living area, the inclusion of a main floor gym, and many modern touches with a classical twist.

Andrew and Laura Kicak 93 Prospect Street

The Battersby House is one of Port Dover’s original heritage homes, predating Canadian Confederation and it has been impeccably restored to its original splendour by the current owners. Boasting original windows, original marble fireplaces from England, soaring ceilings, exposed brick, tin cove mouldings, and countless other architectural features, the restoration honours the original beauty of the home while bringing it up to today’s standards. Situated on over two acres fronting onto the Lynn River with the original board and batten barn, the Battersby House captures the spirit of the past. The gingerbread detailed 14 column front porch has been meticulously restored to the original beauty and is ready to welcome guests for years to come...

Shirley and Andre Nolet 162 Prospect Street

Andre and Shirley Nolet purchased this property in 1996. The house was the original Port Dover Post Office in the 1830’s. The Nolet’s have extensively renovated the original 1901 barn next to the house. The barn now has three liveable floors filled with fascinating collectables, each with its own story, obtained from many trips around the world. The Nolet’s will have just returned from a trip up the Amazon River in order to welcome you to experience this unique building. Be prepared to spend extra time at this stop.

Nancy and David Cartwright 234 Schooner Drive

A modern bungalow suited for modern Zoomers. Built in 2018 with all the conveniences for easy living. Entering at the front door, you are greeted by a 5-foot wide hallway that continues into the great room with cathedral ceiling and a view of the golf course. To the left of the front door is a spacious dining room, which leads to the server and the kitchen. Everything needed is located on the main floor however; there is a basement if grandchildren are visiting. Although a condo with grass cutting and snow removal included, the bungalow sits on its own 110’ x 55’ lot. A comfortable house to enjoy.

James and Becky Torio 602 Main Street

This extraordinary century building is regarded as one of Port Dover’s most storied historical addresses. Built in 1855 by Walker Powell, son of Israel W. Powell - a local shipbuilder and one of the founding fathers of the Town of Port Dover, this charming Victorian-style building has been home to some of the town’s leading families. It has also seen duty as a medical clinic, a rooming house, a bed and breakfast, and a restaurant. There can be little doubt however that the building’s most joyous history traces to the years it served as ‘Miss John’s Birthing House’. Many happy souls began their life journey right at 602 Main Street in Port Dover.
