Controlled vocabularies and knowledge organisation for the digital humanitiesControlled vocabularies were traditionally viewed as relatively stagnant lists of terms to be used for organising physical library collections. Presently, controlled vocabularies are understood as dynamic knowledge organisation systems and have found multiple applications in digital libraries, business information systems and research infrastructures. On the other hand, the integration of controlled vocabularies in the Semantic Web requires adopting a concept-centric approach to the modelling of controlled vocabularies and their application in describing and linking to datasets, as well as facilitating multilingual information retrieval.
This workshop aims at exchanging experiences and applications of controlled vocabularies for digital humanities research and projects, including in research infrastructures, libraries and other cultural heritage institutions focussed on social sciences, arts and humanities. The topics to be addressed in the workshop include, among others:
