In this presentation, you’ll learn:• How to use standard quotations in APA
format.• When and how to use block quotations in APA
format.
When adding quotations to your paper, double space between lines of quotations and add quotation marks.
Direct quotes require the page number.
“If I had made one student a little braver.” (Wagner, 2010, p.23).
Quotations
(American Psychological Association, 2010, p. 170)
• If quote is more than 40 words, use a block quotation. • Indent a block quote ½ inch from the left margin.• No quotation marks are needed for a block quote.• Double space between the quote.
Example:
This is the main body of the paper before the block quote. It’s double spaced.
Baccalaureate student volunteers at the (name) University School of (name) will be solicited to participate in the study. A total of 150 students with cold symptoms will be selected using Kleenex Screening text . This sample will then be randomly divided into three groups of 50 each. The cold remedies will be randomly assigned to the groups. (Berk, 2009, p. 120)
