Almost 99% of California is considered abnormally dry or worse; almost two-thirds of the state is in extreme drought. In January 2014, the Governor declared a statewide drought emergency and urged all residents and businesses to reduce water consumption by 20%. Despite the early season rainfall, California is still in a drought. The City of Oxnard wants to remind everyone to continue conservation efforts. Water conservation measures: 1. Outdoor watering not more than twice a week. 2. No irrigation runoff. 3. No washing of hard surfaces. 4. No car washing without a bucket and equipped with a self-closing nozzle. 5. Restaurants shall serve drinking water only upon request by customer and shall post notices of water shortage.
