This is our Stewardship theme for our October Campaign

ldquoBearing Fruit for Jesusrdquo is a snapshot of our discipleship

All of us are called to bear good fruit for Jesus

Jesus tells us that good fruit is the result of abiding in Jesus

This abiding is the faith we have in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior

We must stay connected to Jesus his teaching and his grace

Jesus fills us with the grace of God the Holy Spirit transforms us and directs us into a lifestyle of good works and bearing good fruit

The fruit of the Spirit includes

LOVE we are called to fulfill the greatest commandmentmdashldquoyou shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind This is the greatest and first commandment And a second is like it you shall love your neighbor as yourselfrdquo Matthew 2237-38

JOY we are called to experience and share Godrsquos joy This is the heart of the beatitudesmdashreceiving Godrsquos blessings in this world Godrsquos blesses us with many good gifts This is why we can learn a lifestyle of joy (rejoicing and celebrating Godrsquos good gifts)

PEACE we are called to experience and pass the peace of Jesus Christ Peace comes the Hebrew word ldquoShalomrdquo It means more than the secular idea of peace as the ab-sence of war Shalom means the full salvation of Godmdashreconciliation with the God of our creation and with all humanity


PATIENCE we are called to be patient with others We must develop this character of peace with our neighbors Change takes time God was and is patient with us as we grow and develop in our faith journey We need to give this same gift to others

KINDNESS we are called to practice kindness to all Kindness includes repentance forgiveness and reconciliation with all people It is a holy calling to understand that we are all sinners in the need of grace It is the acceptance of others as forgiven as co-pilgrims on the Christian journey as true sisters and brothers in the community of faith

GENEROSITY we are called to give as Christ has given Christ gave his life for the salvation of all people We are encouraged to bear this same kind of faithmdashself-sacrificing cheerful and hopeful We serve a generous God God expects us to be gen-erous with our time talents presence and money

FAITHFULNESS we are called to mirror Godrsquos faithfulness Throughout the Bible God demonstrates His ldquohessedrdquo faithfulness This means that God was steadfast long suffering and always present to us This is the heart of Godrsquos love towards us God made covenant with us and promises to always maintain his solemn agreement

GENTLENESS we are called to be humble and gentle with all people There is no room for the proud and arrogant among the faithful disciples The way of Christ is the suffering servant As Christ knelt to wash the disciplesrsquo feet (a job reserved for serv-ants) we must do the same to others

SELF-CONTROL we are called to maintain loving control of ourselves in spite of the anxiety stress or negative circumstances of our everyday life We must conquer the power of sin in our lifemdashallow the grace of Christ to set us free We must also conquer the power of self in our mindsmdashallow the Holy Spirit to tame the desire to do every-thing ldquoMy wayrdquo Christ calls us to a community of self-controlmdashwhere we truly prac-tice love of neighbor

This is what our stewardship month is really about bearing fruit for Jesus We need to grow as disciples We need to mature We need to share good fruit We need to make pledges for our 2016 ministries to continue

Annual Battlefield half marathon Saturday November 7 2015

WATTS has been selected by Frederick County Parks and Recreation to be the Major Beneficiary of the proceeds of this annual race Last year our share was over $21000 that is 25 of our yearly budget There is no such thing as a free lunch and to earn these rewards WATTS has to pro-vide 150 volunteers to help If you participated last fall you know that the event was a lot of fun things went well and the runners and volunteers came away with such good feelings that the pre-registration this year are ahead of where we were at this time last year

Aluminum to Brass is the collection of aluminum cans for recycling to help fund the music programs A truck is available the first Sunday of every month It is located beside the old bank across from the church

I pray that it has been a year of joy and intense fellowship with God for

each of you I pray your Faith Journey has been the best exper ience

you have ever had I personally have reflected on where God has led me

this past year and what I want to do with this revelation and my Spiritual

growth Looking back at my journey I see many years of passive pray-

er service and giving to the glory of God My stewardship was lacking

I knew God and gave to our church what I felt was okay but I sure did-

nrsquot want to put myself in any situations that would impact my time or

my pocketbook and maybe do without But then I took a disciple class

and then a few Bible studies and it really penetrated my faith walk and

my heart You see God answered lots of my prayers but I didnrsquot always

recognize God as the source of those answered prayers or needs He

came through for me when times were tough financially and when I was

lacking in my faith and spiritual growth But as my journey of faith

grew I recognized how much I needed God and how he was always there

in times of need When the time came to give of my resources I knew

that I could count on God for my blessings to provide what I need By

giving to the ministry of our Church with my tithes praying for His

guidance in my daily life and letting God lead me on this faith jour-

ney to reach out to serve those in need I was trusting God I pray

that you have had that same experience ndash to feel Godrsquos blessings in your

life when times are tough as well as when they are at the top of the

mountain God Always Knows What Is Best He wants you to put

your trust and faith in Him Praise Him for His blessings and listen to

His answers when you ask for His guidance Our Church has many areas

that we can witness as a congregation and as an individual to our faith

As you prayerfully consider where GOD has led you this year ndash I hope it

will be a barometer to how you respond to his call in the giving of your

tithes your service your presence and your prayers
