As Dean of the College of Public Health:
Initiated the curriculum review of the college to be relevant and responsive to the changing needs of the stakeholders. Nine out of twelve academic programs are undergoing review. Three programs completed the review and will be revised accordingly.
Implemented the outcome based education (OBE) at the college to be compliant

to the Asian University Network (AUN) Standard. Almost 80% of the academic courses are OBE compliant.
Supported the academic-related policy decisions by the CPH council regarding passing cut-off score policy for comprehensive examination, admission criteria and submission of grades
Initiated the digitalization of all the records of the office of the college secretary for more efficient, systematic, space-saving and secure record keeping. At present, roughly 30% are complete.
Supported the implementation of process improvements for efficient and orderly delivery of services of the office of the college secretary.
Initiated the granting of administrative load of 3 units and a modest honorarium to the research coordinator as an incentive to the amount of work devoted to the position. This was eventually approved and upheld by the UP Chancellor. The research coordinator established the CPH Research Office Bulletin to streamline the dissemination of research related information. These strategies enhanced the organizational support for constituents’ researchers.
Spearheaded the sponsoring of public health issues in peer reviewed journals and supported the conduct of research forum. Thus, providing research dissemination opportunities to faculty, REPS and students. This avenue to publish facilitated the tenure appointment of several faculty members. A total of 34 articles were published in Acta medica Philippina and Philippine Journal of Health Research and Development in 2014-2015. Forty four articles were already submitted to the Acta Medica Philippina, Philippine Journal of Health Research and Development and Southeast Asian Journal of Tropical Medicine and Public Health in 2016.
Supported the capacity building for research ethics. 86% of the faculty and 91% of REPS had training in research ethics. Research ethics is incorporated to all research methods courses. Seminar in research ethics is also conducted for undergraduate students
Supported the institutionalized participation in UP Manila Research Ethics Board and active involvement of the research coordinator in research ethics policy development. Panel 5b was formed for the undergraduate researches in 2015 and the research committee participated in other UPMREB panels as alternate members.
Initiated the proposal for the infrastructure improvement of the library, office of the college secretary, faculty lounge and student lounge. The faculty and student lounges are already completed, the rest are currently ongoing renovation.
Implemented the renovation of the department laboratories (microbiology, parasitology and nutrition), all of which are currently ongoing.
Spearheaded the proposal for the construction of computer laboratory and able to solicit funding from the UP president. The construction is ongoing.
Initiated the proposal for the construction of new building at the annex II area. Still ongoing sourcing of funds.
Supported the establishment of center for equity and health. Gave necessary logistics and convened a team to join the center. Still for institutionalization and implementation
Initiated the provision of LCD to all rooms in the college. Ongoing procurement of the equipment using own college funds and not from UP Manila budget.
Initiated the procurement of a van through the college foundation. The van is being used for college activities.
Contributed to the expense reduction of the college to as much as Php 600,000.00/year by initiating policies on water conservation and repair of pipe leaks and ensuring implementation of these policies.
Facilitated the forging collaboration with various universities through the initiatives of the several faculty members. These are Teikyu University, Ryukus University, University of Arizona, University of Sydney, and Praboromarajchanok Institute for Health Workforce Development, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand.
This also paved the way for faculty and student exchange programs for professional development.

Initiated the invitation of visiting and adjunct professors through the existing collaboration of each department to different institutions. These professors were able to address the needed expertise in the college.
Institutionalized the conduct of HLGP as new extension service of the College and department of Health Promotion Education as the lead department. This contributed to income generation and to new partnerships.
Initiated the allocation of budget for professional development of Faculty, REPS and staff at the college level. Encouraged the different departments to have the same budget allocation at the department levels.
Supported the pursuit for higher education of 14 faculty and 5 REPS. Among the faculty members, 3 and 2 finished MS and PhD respectively.
Able to make the college financially independent in some aspects due to income generation through the college foundation. The college used these funds to procure equipment, give incentives to staff and support other operating expenses.
Provided support to the undergraduate and graduate students of CPH for their active participation in the recent 2015 COHRED Global Forum on Research and Innovation for Health with the theme “People at the Center for Health Research and Innovation” delivered awareness in building health innovation partnerships, a strategic partnership that will help address the challenges and opportunities of health
Initiated the collaboration between the Department of Health – Health Human Resource Development Bureau (DOH-HHDRB) and UPM-CPH in embarking on the Public Health Associates (PHA) Deployment Program that seeks to contribute to the strengthening of the public health service delivery in the priority provinces in the country and to address the Return Service Agreement (RSA) concerns of the students.
As Department Chair of the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health:
Spearheaded the culture of financial independence from CPH/ UPM funds by generating adequate funds from DEOH extension services to finance its internal needs and to contribute to CPH projects as necessary:
Spearheaded the renovation facilities of DEOH and CPH annex building using DEOH funds for the enhancement of teaching capabilities and learning experiences of students:
o Renovation of DEOH building – improvement of faculty and staff offices, creation of conference room; expansion of classroom, laboratory and library areas for students; improvement of walkway and pocket garden
o Renovation of CPH ANNEX 2 building – repainting of building, renovation of multipurpose hall
o Provision of audiovisual equipment to CPH annex building (LCD for every big room)
o Upgraded DEOH laboratory equipment and materials o Provision of audiovisual (LCD/ TV), computer and internet (LAN) to
DEOH classroom and offices o Provision of new computer equipment to every DEOH faculty
Spearheaded the development of DEOH department policies regarding:

Initiated the development of other post-graduate courses to be offered by the DEOH such as certification course for water refilling station, occupational health and safety for hospital workers, and healthcare waste management. Although only the certification course for water refilling station was actually implemented, the other two training courses will soon be offered.
Spearheaded the development of the certification course for water refilling station in coordination with the DOH policy and implemented actual conduct of the course.
Supported the academic pursuits of co-faculty by approving study leaves and devising a workable substitution plan without compromising the quality conduct of the courses.
Spearheaded yearly strategic planning workshop for DEOH to produce a yearly plan document for proper guidance in the implementation process.
Supported the continuous improvement of teaching skills and strategies of faculty by encouraging attendance to skills development training being conducted by NTTC.
