The Romace of TravelMy most romantic holidays experience was aholiday at Marigot Bay in St. Lucia. We wereferried across 100 yards of water, to an outcropof coconut trees on a white sand of beach at thefoot of a mounotain. By itself it is a mostromantic place, but in this case we were on ourfirst trip as a family, my partner and her 2children, the management upgraded our room tothe best honeymoon suite, two rooms with wraparound balcony on the edge of the bay.

The boatman ferried us in small outboardpowered pirogue, guests joked and shared ourjoy. Cosmos with his fist against his heart,bowed in "respect" and invited us to sail with himaround the bay. In the day we kayaked,snorkeled over the reefs, went sightseeing andstooped at some of the most romantic places onearth. The nights were moonlight affairs with finedinning by the water, gleaming in the moonsreflection, tree frogs singing in the light summer air.

Saint. Lucia is romantic to me because ofthese memories. Even simple things like sittingon the sunset terrace of Poinsettia Apartmentsoverlooking the lagoon marine in the bay below,with the sun setting behind the Golden AppleTree; an orange dappled silhouette. The place isromantic, made complete by breathtakingscenery and by being a family sharing adiscovery and the joy of being together to bondand explore; a new place, a culture, anexperience and ultimately to understand eachother and ourselves. Romance is discovery, Ithought.

The Kasbah in Tangiers, is romantic. It evensounds romantic.
