    The Superintendent is one who loves God

    and models love in his or her daily life. The

    Superintendent is not a selfish person, but is

    sensitive to the need of others. He or she

    is at all times team players, constantly

    seeking God’s will and practicing His perfect

    principles as laid out in the Bible. The

    Superintendent must have good

    organizational and leadership skills.

    INVITE:

    A. Unchurched co-worker

    2. Patiently explain and answer any questions they may have

    3. Invite them to lunch or dinner

    Show that you want people to attend. Go out of your way to show an interest in people.

    PLAN:

    A. Plan a Women’s Lunch during Women’s Month and invite unchurched women.

    B. Plan a Men’s Lunch or Breakfast during Men’s Month and invite unchurched

    men.

    Show that you want people to attend. Go out of your way to show an interest in people.

  • D. TO CREATE A GOOD RECORD KEEPING SYSTEM

    THE IMPORTANCE OF RECORD KEEPING

    • In some churches there is a “General Secretary” with an Assistant

    Secretary, and class secretaries in each class who gather and record

    enrollment and attendance. This report is given to the General

    Secretary each Sunday. The enrollment and attendance records are

    kept in the Sunday School Office.

    • Sunday School records are invaluable. They are frequently reviewed,

    and used by the Superintendent, Teachers, and Outreach staff.

    • Good record keeping enhances the ability to do follow-up

  • E. TO CREATE JOB DESCRIPTIONS FOR EACH STAFF MEMBER

    YOUTH DEPARTMENT LEADER JOB DESCRIPTION 1. Assist the assistant Superintendent in planning and evaluating the Youth Department of the Sunday School.

    2. Be prompt issuing literature and other Sunday school materials to the teachers in your department. If

    other materials are needed share in writing with the Assistance Superintendent so it can be approved by

    the Superintendent.

    3. Provide teachers with an official class roll document to be maintained each Sunday in each class.

    4. Prompt positive outreach to the un-churched.

    5. Provide substitute teachers for classes as needed. Be sure teachers are in place and on time each Sunday

    morning.

    6. Share with the assistance superintendent any needs and concerns for your department in writing.

    7. Set appositive example for others by living as an authentic witness.

  • YOUTH DEPARTMENT LEADER JOB DESCRIPTION

    8. Cooperate with Superintendent and other spiritual leaders on updates that are necessary to improve

    Christian Education.

    9. Work closely with the teachers to be sure job descriptions are understood and implement.

    10. Be sure teachers address different learning styles and improve teaching methods when needed.

    11. Lead each teacher and student in understanding the role of effective evangelism.

    12. Give teachers at the various levels Baptist Doctrine that should be taught by the teachers to the students.

    Students should know at their level what Baptist believe.

    13. Encourage teachers and students to participate in Sunday.

  • MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SUPERINTENDENT

    1. Lead in developing an effective organization that facilitates

    spiritual growth.

    2. Ensure that assistant superintendent, department leaders,

    teachers and secretaries complete all class rolls, attendance

    records and put in writing on a class record envelope the

    number of students present, absent and the amount of money

    collected each Sunday. New envelopes will be presented each

    quarter.

    3. Attend workshops and/or conferences to seek ideas to

    enhance the improvement and growth of the Sunday School.

    4. Present job descriptions to each leader to assist each one as

    they promote and maintain spiritual growth in the Sunday

    School.

    5. Encourage teachers as they strive to improve their teaching

    styles and meet the various needs of their students.

  • MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SUPERINTENDENT

    6. Promote attendance in the Sunday School and Teacher’s

    Meetings and inspire teachers to do the same.

    7. Produce a plan to ensure that a teacher is present each

    Sunday to teach each class. Teachers contact Assistants

    if needed to teach. If there is a problem contact the

    Department Leader as soon as possible.

    8. Meet with leaders and teachers for prayer, planning, and

    fellowship.

    9. Set a positive example for others by living as a witness

    of Christ and by being thoroughly involved in the

    ministry of the Sunday School.

    10. Lead each leader and the student in understanding the

    role of effective evangelism.
