Abstract:

WithfinancialinclusionemergingasamajorpolicyobjectiveinIndia,theabolitionofthe rural –urban divide and the inclusive growth of citizens of India can be achieved byproviding finance to people when they require it. Among the policies related to povertyreduction, microfinance and microcredit programmes occupy a central position. Ruralmicrofinance has occupied center stage as a channel for extending financial services tounbanked segments of the population. The objective of offering women the access tomicrofinance services is that gender inequalities inhibit economicgrowthanddevelopment.There is a growingappreciationof the “empowerment” dimensionof finance, as it cangiveordinarypeopleandthepooraccesstoopportunity.AsforthewholeofIndia,andthereforeinJ&K, the concept of inclusiveness goes beyond the conventional objective of reduction inpovertytoencompassequalityofopportunityforall,aswellaseconomicandsocialmobilityforallwithfavorableactionforminoritiesandwomenthroughpromotingentrepreneurship.Theremustbeequalityofopportunitytoallwithfreedomanddignity,andwithoutsocialorpolitical obstacles.
