ROLE MODEL AFRICAReport on the first edition
• The Role Model Africa Project seeks to engage Africans whose influence span beyond the continent.
• The platform will host African Presidents, Business Magnates, Investors, Religious Leaders, and all who have a made a mark in society and have a story to tell. The concept of this project seeks to be a personality interview that engages the corporate contribution of the person and a wider perspective on Africa.
• The concept is rooted in the idea that Africans can serve as their own Role models by telling their stories and mentoring younger ones.
• The idea is to bring together several key stakeholders to serve as mentors to persons who are in their field or rather interested in taking the similar paths they have engaged in.
About Role Model Africa
Development of the concept
There shall be a mobile application launched, Role Model App. The mobile application
shall be an online interface will bring together Role Models to mentor individuals and
organizations in the quest of sustaining their brands and take the products and services
to several parts of Africa and the Globe at large. There is a platform in place on
www.inventsfoundation.org where, the youth can come into contact with mentors
The Platform is expected to be a television program which will take off as an interview
with a live audience and several episodes will be recorded and later shot on
television. The episodes will be aired on various television channels across the
country, continent and the globe
Objectives
1. Hold a globally recognized platform via our online model, televised show and
our monthly platform attracting audience from various parts of Africa and the
world at large.
2. Provide a mentoring platform to coach and train start-up organizations
3. Provide our audience with direct contact to Role models and mentors
4. Spread the impact African’s are making
Mode
The event shall be held on a quarterly basis. Thus, four times in a year It shall be held such that, there shall be a live audience The venues may vary

Integrity
• The first edition of Role Model Africa was held on Sunday, 27th September, 2015 at the African Regent Hotel in Accra. It was massively attended by youth, comprising tertiary students, young professionals, and entrepreneurs. The first edition hosted an audience of about 250 people in the auditorium.
• The Role model for the first edition was Dr. Samuel Ofori Onwona, an Ex-World Bank Official. The master of ceremony for the day was Mr. Samuel Fiifi Bartels and the interview carried out Dr. William Okyere-Frempong, Country CEO(HuD Group)
• The occasion was graced by personalities such as Chief Kuffour , Mr. Mensah Seneadza (Marketing Manager, Coca Cola West Africa), Michael Ohene- Effah (Co-founder, LeadAfrique and Former Governance Advisor to the UK Government in Ghana) and International Journalist Mr. Martin Luther C. King (Journalist for Regional Integration) from Nigeria.

• Dr. Onwona shared in perspective the invaluable nature of integrity and the price we pay for not upholding such a value. In what can be described as call to action, he urged individuals and organizations not to interchange integrity with smartness. He encouraged the youth to identify period of youthfulness as a strategic stage for preparation instead of just waiting.
• In an attempt to bring into perspective the subject, he mentioned that, ‘Integrity is not a function of poverty. It is what you do when no one is watching’.
• ‘’We have overemphasized smartness at the expense of integrity, and that is killing our society”, Dr. Onwona iterated. He further urged young Africans to consciously and intentionally re-write and re-tell the African story. He described Africa as a continent with a stronger vision and a resolve to transform itself and the world.
Samuel Agyeman-Prempeh, C.E.O of INVENTS in an acknowledgment speech to the audience showed excitement at the many young people who have gathered for the dialogue, underscoring the value that young people place on mentorship.
He also, assured the audience of the existence of the event, and that it was scheduled to be held quarterly.
He iterates that the platform was been birthed with the idea of enabling the individual have direct access to mentors who can help them scale their businesses and careers.
Samuel believes that mentorship is an invaluable ingredient in training and sharpening an individual and organization.

Dr. Samuel Ofori Onwona
Dr. Samuel Onwona is a Ghanaian national and Agricultural Economist by profession. He joined the World Bank Young Professional’s Program in October 1986 and worked mainly in the African Region of the Bank. He has worked with the African Development Bank, as the Resident Representative of AfDB in Sierra Leone with oversight responsibilities for the Bank’s portfolio in Liberia. His key tasks at the AfDB included the formulation of the Bank Group’s Agricultural and Rural Development Policy, the Rural Finance Policy and the Bank Group’s Vision Paper.
Dr. Samuel Onwona was Advisor to two Operations Vice Presidents prior to his appointment as Resident Representative of the AfDB in Sierra Leone with oversight responsibilities for the Bank’s portfolio in Liberia. Following the three-year field assignment in Sierra Leone, he took an early retirement from the ADB in December 2011 and returned home to Ghana from where he works as an independent consultant.
He currently serves as a member of the Advisory Board of the College of Basic and Applied Sciences of the University of Ghana, Legon.
