The Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure and Massage (RMSAAM) is pleased to offer Small and Large Animal Acupressure and Massage Certification Programs as well as continuing education classes in both an On-Site and Correspondence format.

Our programs are designed for each individual’s unique needs. Enrolling in our correspondence programs will allow you to study at your own home and pace. Enrolling in one of our On-Site Programs will prepare you, quickly, for a career in Equine or Canine Massage or Acupressure. Depending on which program you register for, you will spend zero to seven days at one of the several RMSAAM locations. During these on-site days, you will participate in canine and/or equine labs, experience case studies and participate in supervised practice sessions that will prepare you for a written final exam and live practical on the final day. Please visit www.rmsaam.com for a full class schedule. All students have 18 months, from date of registration, to complete each program.

Upon enrolling, you will receive a student welcome packet. Correspondence students will download their lessons and following the instructions therein. Upon completion of each correspondence lesson, you will mail the quiz to us, we will grade it (you must have 9 out of 10 correct) and will let you know whether you have passed or if you need to re-take the test. You are encouraged to complete at least one lesson per month to complete the massage or acupressure program in a timely manner.

We generally adhere to a (10) student maximum and a (3) student minimum for most classes registered at least two weeks (four weeks for non Colorado campuses) prior to teaching dates. Course descriptions, class catalog, payment schedule and enrollment agreement information is included with this packet. We look forward to hearing from you and introducing you to this complementary approach to animal care and conditioning!

Introduction

Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure Massage (RMSAAM) (hereinafter referred to as “the school”) offers the finest educational programs for large and small animal acupressure and massage and is staffed with highly educated, experienced and Colorado State Credentialed instructors. Class Schedule

On site programs require pre and post course work. You have 18 months from registration to finish all course work for both On-Site and Correspondence Programs in accordance with the Student Conduct Policy outlined in the Course Catalog. You may extend your completion date an additional 6 months if necessary by contacting the School in writing prior to your expiration date and paying a re-enrollment fee of $150.00. Should you not contact the school to re-enroll prior to your expiration date, you will be granted a 3 month grace period. You will need to contact the school within that 3 month grace period to extend your expiration date an additional 6 months and pay a re-enrollment fee of $250.00. If you do not complete any program within 27 months you will need to re-enroll as a new student.

When an unexpected closure occurs due to extraordinary conditions such as inclement weather, students will be notified as soon as possible by phone. Telephone and email support will be available Monday through Friday, 9:00am MST to 4:00pm MST.

Telephone and email support will not be available on Saturdays, Sundays and on the following holidays:

Entrance Requirements

The school does not discriminate based on race, sex, religion, ethnic origin or disability. Prospective students must have a genuine love for, and interest in, the health and welfare of all animals. Horse experience is beneficial but not necessary. Ability to read, write and speak English is necessary unless individual arrangements are made, and approved in writing by RMSAAM, on a case by case basis.

Postponement of Start Date

As required by Colorado law:

“Postponement of a starting date, whether at the request of the school or the student, requires a written agreement signed by the student and the school at least 3 weeks prior to the start date. The agreement must set forth: (a) whether the postponement is for the convenience of the student or the school, and; (b) a deadline for a new start date, beyond

which the start date will not be postponed. If the course is not commenced, or the student fails to attend by the new start date set forth in the agreement, the student will be entitled to an appropriate refund of prepaid tuition and fees within 30 days of the deadline of the new start date set forth in the agreement, determined in accordance with the school’s refund policy and all applicable rules concerning the Private Occupational Education Act of 1981.”

Students who do not send a written agreement to the School regarding postponement at least 3 weeks before class begins and are not in class on the first day will be considered in default; considered a no show and are subject to a no show late cancellation fee of $150.00, as well as, a cancellation charge of $150.00 or 25% of the contract price, whichever is less, as noted in Tuition Refund Policy paragraph on page 13 of the in addition to any non-refundable materials fees as set forth in the Catalog. Notifying the teacher of postponement via phone or email is not acceptable; only notification made to RMSAAM (not the teacher) at the proper address listed below shall be accepted as official notification.

Enrollment Procedures

Prospective students may enroll at anytime for the correspondence program. Prospective On-site program students should enroll at least 14 days prior to the start date. Late enrollments will be accepted with the understanding that the school may not be able to furnish all books and materials by the first day of the program. Enrollment after the program has begun is prohibited; we ask that you wait until the next program.

Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure and Massage offers a Business Development Lesson as part of its Massage and Acupressure Certificate Programs as well as a Master Practitioner Mentoring Program. While assisting you to get your business or job search underway, Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure Massage makes no guarantee, express or implied, of future employment or job placement. Current law prohibits any school from guaranteeing job placement as an inducement to enroll students.

Attendance Requirements

Students are expected to arrive on time for class with proper materials. Students are expected to attend 100% of the classes they are registered for.

Progress Policy

Verbal feedback is given during supervised practice sessions. A live Practical, written exam, and case studies are required at the end of each On-Site Certification Program (and prior to receiving your certificate). There will be written quizzes throughout each course. Correspondence program feedback is given with the submission of each lesson quiz. Lessons must be completed and sent in order or they will be returned. Please do not complete and/or submit your lessons out of order. Videotape submission (or on-site practical), written final exam and case studies are all required prior to receiving your correspondence program certificate. Receipt of these materials does not constitute completion of the program. You will be notified by email when all materials have been reviewed and either deemed sufficient for graduation or additional coursework may be required if it is determined that the student has submitted insufficient coursework. Insufficient coursework includes but is not limited to the following; incomplete or insufficient information in your case studies, case studies are not legible, DVD practical is not clear or student did not follow instruction, failing of exams, missing case study forms, etc.

Grading System

Pass/Fail grading system. All correspondence quizzes and final exams are open book. Nine out of ten answers must be correct to pass. You may re-take these until you pass. All quizzes and written final exams for on-site students are closed book. You must get a minimum of 75% of the answers correct to pass. You may re-take these until you pass. On-site certification students and all NCBTMB CE candidates must perform a live practical at the end of the final day. If the student does not pass the live practical he/she may come back and try again or re-do it via our videotaping instructions (this may exclude NCBTMB CE candidates, please call RMSAAM for further information on this regulation) and mail it to us for review. This may be done as many times as necessary to pass for an additional $75.00 fee per occurrence. Correspondence students must submit a videotape via RMSAAM’s videotaping instructions as their live practicum. If it does not meet the requirements laid out in the RMSAAM videotaping instructions students may re-submit as many times as necessary for an additional $75.00 fee per submission.

Conduct Policy

All students are expected to respect all animals, peers, workers and faculty members. Working with animals can be dangerous. Students are expected to follow the teachers’ instructions and all stable rules in and around the stable areas and horses. Failure to abide by stable rules and school policies could result in permanent dismissal as you are putting yourself and others in danger. Failure to follow lesson instructions in any course (including case study review instructions from the School), on site or correspondence, for any reason, or to finish course work in in 18 months for any course, on site or correspondence, for any reason, is grounds for immediate dismissal.

Photo Usage

All students, as participants in the School’s programs, are authorizing the use of photos and videos that may be taken during the course of class understand and agree that these may be used by RMSAAM in Marketing and Promotional Materials as also stated in the Enrollment Agreement.

Student Complaints

Students must always attempt to resolve any complaint of any nature including, but not limited to a claim of deceptive sales or trade practice, with the school directly by contacting the Executive Director, Lisa Speaker at 303-660-9390 or [email protected]. Headquarters: 30522 Longhorn Circle, Elizabeth, CO 80107Our headquarters is a premier location only 55 minutes from Denver International Airport. Acadia Equine Rehabilitation is a working rehabilitation ranch with beautiful views and over 10 horses to work with. Acadia Equine Rehabilitation contains Canine and Equine indoor classrooms, massage area and kitchen. Students are allowed, upon written permission, to bring their non-aggressive, well-behaved dogs to the Canine classes but must be prepared to crate them. Unlimited free parking on site.

Classroom #2: Pelosa Farm, 5151 WCR 18, Longmont, CO 80504 This is a small, private boarding facility with five+ horses and a very comfortable indoor classroom with full kitchen. Students are allowed, upon written permission, to bring their non-aggressive, well-behaved dogs to class but must be prepared to crate them when the instructor requests. The classroom and barn can easily accommodate ten students. Unlimited free parking on site.

Classroom #3: Healing Pawsabilities K9 Massage & Fitness Center, 3100 Del Prado BLVD. S., Building 3, Unit 6, Cape Coral Florida 33904 This is Cape Coral’s largest air-conditioned indoor training facilities at 1200 sq ft. The Students are allowed, upon written permission, to bring their non-aggressive, well-behaved dogs to class but must be prepared to crate them when the instructor requests.

Previous Credits

These are reviewed on a case by case basis. School does not guarantee transferability of credits. There will be no reduction in the cost of a program if a student chooses to use previous training credits, only a reduction in workload. Upon review transcripts and certificates the School may allow the option of “Testing Out” of a level to move onto the next level. If “Testing Out” is determined to be suitable, it will consist of taking the written exam and also performing a live practical exam. The cost to “Test Out” of a level of study will be $180.00 + materials ($50.00 manual and $25.00 DVD will be required for each level)

Tuition Refund Policy

Students not accepted to the school are entitled to all moneys paid. Students who cancel this contract by notifying the school within (3) business days are entitled to a full refund of all tuition and fees paid minus any credit card, materials fees and shipping fees, if applicable. Students who withdraw after 3 business days, but before commencement of program, are entitled to a full refund of all tuition and fees paid except a no show cancellation fee of $150 and a cancellation charge of $150.00 or 25% of the contract price, whichever is less, plus credit card, materials fees and shipping fees, if applicable.

In the case of students withdrawing after commencement of classes, the school will retain credit card convenience fees, materials fees, shipping fees, and a cancellation charge plus a percentage of tuition and fees, which is based on the percentage of contact hours, as described in the table below. The refund is based on the date of enrollment.

After 25% and within 50% of program (Approx. 3 classes completed.) OR 6 months have passed since enrollment date. If on-site program then 50% of on-site time. For example; 50 % of 3.5 days on site with last day being exams = 1 1/2 days.


After 50% and within 75% of program (Approx. 4 classes completed.) OR 10 months have passed since enrollment date. . If on-site program then 75% of on-site time. For example; 50 % of 3.5 days on site with last day being exams = 2 days.


After 75% (If paid in full, cancellation charge is not applicable) Or after 12 months have passed since enrollment date. (Approx. 5 classes+) Three quarters of the program correspondence programs is expected to be complete within 12 months.

No Refund

Additional Refund Policy Information:

The student may cancel this contract at anytime prior to midnight of the 3rd business day after signing this contract.

1. All refunds must be made within 30 business days from the date of termination. The official date of termination or withdrawal of a student will be determined in the following manner:

a. The date on which the school receives formal, written notice of the students intention to discontinue the training program; or

b. The date on which the student violates published school policy, which provides for termination.

c. Should a student fail to return from an excused leave of absence, the effective date of termination for a student on an extended leave of absence or a leave of absence is the earlier of the date the school determines the student is not returning or the day following the expected return date.

2. The student will receive a full refund of tuition and fees paid if the school discontinues a course/program within 18 months from the student’s enrollment date, except that this provision shall not apply if the school ceases to operate.

3.
