Remedy Picture- Complete Guide to Bach Remedies Practice by Dr. D.V.Krishnamoorty.

    ROCK ROSE [Rock Rose]

    Extreme terror-panic-disaster-greater danger- calamities-cyclones-air-raid, bombings-were- floods-bites by snakes and

    equally poisonous animals.

We can sometime know the states of a suffering patient of the ROCK ROSE type by merely looking at those aroundhim. E.G. under the homoeopathic remedy Crotalus horridus (Kents LECTURES ON HOMOEOPATHIC MATERIAMEDICA p.407) we read:

...Doctor, use anything in order to save the life, resort to anything in order to heal this sick one.

The state of the patient is so grave that not only he but those around him too get panicky. Snake bite in which thepatient has foam at his mouth, etc. We have other remedies for fear, e.g. ASPEN for unknown and MIMULUS for knownfears. HORNBEAM is for fear of lack of strength, etc. (dread). CHICORY is for fear of being alone. But the state of ROCKROSE IS extreme.

Imagine the mental state of the person who has been trapped inside a burning house with no way of escape and burning

legs feeling down; or the passengers in an aircraft in flight when the pilot declares that they have to force land on accountof the engine having developed some trouble. Or, of those in a boat about to capsize. On such occasions, it is more or less ashock too. RESCUE REMEDY (which contains STAR OF BETHLEHEM and ROCK ROSE) may be equally helpful in allcondition where ROCK ROSE is needed. (rescue remedy is nothing but a mixture of equal parts of the five Bach Remediesviz. CLEMATIS, CHERRY PLUM, IMPATIENS, STAR OF BETHLEHEM, and ROCK ROSE).

Since one single remedy acts better than a combination of two or more, we are always in favour of one remedy at atime. But in cases where ROCK ROSE is indicated, it is difficult to say whether it is feel alone or shock that is to be treated. Therefore, in such states, we use RESCUE REMEDY as it contains ROCK ROSE. But, if a practitioner assure of thesymptoms of the patient, then it is preferable that he gives the one indicated remedy. viz. ROCK ROSE or STAR OFBETH. In the case of crushed finger-tips caught between a door and a jamb,it is more a case of unbearable pain than ofshock. So also with burns of small area of the skin. On such occasions though many practitioners use RESCUE REMEDYwe prefer CHERRY PLUM because in burns the fore most symptom is unbearable pain and the patient mostly resorts tocold application (though he knows it will only aggravate the condition later.) But when a major portion of the body is burnt

or scalded then STAR OF BETHELEHEM is also needed.

It is not the state or circumstance but it is how the patient reacts to the situation that occurs more for prescribing a BachRemedy to the affected person. In the case of an aircraft developing engine trouble in mid air the ROCK ROSE type ofpanic is felt. But, one passenger says: I am not concerned about myself; but if I die that will be the fate of my family whoare dependent upon my support? Now RED CHESTNUT becomes his remedy.

It is the mental state of the patient--how he reacts to a given condition--that is more important as the criterion forprescribing a flower remedy than the condition itself. Our object in describing the condition for ROCK ROSE, is toillustrate the conditions in which extreme fear is usually felt. If the reaction of a particular patient is something different,ROCK ROSE will not help. Hence the caution against routinism.

While on RESCUE REMEDY (a combination of five remedies) which is recommended for all shocks and injuries, wemay illustrate the value of prescribing a single remedy in place of combination. In the case of superficial burns of the hand(when unbearable burning will be the only symptom) if a person takes RESCUE REMEDY or applies the RESCUEREMEDY OINTMENT, he may get relief after thirty-minutes or so. But if he takes a dose of CHERRY PLUM alone, therelief will be felt within five minutes or almost instantaneously.
