California Food Policy Council (CAFPC):

A collaborative of local food policy groups working toensure that CAs food system reflects the needs of all

of its communities.

Purpose: Capacity building of local food policy bodiesto find common ground on policy priorities, generate

public support, educate policymakers, and advocate

for food systems change in California.

Purpose: To improve student health and wellbeingby providing recommendations that will increase

timely access to healthy, locally-sourced foods and to

increase hands-on engagement in food nutrition

education, farming and eco-literacy.

Community representatives engaged in

food/nutrition/gardening programs throughout the

district & at specific sites

Outcomes so far:

Board of Trustees passed a salad bar resolution

Every site has a salad bar

Many healthier options are offered in cafeterias

School gardens at 35 sites

District is working to establish standardized school

garden curriculum

School garden champions program
