Introducing PACE Mechanical Handling Ltd

Founded in 1996 by Nick and Ann Cesare, PACE Mechanical Handling now employs ten people, two of whom are mechanical engineers and three of whom are programmers trained in the highly specialised field of robotics.

PACE began by supplying systems incorporating affordable, high-quality second hand ABB robots; our more recent solutions utilise new Yaskawa Motoman robots, which allow us to provide our customers with the latest advances in robotic technology.

By working to our customers’ business requirements, applying our thorough understanding of the application of robotics and robot programming in our chosen fields (palletising, pick and place, and open sack filling), and with our ability to design and produce bespoke auxiliary equipment (including electronic weighing, automated sack placing, and sack closing machinery), PACE offer a uniquely customised, cost-effective and reliable service.

No supervision, no breaks 24/7PACE robotic solutions increase your productivity by working harder and longer, running up to 24/7 without any reduction in performance, and with no need for supervision or breaks. Whilst the PACE system does the heavy lifting, your workforce is freed up to concentrate on tasks that require human skill and judgement. The result is a system that lifts and palletises sacks of heavy, bulky materials, such as animal feed, fertilizers, potatoes, straw and chaff, composts and aggregates, with maximum efficiency and improved health and safety.

Safety for your workforcePACE solutions are designed to fit your existing premises, and to complement your existing practises. To ensure the safety of your workforce, we surround the robot cell with a steel mesh cage, and fit the entrances and exits with light guard protection – a curtain of sensors that detect motion and immediately shut down the machinery if anyone enters the cell. In addition, we can install pressure pads in the floor to detect approach of a forklift, and trigger the appropriate response.

PACE’s major area of expertise is robotics and the highly-specialised field of robot programming and robots

are at the core of our systems.

PACE are able to provide bespoke, job-specific solutions because we combine the robots with the appropriate auxiliary

equipment – some of it standard machinery, some of it custom-designed by our own engineers using advanced CAD software, and manufactured to approved standards using laser cutting technology. PACE-designed auxiliary equipment includes sack placers, weighing machinery, and in-sack compaction units.

PACE training, installation and 24/7 support and repair services

Our team’s thorough installation, training and servicing ensure that you get up and running as smoothly as possible.

InstallationOnce we have a clear view of your business requirements, PACE use proven engineering and programming skills to design, build, program and test the solution on our own premises before we install it on yours. Following installation, we re-test, make any necessary adjustments, and provide full operator training for your staff.

ServicingUnder PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment) regulations, mechanical handling equipment should be checked yearly. With a PACE maintenance contract, you can pre-book a visit from one of our engineers, who will ensure that your system is working safely and with optimum efficiency. Older systems, including second hand robots, benefit from yearly preventative maintenance.

PACE emergency servicing 24/7A robotic handling system is a key part of any business and, if a problem should arise, quick, efficient repair is essential. PACE provide 24/7 telephone support.

If remote access was part of your initial specification, we can consult logs, check settings, and perform certain types of repair over the telephone. If we determine that a mechanical repair is necessary, we will undertake to have a qualified engineer with you by an agreed time.

A maintenance contract can include provision of a locked box of spare parts, to be kept at your premises, to expedite emergency repairs.
