3. IntentionsWhy does being a Director of ICB appeal to you? Why are you applying to be a Director? To assist ICB in its mission and to contribute to the image and professionalism of bookkeepers.Being part of a team that can make a positive difference to our industry.

What views and opinions are you bringing to the ICB as to the future of bookkeeping? A visionto assist as many graduates as possible to attain proper sound training and skills to register asBAS agents by completing appropriate checks on the accuracy of the work they complete andthe reports submitted to our regulatory authorities. By doing this it brings consistency, fairnessand equity into the business community.

What do you like about ICB? It's commitment to bookkeeping as an industryand theimprovement of the skills and knowledge of bookkeepers. The level of talent contained withinthe organisation. The ability to work with our regulators to provide them with a real worldview from a bookkeepers perspective in compliance and reporting.

What does ICB need to change? I believe ICB needs to advocate more for the improvement ofregistration standards of BAS agents and return more to the original standards of registrationof BAS agents. Focusing on these standards improves the credibility and standing of registeredpractitioners. I believe while the level of knowledge and skills of bookkeepers have increasedsince the release of the 2007 bookkeeping course, there has been a decline in the standards forBAS registration in some quarters.

How would you recommend ICB achieve its vision and purpose? Expanding the mentoringprogram, throughindividuals who are properly trained and willingto provide time andexpertise to invest in rising stars in our industryto enhance its future.
