Smoke, Sweat & Tearsroad-trip ramblings

Moving on from the paradise that is Sodwana and heading towards

the luxury of Jozini Dam:

19th May and we are back in the convoy and on the road

means only one thing, there must be a challenge soon!

At about one in the afternoon we arrived at Jozini Tiger Lodge

and were completely blown away, how can this road trip getany better than this?

After welcoming drinks and a complimentary hand wash,

Chris runs into an old customer from his

Knysna Seafood Safari days, Chef Dalida.

Surely this must be the Ultimate Coincidence!

Later, at three oclockin the afternoon, we checked into ourplush 4 STAR luxury room - Chris grabs the mezzanine while

Simon makes himself at home in the ground floor with

balcony did we mention plush?

On the morning of 20th May we are woken at seven by

Executive Producer of the show Mr. Peter Gird, "Pack for 3

nights, youre going away on the experience of a life time"

At eleven in the morning it becomes apparent that our home

away from home for the next few days is the Shayamansi

house boat! And still, the trip keeps getting better, we are

being shown the best that Jozini has to offer!

OK, yanking your chain folks, here is the Shayamansi!

Noon time and Simon is making sure we are in good hands

Oh Captain my Captain, in the more than capable hands of

Bramson!

The official Ultimate Braai Master fishing competition rages

on, in the meantime Simon hooks his first ever Tiger Fish!

Teams are back from the Tiger Fish challenge and as it turns

out Chris failed to hook one of the sharp toothed beasts.

Simon is not going to let this sequence of events go.

The next day, 21stMay, rolls around faster than expected!

Cruising around on the Shayamansi we experience a bit of

Jozini dam rush hour

As we near the challenge location we are contemplating a

tough day.

Big challenge at Fish Eagle fisherman's camp with new team

mates, GoodBetterBraai's Jacques and Nadia.

We managed to work well together and produce what we felt

were a solid 3 dishes. Talapia and Barbell the fish of the day.

Our name of choice #SweatyBRAAI

Back on the house boat and it is time for the non-elimination

teams to breathe a sigh of relief

Seven in the morning on 22nd May and we are thinking of the

elimination teams off to their challenge

@kasiguys @huiskombuis @boeriebros @braaightbros

#GOODLUCK

After breakfast we head off on reward, Gone Fishing is the

call for two tenders plus crew heading back onto the water!

Just before lunch and we are fishing in Bramsons secret cove

on Jozini dam, Etienne from The West Coast Bros catches this

beauty well done son!

After a mornings fishing, Simon and Coal Plays Jonno hit the

Mangwanani African Day Spa just after three in the

afternoon

Early morning on the 23rd of May and, as ALWAYS, this is what

all the teams are doing:

speculation/spk ylen/ Show Spelled [spek-yuh-ley-

shuhn] noun 1 the contemplation or consideration of some

subject: to engage in speculation on humanity's ultimate

destiny. 2 a single instance or process of consideration.

After breakfast we are in awe of the incredible Tiger Lodge,

awesome views and magic times. Seems strange that in this

setting we are waiting to hear the fate of the teams that

paddled downstream to take part in the elimination

challenge

After finding out who was eliminated, saying goodbye

was horrid @HUISKOMBUIS @TheBraaightBros

We leave Jozini in the Renault Koleos convoy and head

towards Piet Retief where we stop for a quick re-fuel who

knew that this was Chris home town until he was 5 years old?

Finally we arrive at our next location, at 1600km above sea

level we experience the Ultimate Contrast at Wakkerstroom,one literally feels the cold in your bones!
