Sittwe

Capital of Rakhine State of Myanmar ( Burma ), formerly called Akyab is located at a long narrow

coastal region to the west of Myanmar, founded in 1826 by the British then became Capital of

Rakhine. And Sittwe is a sea port city at the month of Kaladan River where it empties into the Bay of

Bengal. Sittwe has some interesting places to visit, such as the Lawkarnanda Pagoda and

Setkyarmuni Buddha, Mahakuthala Monastery and the bustling fish market and View Point.

Mrauk U

Mrauk U, the last Royal capital of the ancient Rakhine ( Arakan ) Kingdoms, flourished from 15 – 18 century, forty eight kings ruled for 354 years, and is accessible by car and by boat from Sittwe. Bagan

Bagan, splendid and glorious capital of the First Myanmar Empire is now a 42sq km area along the east bank of Ayeyarwaddy River. This plain dotted with thousands of ancient pagodas, shrines, ordination halls and monuments which are now in all stages of decay were erected mostly from the 11th to 13th centuries A.D. Now, It is the most amazing site in Myanmar as in every direction we look. Some come with all manner of historical tales, while others are identified only by a number. Time, man and nature, particularly earthquakes, have taken their roll but the most important monuments have been restored to their original grandeur.

Mindat

Mindat is a small town inhabited by Chin people, situated about 1500m above sea-level. The nearby villages can be explored by hiking in order to observe the way of their living. Their tradition & culture of Chin Ethnic group and famous Chin women with tattooed faces in different patterns must be seen. Mindat can be reached about 5 hours drive on bumpy road from the 10 miles camp of Mt Victoria. You can return to Bagan on the different way along Mindat-Kyaukhtu-Saw Road viewing thriving physic nut plantations, Onion & Potato plantations.

Kanpetlet

Kanpetlet is an old British settlement town and one of the beautiful towns in Chin State, the western part of Myanmar. It is situated 1520m above the sea level and the temperature is cool year round. We can reach there from Bagan by land route about 5 hours drive. We use Kanpetlet as a base camp before trekking tour to Mt Victoria. In the villages near Kanpetlet, we start to see Chin women with tattooed faces.

Ngapali Beach

The very broad, pristine stretch of sand known as Ngapali beach stretches over three km. It is the prettiest in Myanmar, back grounded by swaying palms . The Ngapali area is a good place to relax and take a break from the stress. The water is transparent and the sea is tranquil. There is more to do around Ngapali than just sit on the white sand and splash around the sea, though for many people that is motivation enough. Fishermen begin setting and drawing drift nets before dawn and continue into the late morning, when they load their catches in baskets.

How to go to Mrauk U

Mrauk U has no airport but Sittwe is gateway with airport which can be accessible easily from Yangon, Ngapali by flight. And it can be accessible from Sittwe by boat and by car as well as from Bagan by land driving over the beautiful high Rakhine Yoma mountain ranges. From Ngapali to Mrauk U is also accessible by land. Can Mrauk U visit in rainy season?

Rakhine State can not avoid storms from Indian Ocean happen every now and then in the rainy season. That’s why when there was no motorcar road, Mrauk U was not proper place to visit by boat from Sittwe in the rainy season ( June, July ). But now Yangon-Sittwe motor car road has been up grated and better road condition, Mrauk U can be travelled the whole year round even in the rainy season. It takes only 3 hours from Sittwe by car that travelers don’t need night stop in Sittwe in any kind of weather.
