road closing letter

Sept. 30, 2010 Dear Merchant or Property Owner: This letter is a notice that South Railroad Avenue between 8th and 9th streets will be closed Friday, Oct. 8, as Historic Downtown Opelika prepares for On the Tracks. Merchants should not park in the designated area, even in the morning when the barricades have not yet been put in place. Once barricades have been set up, vehicles parked in the area will not be allowed to leave. We apologize for any inconvenience. Eighth Street will also be closed at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8. The barricades are enforced by law. So merchants should move vehicles before they are in place at 5:30 p.m, or they will not be able to move the vehicles. Additional parking will be available near the railroad tracks for merchants and their customers. Opelika Main Street appreciates your patience as we prepare for Opelika’s 10th biannual food and wine event. This event brings hundreds to the downtown area, and supports Opelika Main Street, which serves to enrich the downtown area. On the Tracks begins at 6 p.m. and features fare from local restaurants and a wine trail throughout the shops of Downtown Opelika. Admission is free to the public and there will be live entertainment on Railroad Avenue throughout the event. Wine tickets can be purchased at Eighth & Rail, Flip Flop Foto or online at onthetracks.org. Tickets are $25 for one admission to the trail. The trail includes both red and white wines, as well as specialty beers. For more information about On the Tracks or to become a sponsor, contact Pam Powers-Smith at 334-737-1474. Thank you for your patience, and we look forward to seeing you on the tracks! Best, Pam Powers-Smith 334.737.1474 [email protected]
