ALONG THE COURSEIf you want to catch your runner and some rockin’ live music, check out the website for the band lineup and directions to these spectator points:
Stage 6 is located at South Peters Street at Canal Street (at mile 9
for the ½ and full). It is within walking distance from the start line, and conveniently located in front of Harrah’s Hotel and Casino.
Stage 7 is located at Decatur Street at Jackson Square. It is in the heart of the French Quarter, and is known as a hot spot for street performers.
THE FREE SHUTTLE • The free shuttle system will be available for spectators to travel between the start line in downtown and the finish line in

GETTING TO THE START LINEWAlK: If you are staying or live in downtown New Orleans, the best opportunity for get-ting to the start line is walking. From Poydras Street, head west until you reach the starting corrals. The start village is located at Lafayette Square on Camp Street in between North Mae-stri Street and South Maestri Street.
DOWNTOWN PARKiNG: Park in one of the lots in down-town and walk to the start line.
GETTING BACK AFTER THE RACESHUTTlE: Free shuttles take participants from City Park back downtown from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. These shuttles will load at Friedrichs Avenue in City Park and drop off at Poydras Avenue be-tween Magazine Street and Carondelet Street.
RUNNER PiCK-UP: Runners can be picked up on City Park Avenue at Marconi Drive in front of Del-gado Community College.

2-Person Relay
The Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans Marathon and ½ Marathon offers a race distance for all rock ‘n’ roll types to enjoy! Walk-ers and runners interested in all the ½ marathon fun but not all 13.1 miles will be rocking the ½ Marathon 2-Person Relay on Sunday, January 25. In true New Orleans fashion, all teams are en-couraged to wear costumes and get into the spirit of the city!
SO HOW DO YOUROCK THE RELAY?The first relay member will run the first leg of 8.4 miles with a commemora-tive Rock ‘n’ Roll Relay drumstick in hand. The exchange takes place at the designated Relay Transition at Magazine between Poeyfarre and Andrew Higgins where the baton is handed to the second relay member. From there the second runner will run the drumstick through the remainder of the course to the finish line at City Park.

The crowning of the Carnival King and Queen is a tradi-tion of Rock ‘n’ Roll New Orleans, and is now in its sixth year. The King and Queen were selected by YOU via the #NOLARoyalty contest.

Music, passion, community strength and a drive to not be vanquished. These are the very core values of the running community. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Weekend running events embrace all of these! It is the perfect pairing. Along with a crawfish and beer pairing it is perfect.
If this is your first time running the race, what are you most looking forward to?Queen’s Response: This will be my first time to run Rock ‘n’ Roll New Or-leans. My goal for this race is to simply have fun. I love the thought of seeing New Orleans up close and personal. I have dreamed of being here with
my teammates and dear friends that believe in me, Dane and Tonya. We are serious runners that have not lost sight of fun. We share that enthusiasm with people from coast to coast. We just completed a full in December, and had New Orleans in the queue as our “fun” race in a town that knows how to have fun. My coach Dane, and team-mate Tonya were so good to me and my husband as he was losing his life to cancer one year ago. So most of all I want to share every part of this race with them, every moment, every smell, every new friend, and raise a glass to my husband Larry, who will be there in spirit. I hope to share my Queendom with them!King’s Response: Having run a number of RnR’s and having been to New Orleans as well, I am now looking forward to the blending of the two. The vibrancy of this city and the thrill of the journey with our fellow runners along its history filled streets will be phenomenal. Ok, and beads, I really hope to get some beads; I mean come on it is New Orleans!

Headliner Concert
TROMBONE SHORTy & ORLEANS AVENuE/kONgOSTROMBONE SHORTY & ORLEANS AVENUENew Orleans native Trombone Shorty began his career as a bandleader at the young age of six, toured internationally at age 12, and spent his teens playing with various brass bands throughout New Orleans and touring worldwide with Lenny Kravitz. He fronts Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, a funk/rock/jazz/hip-hop band. Together they have toured across the U.S., Europe, Australia, Russia, Japan and Brazil. In 2010, Trombone Shorty released his debut album, the Grammy®-nominated “Backatown,” followed by “For True” in 2011, which topped Billboard magazine’s Contemporary Jazz Chart for 12 weeks. His newest album, “Say That to This,” was released in 2013 and features funk/jazz elements of New Orleans. Respect the Distance
For many of you, this will be your first marathon or half marathon. Whether this is your first or fiftieth race, congratulations on your commitment to fitness and a healthy lifestyle! Whether you choose to run, walk or just rock, the following tips will help to ensure you have a fun and safe Rock ‘n’ Roll experience.
TRAIN
It’s too late to start now, but you need to respect the distance
you’ve chosen to walk or run. There are many different training
programs available to you. Be sure you chose one that had you complete at least 2/3 of the race
distance several times during your training period. If not,
slow down and participate at a comfortable pace.
HYDRATE
If you have not calculated your fluid needs for this race, there are two strategies which will ensure
you don’t under or over-hydrate. The easiest is to only drink when you are thirsty. If you want to be a little more scientific, limit fluid
intake to 4-8 oz of sports drink every 20 minutes.
SALT
Losing salt through sweating and complex hormone changes
during exercise can result in lowering your serum [blood]
sodium level. This will not only affect your performance, it
may lead to muscle cramping, headache, dizziness and
confusion. Have some sports drink along the course to
quench your thirst, or follow your pre-planned schedule.
PLEASE
Fill out the medical information section on the back of your bib number. While serious medical
problems are quite rare, knowing any medical problems you have,
medications you are taking or allergies to medications is
extremely helpful to our Medical Volunteers. Our goal is to treat all
of our athletes like Rock Stars.

18:00 | PLAN FoR RACE MoRNINgMake a concrete plan for race morning that includes a wake-up time and a route to the race venue
3:00 | wAKE uP EARLYSet an early alarm to give your body plenty of time to get up to speed. Try to climb out of bed at least three hours before the start horn blasts.
2:45 | EAT YouR PRE-RACE MEALIt is important to wake up in plenty of time to consume and digest a high-carb pre-race breakfast three hours before your race start.
2:15 | MAKE SuRE YouR gEAR IS READYGo through your gear checklist one last time. Be sure not to forget the small essentials such as sunscreen and your race number.
0:30 | wARM uP ThoRoughLYStart your warm-up about half an hour before your race start. Begin with easy jogging, then do some dynamic stretches such as walking lunges and arm circles.

Local Trails
Want to explore off the beaten path? Check out where the locals run to truly experience the city of New Orleans.
CITY PARKLocated in the heart of New Orleans, City Park is not only where the Finish Line will be located, but, also is filled with popular running routes for locals. Numerous trails comprised of paved routes and boardwalks can be found throughout the park, allowing you to create your own picturesque path anywhere from one to five miles.
LINEAR PARKLinear Park was once an old road, that has now been converted into a bike path between the lake levee and lake itself. It runs along the South shore of Lake Pontchartrain, the entire length of Jefferson Parish. You can get on at Bucktown, and at most of the major North/South streets, like Causeway, and take the path all the way to the West edge of Kenner. The path then crosses the levee and continues South almost to the Interstate.
WOLDENBERG PARK Woldenberg Park sits on the edge of the French Quarter giving you a front row seat to The Riverfront. Take in the Mississippi River as you run the wide bricked pathways and pass iconic steamboats.
MISSISSIPPI RIVER TRAIL Also referred to as The Levee Path, this trail is a 22-mile stretch of asphalt that follows the Mississippi River. Starting at the riverside portion of Audubon Park, run up through Kenner parish without ever encountering the traffic of the city.
