Regional Frameworks for partnerships
• “Beyond Productivity” report ( W Mitchell, MIT) US National Research Council Report.
• Identifies “ Information Technology and Creative Practices “ (ITCP) as a source of economic development within “knowledge society”
• Insists on importance of “regional clusters” defined by connectivity:– Mixture of local, geographically defined, and strong
collaborations with distant nodes facilitated by information technology
• Need to design in the mix of “on line” and “face to face” interaction.

Context of Master Class Development
• Bottom up definition, build on actual needs; Long term view ( more than 10 years). UNESCO Digiarts now has several proposals from within the arab world to host masterclasses; Start somewhere
• Segment the customers: educators, creators, researchers,
• Problem of Sustainability: Institutional Frameworks, art/technology poses specific problems of mismatch of institutional structures and rapidly developing inter-disciplinary practice– Master Class topics should opportunistically respond to identified real
needs. Not duplication existing on line instruction.
• Need to work in “ on line” collaboration; Technology needs may drive selection of host organisations. There exist a number of strong possible partners within the region.– Possible need for an e-learning working group

different institutions internationally.
