A Truly Comprehensive Plan…

First and foremost:

• Ensure RIMTA is a truly sustainable resource for growing businesses, thriving industry and the state's economy.

Then…Co-create:

• Advanced trade training initiatives using innovative advanced apprenticeship-type models to develop a skilled workforce, increase employer productivity and place people in real jobs.

• A workforce development system that is demand-driven, easy to use, dependable and flexible; responsive at the actual speed of business.

• An economic development system that is accessible and supports the research and development of all businesses.

• A league of industry intermediaries working for the State of Rhode Island as stewards of industry and job growth, shining a light on the small and mighty RI.

Page 7: RJRI Marine & Composites Industry Partnership ...Student Intern at RIMTA 1 2 0 2 Hiring Incentive Contracts to Employers (Work Immersion, OJT) 25 Can Julie help us get this number?

7

How we will get where we want to be…

• Take a holistic approach to workforce and economic development through comprehensive “Industry Partnership” services

• Keep employers engaged through relevant networking and professional development events as well as opportunities to showcase their products and services while continually reaching out to new partners

• Connect employers to business development services like incumbent training funds, OJT, Work Immersion and growth incentive programs through CommerceRI

• Perfect demand-driven training programs with stackable credentials in alignment with industry standards as well as local and national priorities…then replicate

• Find opportunities to shine

Page 8: RJRI Marine & Composites Industry Partnership ...Student Intern at RIMTA 1 2 0 2 Hiring Incentive Contracts to Employers (Work Immersion, OJT) 25 Can Julie help us get this number?

8

Where we are today…

• Publicly recognized as leaders in Industry Partnership Services and workforce development among funders and colleagues; in general within the State and within the marine industry globally.

• Coordinating and implementing a stunning example of successful demand-driven entry-level training for two of the hardest to serve populations: the un/underemployed (most with barriers to employment) and small business employers statewide.

• Supporting and/or implementing a full array of career exploration and pathway programs for the marine industry

• Planning for the future and continued growth. RIMTA Foundation is currently in development to create a 501c3 arm for the industry.

• Authoring the National Workforce plan for the Recreational Boating Industry.

Page 9: RJRI Marine & Composites Industry Partnership ...Student Intern at RIMTA 1 2 0 2 Hiring Incentive Contracts to Employers (Work Immersion, OJT) 25 Can Julie help us get this number?

9

What’s on the Horizon…

• Recognized nationally as the standard in marine and composites workforce development programming with a full-blown career pathway.

• Replication of PAT and otherprogramming in other states within the Marine Trades.

• Developing a consultant model to enhance organizational sustainability and enhance the visibility and credibility of association member companies.

• Piloting a revolutionary fiberglass boat recycling program to launch the recreational boating industry into the circular economy

• Development of a research and design innovation network to support advanced material applications and cultivation of the workforce required for industry growth.
