Each Student has a few requirements to meet:

• Each Student will be enrolled in Religion IV

• Each Student will be enrolled in a Mathematics course by departmental placement

• Each Student must enroll in at least six courses and a maximum of seven

• Keep in mind graduation requirements as you plan your other courses:

– 4 credits English, Religion, Math

– 3.5 credits Social Studies

– 2 credits Classical Languages, Modern Languages, Science

– 1 credit Fine Arts

English Choices:English IV

• Students in English IV choose TWO SEPARATE SEMESTER-LONG ELECTIVES

• A preference form must be completed. Each student is guaranteed one of their top preferences.

• Options:

– 21st Century Literature

– African-American Lit. I

– African-American Lit. II

– Blues Literature

– Contemporary Imagination & Dante’s Inferno

– Craft of Poetry

– Flash Fiction

– Holy War

– The Modern Novel

– Shakespeare

AP English Literature

• Students must apply and submit a graded essay from junior year

• The Advanced Placement Literature and Composition Course focuses on close reading of great literary works, thoughtful, analytical writing, and lively discussion.
