ESTIMATED COST SAVINGS
A West African O&G company operates a deepwater >500m FPSO in the Gulf of Guinea. A subsea tie back oilwell was a known sand producer. An increase in production was achieved, followed by a complete loss of surface pressure and zero flow. IT was suspected that a blockage due to sand accumulation was the root cause.
The initial proposals to locate and clear the blockage were at least 5x more expensive than Flexi-Coil solution deployed, but never fully costed due to:
1. Cost escalation.
2. The need to shutdown FPSO with a loss of 35,000 barrels per day for a a number of weeks possibly months
3. The finding of Flexi-Coil as a potential solution.
