Cutter parade: Holly Lyster and her dad, Stuart were among the 17 en-trants who participated in this year’s Rimbey Sleigh Wagon and Saddle Club’s cutter parade. Their sleigh was led by a team of Belgian and Belgian Cross horses, Duke and Doc. Several school children rode on the sleigh in the parade and later father and daughter also gave rides.

MLA Anglin will not run asa PC candidate on Feb. 21
COMMUNITY The Rimbey Review, Feb. 17, 2015 3
By Treena Mielke
MLA Joe Anglin has not yet decided if he will run as an Independent, but his name will not be on the ballots for the Progressive Conserva-tives.
PC Alberta has issued a press release stating Joe An-glin will not be allowed to run for the PC nomination in the Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre constituency.
The press release states the committee has deter-mined that allowing Anglin to run for the nomination is not in the best interest of the PCAA.
Anglin, in his own press release, said he no longer wishes to run for the PCs.
“After some lengthy dis-cussions with PC executives it is clear to me that I cannot put my name forth for the PC MLA nomination process,” he said.
Anglin said he respects the PC executive committee for being forthright, but it is obvious he cannot fit into the
PC mold.“I cannot and will not be
a passive MLA that will raise his hand when told, and not ask questions.”
Anglin said he support the premier when he is cor-rect, but reserves his right as an MLA and the rights of his constituents to speak out on their behalf.
“This is my vision of democracy and I cannot rec-oncile it with the current PC party’s understanding of de-mocracy.
Terry Engen and Tammy Cote have been given the
green light by PC Alberta to allow their names to stand as candidates.
Engen is a fifth genera-tion Albertan and the former reeve of Lacombe County. He brings to the table a solid background in governance at a community and municipal level.
Cote is an active mem-ber of the Rocky Mountain House community and has 30 years experience at ATB Financial. It is important to Cote that rural Alberta has a strong united voice, which will be heard, at a provincial
level.Progressive conservative
members will have the op-portunity to cast a ballot for the candidate of their choice
at polling stations which will be set up in Rimbey in the Kinsmen Room at the com-munity centre, Bentley at Bentley Agencies, Eckville
at the community centre, Rocky Mountain House at the Christian School, Caro-line at the Hub and Sundre at the museum on Feb. 21.
4 The Rimbey Review, Feb. 17, 2015 OPINION
What I know
to be trure In my lifetime, I have
discovered that lots of things that happen in the real world are camouflaged with smoke and mirrors.
It is true we do see through a glass darkly.
However, one thing I know to be true.
Music softens the harshest day and pianos are God’s gift to humanity.
I grew up in an old house with a leaky roof and worn, cracked linoleum on the floor. It was a drafty house and I’m sure even the mice that crept in out of the cold to hide in the corners, were never really warm.
But we had a coal and wood stove in the kitchen and the heat that emitted from its cavernous depths was comforting and deli-cious.
And when that big yel-low school bus dropped me off down the street and I opened the front door and found my father to be home, I was totally happy living in that bachelor pad devoid of curtains and other little ‘woman touches.’
For one thing we had the piano.
It was a stately piano, all dark wood and shiny. It was situated in the room we called the ‘front room.’ Liv-ing room was not a term I was familiar with.
Actually, as a kid, the best part of the piano for me was the fact that my mom’s picture was on top of it.
I was told at a very
early age that my mom had gone to be with the angels and after awhile I came to understand that living with the angels was a permanent thing and she wasn’t going to ever be coming home to hug me and make supper.
So, I learned to live with a mom who existed in a picture, smiling at me con-stantly and never scolding me about getting my home-work done or brushing my teeth.
My mom used to play the piano, I was told. I was also told she played ‘Minu-et In G’ beautifully, with a touch so soft and perfect it sounded like it was an angel was at the keyboard.
I set out to learn to play ‘Minuet In G’ so people would say I sounded like an angel or at least like my mom, but no one ever did.
By the time I was 15-years-old, I moved out of the house with the leaky roof and left behind the pi-ano with my mom’s picture
Rimbey business owner speaks out against TFWPDear Editor,
All systems are a go: departments are defined, there are committees formed, and community round tables are being held. This sounds a bit like history as it played out in rural Alberta just last fall regarding the Temporary For-eign Worker Program.
The Hon Jason Kenny sent down from his Department a committee to launch forth a series of visits to determine employment issues in Alberta.
Myself and many other people from a variety of busi-nesses attended these visits and my recall of the conver-sations suggested a clear message: Changes made to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program would see businesses shorten their hours of operation; employee hours would be cut; and some businesses would close their doors. To date I have witnessed all three and heard of 13 foreign workers in my community being directly affected by these changes.
Although for different reasons, I agree with Gil Mc-Gowan from the AFL; the government is being cynical, sneaky and mean spirited in their approach to the Tempo-rary Foreign Workers Program. In September 2014, our
Premier Jim Prentice informed the Canadian Press that Alberta has about two per cent immigrant nominees but accounts for most of the job growth in Canada. In October the Edmonton Journal ran an informative article written by Sheila Pratt stating that by 2016 a labor force of 2.3 million will include less than one per cent temporary for-eign workers.
The Globe and Mail in November said the hard line Ottawa is taking with the temporary foreign workers program is affecting business and foreign workers who moved here for a better life.
The knee jerk reaction Ottawa had to what I consider a biased, one-sided interview in April by CBC Go Public, began to immediately impact businesses, the economy in Alberta and devastated many hard working foreign work-ers. This issue has nothing to do with seasonal workers or the abuses to the EI program in the east as suggested at our visit round the table. Nor do the current lay offs in the oil patch have anything to do with this.
In October, Kenny said he would not relax the new rules to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, then, in January 2015 a letter from him and the Hon. Chris Alex-
ander was discovered saying they were changing the rules. In spite of the rules that seem to change daily, why would ministers wait until to now to make changes public?
Call it what they want; bridging, transitioning, one time exemption, or the EE Program. These will do noth-ing for small businesses or the foreign workers waiting in a 25- month queue for a response to their status. These fancy terms come with many strict criteria that will not ap-ply to entry level jobs that employers are required to pay the median, not the minimum, wage for.
We’re not the Targets, the Wrigley’s, or the Sony’s of the world; we are small independent and entrepreneurial businesses working with our employees for a win-win out-come. Instead they are forced to return home and the Hon. Chris Alexander has the audacity to state 3,000 new work permits issued in January this year. This does not support small business, is not humanistic in its rulings with the current Temporary Foreign Worker Program and is a far cry from the democratic system we profess to nurture.

on it and pretty much gave up learning to play ‘Minuet In G’ like my mom.
But, as usually happens in this lifetime, fate and circumstances collided, and when I was 18-years-old, I found myself in an-other home where a piano graced the home.
It belonged to my boy-
friend’s mom.Today, that same piano
sits in my living room. And, across its polished top, march a gay profu-sion of pictures of kids and grandkids who belong to me and that boy of long ago.
And, every day I still attempt to tinkle the ivo-
ries, struggling to make the music that lives inside of me, come out.
And now and then I am lucky enough to have my home graced by wonderful musicians whose fingers on the ivories bring that old piano to life.
And, sometimes when the lace curtains at my
window flutter in the night breeze drifting in through the open window and the notes from the piano float outside, it happens.
I am surprised by joy. And, when I look up
at the top of my piano, I swear I can see my mom’s picture sitting there.
And she is smiling.

LETTER The Rimbey Review, Feb. 17, 2015 5
Reader is confusedabout the rules of TFWPDear Blaine Calkins and Editor for Rimbey Review
I am writing to both of you, as I am a little confused.I wrote an email to Blaine on January 19 when my
ESL students, (the Cuban cooks) phoned to inform me that they were not going to come for their lesson that eve-ning as they had problems with their papers and were leaving. Blaine’s assistant replied to my email on the January 22 and I returned with more correspondence, so how can Blaine have been unaware of this situation until the paper came out? Does the assistant not allow Blaine to read an email that was addressed to him?
Two of the wives were in the process of jumping through all the hoops required for the provincial nomi-nation program, and my students were studying hard to challenge the Red Seal Cook Exams. My own knowl-edge of cooking terms was expanding rapidly.
I had no idea how the temporary foreign workers program works, nor the provincial nomination program, and seldom watch the news, so the article which can be found at http://www.edmontonjournal.com/touch/story.html?id=10310578 escaped my notice.
Having read this article, and heard on the radio about the American and Cuban governments consulting, I can fully understand how these decent hardworking people would rush to get into the States before the rules there were changed too. The article states quite plainly that there are far more applicants applying for permanent sta-tus than places per year, and that it takes longer to process the applications than the length of their work permits.
If the Cubans had stayed until the end of their permits, and the States had changed their rules, then their only op-tion at the end of their stay would have been to return to Cuba, which was not at all what they wanted to do.
I believe very strongly that the current temporary for-eign workers should have been grandfathered under the old rules. Instead of the Cubans having to figure out how they can qualify to return, they should be given a huge apology for the anguish which they have suffered from this treatment, and an invitation to immigrate.

Women’s conferencewas well attended
By Treena Mielke
Having fun with like-minded women, enjoying a day packed full of interest-ing sessions and listening to an inspirational keynote speaker were all part of this year’s Rimbey annual wom-en’s conference.
This year marked the twenty-ninth women’s con-ference and, once again, a full day of enjoyment in-cluding shopping opportu-nities from a variety of ven-dors, a catered lunch and prizes were on the agenda.
The theme for this year’s conference, attended by 184 women, which was held Feb. 5 at the Peter Lougheed Centre, was Ex-panding Your Horizons.
Irene Steeves, president of the women’s conference committee was pleased with the conference.
“I thought it was fantas-tic,” she said. The evalua-tions were all positive.”
Committee member Carol Hannesson agreed.
“It was a real success. Everybody seemed to quite enjoy it.”
Keynote speaker Za-heen Nanji opened and closed the conference with inspirational presentations.
No stranger to chal-lenges, Nanji, who is origi-nally from Kenya, learned to live in a new country at the age of 15, all the while struggling with weight and a speech impediment.
During her presentation, Embracing Change she spoke about the seven steps and one specific crucial step necessary for accepting change.
“We are always go-ing through the cycle of change,” she said. “Em-brace change, don’t run from it or complain. Look for the good side.”
For those interested in expanding their creative side, Chelsea Datema of Jerzi’z Skye Designz of-fered a hands-on workshop on the art of repurpos-ing old furniture to create unique one of a kind pieces.
Nathan Zukiwski and his assistant provided the ladies with a cooking demonstration including a mushroom risotto and a rum peach flambé.

The Rimbey Atoms AA hockey team likes to win.
The team, made up of 10 and 11-year-old play-ers, are enthusiastic young athletes who do their best to see the scoreboard light up in their favour.
But, when the Atoms heard that Michael Arthur, the captain of an opposing team was diagnosed with leukemia, winning took a back seat to helping out in
whatever way they could.Team members agreed
that $500 raised from their bottle drive should go to-wards expenses the fam-ily would incur during Mi-chael’s treatment.
And during last Sun-day’s game against Sylvan Lake played on home ice, Rimbey players wrapped their sticks with orange tape and tied their skates with orange laces. The parents and friends in the fans were encouraged to wear orange
as well to show their sup-port.
Players from both teams, when they learned Michael was in the stands, skated by him raising their sticks in a unified salute.
“It was awesome,” said Rimbey Atom coach Chad Beagle. “(Some people) had tears in their eyes.”
The Sylvan Lake hock-ey player has his first round of chemotherapy and will remain in the Calgary Chil-dren’s Hospital for the next
six months. His parents and older brother, Steven will be with him.
Help to offset costs during this time can be made through donations to ATB Trust account # 926-00376516400.
Please see the FIGHT LIKE MIKE Facebook page for information and notification of silent auc-tions.
Cheques can be made out to Michael Arthur Trust Account.
Helping out: Rimbey AA Atoms captain Hayden Motory-lo stands with Sylvan Lake AA Atoms assistant captain Talon Brigley holding a sign in honor of Sylvan Lake At-oms captain Michael Arthur who has been diagnosed with leukemia. The Rimbey team donated $500 to the young hockey player to help with expenses. The Rim-bey team also wore orange skate laces and put orange tape on their hockey sticks which they raised in salute to Arthur who was in the stands. Sylvan Lake defeated Rimbey 4-2 after scoring the final goal when Rimbey pulled their goalie. Treena Mielke Photo

Stepping up to the challenge12 The Rimbey Review, Feb. 17, 2015 COMMUNITY
By Rolanda Eadie
The staff at Rimbey Elementary School literally stepped up to the challenge when they were each given a pedometer. February is “Heart Smart” month and we used the pedometer to count our steps. Firstly, we calculated the average amount of staff steps in a week, which was 66 845, to encourage other Wolf Creek School Division school staffs to “Beat it.” A healthy goal per person each day is 10,000 steps.
Many incentives were added to the challenge such as prizes for: reaching personal goals, giving colleagues a kind word or deed every thousand steps, a subway lunch, and two grand prize draws (gift cards from Value Drug Mart).
Wearing a pedometer really helped us become more aware of the steps we are taking. Activities like our school’s winter walk helped to balance the time at the computer that report card time brings. There are phone apps and bracelet devices to help you count your steps each day.
Are you up to the challenge?

Springdale Players’ Theatre Society Liberty Hall Dinner Theatre’s presentation is being held throughout Febru-ary. Pictured are Trish Matthews, who plays director Blanche LaToure and Don Leighton, who plays Police Officer Bainbridge who try to discover who the mur-derer really is, while Savannah, played by Pam Terry looks on. Hall dinner
theatre
suspensefulBy Treena Mielke
There were blackouts and loud noises and people run-ning all over and the audience that filled Liberty Hall didn’t have a clue what was going on.
The mayhem happened several times throughout the play and the audience was kept guessing right until the very last suspense filled moment as to who did it.
This year’s Liberty Hall Dinner Theatre, an audience-participation comedy mystery by Pat Cook, You have the right to remain dead presented by The Springdale Players, proved to be a delightful mixture of murder, mystery and intrigue.
As usual, the play was presented to a packed house last Saturday, and the audience was treated to a delicious meal prepared by Springdale Ladies Club before settling down to watch and actually participate in the play.
This year’s play had a unique twist as the actors on stage cleverly implicated everyone in the audience as one of the potential suspects for the murder.
Springdale Players is made up of a group of actors who combine raw talent with dedication, humour and wonderful community spirit.
The talented crew came from a varied background and included Grant Harris who and has been involved with Lib-erty Hall for more than 40 years along with Josh Gundlach and Carrie Kitchen, who made their debut performance with Springdale Players this year.
Other veteran actors included in the cast of five men and five women are Pam Terry, Karen and Merv Steeves, Ernie Closs, Trish Matthews, Journey Giesbrecht and Don Leighton.
The play is directed by Connie Jensen and stage man-ager is Joey Jensen.
Remaining performances will be held Feb. 20 and 27 and a matinee will be held Feb. 22.

Rimbey RCMP apprehend
thief who is now behind barsThis week, Rimbey
RCMP detachment in-vestigated nearly 40 files. Highlights include a break and enter, domestic disputes, stolen cars, fraud and other serious matters.
Crime watch associa-tion holds AGM
Rimbey and District Rural Crime Watch (RCW) held its Annual General Meeting at Last West Hall on Tuesday night. The Rimbey and District Vic-
tim Services Unit (VSU) coordinator made a pre-sentation at the well-at-tended event to enlight-en members on what VSU does in our community for victims of crime. Rural Crime Watch is made up
of volunteers who act as the eyes and ears for the police not only in the ru-ral area but in town as well. Although your local detachment staff is work-ing very hard to catch bad guys they cannot be every-
where. The police rely on members of RCW to as-sist them in solving and preventing crime. RCW is now updating and im-proving the current phone fan-out system to allow members to get up to date
information through an email. Officers at the scene of a crime will soon be able to instantaneously send out an email alert to members. This new in-novative approach will not completely replace the phone out system so those members in the communi-ty who do not have a smart phone, etc will still get the phone call notifications as they traditionally received as members of the associa-tion. If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact the detach-ment at (403) 843-2224 for more information.
Thief apprehended On Thursday, Febru-
ary 12 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Mounties in Rimbey were alerted of suspicious vehicle in a parking lot near Highway 20 that may be involved in criminal activity. Of-ficers quickly responded to the scene and when the dust settled a 24-year-old man, a resident of Bret-on, was in handcuffs and in the back of a police cruiser. The investigation revealed that the Breton-ite had stolen a Ford truck from Ponoka on Monday. He then took it to a lease site near Thorsby and stripped the stereo and expensive rims and tires off the truck before leav-ing it abandoned up on blocks. During the rest of the week, he stole another truck in Rocky Mountain House to transport around the stolen tires/rims and other stolen property to prospective buyers in the area. The original owner of the Ponoka truck saw his tires and rims listed on the Internet for sale and contacted the thief to inquire about purchas-ing them. They arranged to meet in Rimbey. When the original victim met with the thief he told him that those were his tires and he was going to call the police. When the victim called 911 the ban-dit fled on foot from the area and finally ended up in police custody.

Grade 6 students at Rimbey Elementary School
Mr. and Mrs. Ruth and Leo Palm have been married for sixty-five wonderful years. They were engaged for one year before united in marriage on Wednesday, January 4, 1950 at the United Church in Lacombe. They have nine children, twenty-three grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. They currently live south of Rimbey on Simpson Road. Ruth and Leo used to farm but now they just care for their horses.
Ruth and Leo met during thrashing season while Ruth was teaching at a local school in Eckville and Leo was working on a nearby farm. They used to celebrate anniversaries by going to local dances for the night. For their sixty-fifth anniversary they invited their family and friends to Monteray Jack’s in Rimbey. Usually the restaurant was closed on Sundays but the workers opened it just for Ruth and Leo’s families. On their first date Ruth and Leo went to a movie in Sylvan Lake. The best date they ever went on together was definitely the first date. When asked why they love each other, Ruth replied that she loved Leo because he really loved children and he had lots in common with her. Leo told us that he loved Ruth because she was a good, hard worker and a good baby-sitter. They knew they loved each other half a dozen dates. Ruth told us that when Leo makes her mad they either talk it out or try to work it out so they don’t fight. When asked how you feel when you are around your partner, Leo said he feels good and very proud of Ruth. Ruth replied that she feels happy and content around Leo.
Ruth and Leo replied that love is about caring, thinking about someone before yourself and respect-ing each other is what love means to them. When asked what was the silliest thing your partner has
ever done, Leo said, “one time on April Fool’s Day, I told Ruth that the turkey had laid an egg,” Ruth then ran out to the coop and the turkey had actually laid an egg even though it was only
supposed to be a joke. She could always tell Leo was joking around because of the sparkle in his eyes.
The Grade 6R Class at Rimbey Elementary would like to thank Ruth and Leo for coming in and sharing their story with us. We were moved by
your compassion and love for each other. We wish you many more years of happiness.

Stuart Lyster has never missed a Rimbey cutter parade and this year was no exception.
Last Saturday, he drove around the parade route accom-
panied by his daughter Holly in their sleigh being led by a team of Belgian and Belgian Cross horses, Duke and Doc. Sev-eral school children rode on the sleigh in the parade and later fa-ther and daughter also gave rides in their sleigh.
Lyster said he thought this year’s cutter parade sponsored by Rimbey Sleigh Wagon and Saddle Club went well. He noted the parade was cancelled last year and believes it may have af-fected the turnout.
“It takes awhile to build things up,’ he said, “but there is still interest.”
The long time cutter parade participant said some of the peo-ple who usually participate in the parade attended the event, but didn’t participate, but he wasn’t sure what the reasons were.
“It could have been because of the weather,” he said.
Temperatures did hover well below zero on Saturday and only a handful of people were scat-tered throughout the stands at the rodeo grounds to watch the event.
Denise McFarlane, presi-dent of Rimbey Sleigh, Wagon and Saddle Club said there were 17 entries at this year’s cutter parade.
“I thought it was a pretty de-cent local turnout,” she said.
Dennis DeBruiyne from Westerose won the best dressed outfit and 87-year-old Jack Gur-nett from Bluffton was the oldest driver. Maria Selder from Bluff-ton was the youngest driver and Shannon Schneider from Stony Plain came the furthest for the parade.
A silent auction and con-cession was held in conjunction with the cutter parade and
Keith Kendrew gave donkey rides.

CECHIt is with a heavy heart that the family of Frank John Cech of Bluffton, Alberta announces his peaceful passing at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the age of 80 years. Frank was born in Rimbey on December 14, 1934 to Antonie and Joseph Frank Cech. He attended school in Bluffton where he grew up, and was
united in marriage to Carole Sutherland in 1960. Frank spent 52 years working at the Rimbey Auction Mart and at Allen Olson Sales, along with farming and logging with Carole at his side. He lived life to the fullest and took up any challenge he faced with zest. Frank was truly a local icon and loved his home, his family and friends, and the area in general. He always stated he did not need to take a trip anywhere as he could have more fun between Bluffton and Rimbey than anywhere else in the world! Frank’s special hobby was building birdhouses and children’s toys, and countless other creations. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, and his memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew him. Frank will be lovingly missed by his wife of 54 years, Carole; his son, Jerry (Sheila); and his daughter, Marie (Brian); in addition to four treasured grandchildren: Kara and Cory Cech; and Tia and Trent Hopper, all of Bluffton. He will also be lovingly missed by numerous nieces and nephews; and many, many friends and co-workers. Frank was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters. A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Frank’s Life will be held at the Peter Lougheed Community Centre, Rimbey on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Deborah Laing offi ciating. A Private Family Interment Service took place in the West Haven Cemetery, Rimbey. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Frank’s Memory may be made directly to the charity of one’s choice. WILSONHerbert “Herb” Samuel Wilson of Rimbey, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the age of 85 years. Herb was born on October 15, 1929 in Nakusp, B.C., the third youngest of ten children. When he was just a few months old, his family moved from Nakusp to the Homeglen area in Alberta. Herb was united in marriage to Joyce Krefting in 1949, and they settled in the Asker District east of Ponoka where they farmed until 1956. Herb supplemented his income by working on the oil rigs. Following a very serious accident on the rigs, they moved to the original home farm at Homeglen. In 1959, they moved to Ponoka where Herb worked at the Centennial Hospi-
tal. In 1970, they relocated to Grande Prairie where Herb owned a Texaco franchise, and in 1973, Herb accepted his dream job in Richmond, B.C. as a carpenter for the City of Richmond. Herb met Gladys in 1986, and they were married in 1988. They spent fourteen wonderful years traveling to Arizona. In 1995, they retired to Alberta, settling in Rimbey in August, 2005. Herb loved fi shing at Queen Charlotte and Port Alberni, and he took pleasure in hunting, gardening, playing cards and pool. He also loved living at Parkland Beach for a time where he could keep track of all his purple martins and the wildlife. Herb found enjoyment in the many activities at the Drop-In Centre, was a member of the United Church, and also enjoyed living at Kansas Ridge Estates. Herb’s greatest passion in life was for his family, which he thoroughly enjoyed and loved deeply. He was very proud to be the father of his eight children and their families ... and will be greatly missed by all. Herb is survived by his loving wife, Gladys; and his eight cherished children: Linda Wilson, Joanne (Joe) St. Amant, Martin (Debbie) Wilson, Brenda (Len) Schultz, Martha (Tom) Ghostkeeper, Debbie (Doug) Side, Jamie (Neil) Foley, John (Joanne) Wilson; as well as one stepson, Randy Conti. He is also survived by his sister, Alice (Russ) Picketts; the mother of his children, Joyce Klaus; twenty-four grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and one great, great granddaughter; in addition to many nieces and nephews and their families, other relatives, and a host of friends. Herb was predeceased by his mother and father, Sadie and Edwin Wilson, four brothers and four sisters, one stepdaughter and son-in-law. A Public Memorial Service in Celebration of Herb’s Life was held at the Rimbey United Church, Rimbey on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Deborah Laing offi ciating. Cremation took place at the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer. Interment will be held at a later date in the Asker Cemetery, Ponoka. If friends desire, memorial tributes in Herb’s Memory may be made directly to the David Thompson Health Trust, c/o Rimbey Hospital and Care Centre, Box 440, Rimbey, Alberta T0C 2J0; or to the Rimbey United Church, Box 7, Rimbey, Alberta T0C 2J0. Volunteers needed to help
keep Rimbey safe place to live
COMMUNITY The Rimbey Review, Feb. 17, 2015 23
Volunteers neededA group of local vol-
unteers having been tire-lessly working on projects to help prevent domestic violence, bullying, sui-cide and the high number of impaired driving of-
fences in Rimbey. Please see www.rimbeycom-munitywellness.com for more information. We are all blessed to call Rimbey home. Become involved in one the many volunteer organizations that I have
spoke of and help make Rimbey a safe place to live.
If you have any infor-mation regarding these or any other crimes, please call the local Rimbey RCMP Detachment at (403) 843-2224 or Crime

Continued from page 14Police searched
the Rocky Mountain House truck sitting in the parking lot and lo-cated prohibited weap-ons on the front passen-ger seat as well as break in tools, methamphet-amine and more stolen property. The accused is now a resident of the Queen’s Crowbar Hotel awaiting his day in court while police continue the investigation. The mes-sage is clear, if you are committing crime - don’t come to Rimbey!
Patrols to increaseOfficers have been dili-
gently patrolling the rural area and will be increasing patrols in Bluffton and in the Gull Lake north area communities. Highway patrols during school and commuting hours have also increased resulting in a large number of fines be-ing handed out for speed-ing and other traffic re-lated offences on Highway 771 near Parkland Beach and the Bluffton School.
TeamworkRimbey cops are team-
ing up with Alberta Fish and Wildlife Officers and will be conducting snow machine patrols in the Gull Lake and Medicine Lake area to ensure recreational enthusiasts are following the rules while fishing and not consuming alcohol and operating a snowmo-bile while impaired.
