The Foremost DR24HD is the latest model Dual Rotary (DR) rig to be introduced by Foremost Industries. DR rigs have beenworking successfully around the world since 1979. Over the years, the DR method has earned an enviable reputation for exceptional drilling performance in overburden and unconsolidated formations. DR rigs are regularly used to drill and case throughup to hundreds of feet of tough overburden where Air Rotary Casing Hammer (ARCH), Dual Wall Percussion Hammer (Becker), Under-reaming Systems (i.e. STRATEX, TUBEX..), and Sonic rigs have struggled or been unsuccessful; and when Mud Rotary is justnot an option. The DR24HD also performs excellent in a variety of open-hole drilling applications, making it one of the most versatile, powerful, and truly unique machines in the drilling industry.

The most distinguishing feature of the DR24HD is the powerful lower rotary drive that is used to advance welded or threaded steelcasing through overburden and unconsolidated formations. Rotational forces (208,330 ft-lbs of torque) are transmitted to the casing (6” up to 24” diameter) via power-operated jaws. A carbide-studded shoe, attached to the end of the first piece of casing, enables the casing to cut its way through the unconsolidated formation. A top drive rotary head simultaneously handles a drill stringequipped with either a down-hole-hammer, or tri-cone bit to drill the center.

With minimal reconfiguration time the DR24HD can also be used to perform direct circulation air/mud rotary, dual tube reverse-circulation, flooded reverse circulation, and 94mm wireline coring methods.

Mast

Heavy duty design – fabricated of rectangular steel tubing towithstand torque of top and lower drive. Height 39 ft to pro-vide clear top head travel of 26 ft. Equipped with a weather-proof lighting system for night operations.

Tophead Rotary

Ruggedly constructed tilting top drive. Rotation is controlledfrom main panel and is infinitely variable from 0 to 113 RPMwith a maximum torque of 12,500 ft-lbs.

Pulldown/Holdback

The tophead drive is raised and lowered via directly connected hydraulic cylinders; connected directly between the tophead andthe base of the mast. Benefits of thisdesign include a high pullback toweight ratio, and zero load on themast’s crown. Pulldown force provides 25,900 lbs; Holdback forceprovides 84,000 lbs.

Casing HandlingTilting tophead drive enables semi-automatic loading and unloading of the drill pipe and casing simultaneously, quicklyand safely. The rig is also equipped with a quick tripping attachment, which doubles the speed of the tophead hoist to108 ft-min; for tripping in and out of the hole and setting casing and pipes of a maximum diameter of up to 24” to thedesired depth.

Casing Drive by Lower Rotary TableTable opening: 24.7”, Stroke: 12’, Pull back: 117,000 lbs or201,000 lbs (combined with top-head), Pull down: 42,000 lbs,Rotation: 0-10 RPM, Torque: 208,330 ft-lbs.

Air Compressor

Ingersoll Rand 2 stage, rotary screw-type, rated at 900 CFMwith a maximum pressure of up to 350 PSI. The compressor isenvironmentally protected which helps to provide lower operating noise levels, has a high temperature safety shutdown, and is powered by the carrier engine.

Service Winch

Hydraulically powered with 120 ft of 1/2” cable having a single line pull of 6,000 lbs.

Sandline Winch

Hydraulically powered with 120 ft of 1/2” cable having a single line pull of 6,000 lbs.

Water Injection Pump

Hydraulically powered FMC – Bean triplex pump, equippedwith a variable speed control for rated output of up to 20 GPMand 600 PSI.

Hydraulic Breakout

Lower rotary drive is used as both a breakout and spinnerwrench with torques up to 208,330 ft-lbs., and up to 10 RPM.

Cyclone

Outside shell constructed of 3/16” structural steel, and hardened liner for abrasion; and equipped with a heavy-duty5” discharge hose.

Hydraulic Leveling Jacks

For optimum stability the rig is equipped with four (4) levelingjacks that provide 36” of travel, and are hydraulically lockedfor safety.

Truck

Kenworth Model T-800 – Tridem rear axles, equipped with aCummins model ISX diesel engine rated at 525 Horsepower.20,000 lb rated front axle; and a tridem rear axle with a58,000 lb rating.
