About Career Ready• UK-wide charity linking over 200 schools and colleges

with employers to help prepare young people for the world of work.

• Established in 2002, nearly 12,000 young people aged 16-19 have been through our programme.

• Flexible interventions delivered by employer volunteers and based on four pillars - masterclasses, mentoring, workplace visits and work placements.

• 97% of our students go on to a positive destination: work, work-based training or further education.

Why are we so successful?• We meet business needs

• We meet school needs

• We change the lives of young people

The construction industry faces significant skills shortages, with almost one fifth of all vacancies classified as hard to fill.Source: UK Employer Skills Survey (UKCES, 2011)

Urgent need to create equal opportunity across the school system, to overcome negative stereotypes and rebalance the

Simply hard-hats and hi-vis? Fundamental change is required in how the construction industry is perceived by young people
