DESCRIPTION

process flashless forging or true close die forging to make rice cooker lid

TRANSCRIPT

Slide 1

Rice cooker lidType of material Stainless steel reasons: (1) Corrosion resistance -All stainless steels have a high resistance to corrosion. Low alloyed grades resist corrosion in atmospheric conditions; highly alloyed grades can resist corrosion in most acids, alkaline solutions, and chloride bearing environments, even at elevated temperatures and pressures.

2 (2) Strength The cold work hardening properties of many stainless steels can be used in design to reduce material thicknesses and reduce weight and costs. Other stainless steels may be heat treated to make very high strength components. (3) Ease of fabrication The majority of stainless steels can be cut, welded, formed, machined and fabricated readily.

Type of processTrue close die forging :Flash does not form and the workpiece completely fills the die cavityUndersized blanks prevent the complete filling of the die cavityIt is applied to impression die forging with flash generation Flow chart of forging processIngot/billetsPhysical evaluationPreheating furnaceForgingInspectionHeat treatmentFinal inspectionProcess operationtwo dies are brought together and the workpiece undergoes plastic deformation until its enlarged sides touch the side walls of the die.

Then, a small amount of material begins to flow outside the die impression forming flash that is gradually thinned.

The flash cools rapidly and presents increased resistance to deformation and helps build up pressure inside the bulk of the workpiece that aids material flow into unfilled impressions.
