RICCARDO MUTI ITALIAN OPERA ACADEMY 1) MUSICAL PROGRAMME AND COURSE TEACHER The Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy 2017 will focus on Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “Aida”. Maestro Muti will conduct the Orchestra Giovanile Luigi Cherubini during each stage of the preparation process. The final performance of Verdi’s Aida will be in concert-form. 2) CLASSES AND POSITION OF THE STUDENT It is possible to participate in one of the following educational classes: Active conductor Active répétiteur The following positions can be covered: Observing student Listener and part of the audience 3) DURATION AND LOCATION OF THE COURSE The course will take place at Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna from September 1 st to 14 th 2017 and will end with a concert conducted by the selected students of the Academy and presented by Maestro on September, 14 th . (For your information, Maestro Riccardo Muti will conduct a concert at Teatro Alighieri on September, 12 th ) Ø Course participation of the selected students: from September, 1 st to 14 th 2017, Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna Ø Course attendance of listeners/audience: from September, 1 st to 14 th 2017, Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna, with the exception of the concert of September, 12 th 2017 conducted by Maestro Riccardo Muti, for which it is necessary to have a separate ticket. It can be purchased for a lower rate at the box office of Teatro Alighieri. 4) REQUIREMENTS FROM APPLICANTS STUDENTS Age between 18 and 35 years (by January 31, 2017). Diploma released by a State Conservatory of Music or Istituto Musicale Pareggiato, or equivalent certification for titles not obtained in Italy, in the subject for which you apply: - diploma in conducting for “conductor” - piano diploma for “répétiteur” The piano diploma will be considered as preferential for conductors, too. 5) APPLICATION FORM The application form must be filled in using the attached form and sent via e-mail to: [email protected] by January 31 st 2017. Applications sent after that day will not be considered.

The application must contain:

• Completed application form • Artistic CV • Copy of a regular ID (passport for non-UE citizens) • Video link or file mp4 of applicant’s performance (minimum 15 min.duration).

In particular:

• for “répétiteur”: a selection chosen by the candidate from the piano repertoire; the demonstration to be able to play while following with the voice the vocal part(/s) of at least an aria, a duett, a concertato from the opera “Aida”.

The subject of the e-mail must contain the terms “Academy Call for Applications” and the category which the person is applying for. The application implies the candidate’s full awareness and unconditioned acceptation of what expressed in this notification. Any clarification or information can be requested to the following e-mail address: [email protected]. 6) SELECTION AND EXAMS A jury appointed by Maestro Riccardo Muti will evaluate all eligible applications received by the deadline. Those chosen for the final audition, directed by Riccardo Muti, will be contacted by email by May 15, 2017 and must be at Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna, Italy on August 30th and 31st, 2017. The exam will focus on Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “Aida”. The names of the selected students will be communicated at the end of the exams. At the end of the Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy active students will receive a Certificate of Participation and listeners will receive a Certificate of Attendance. Both Certificates will be signed by Riccardo Muti. 7) PARTICIPATION RATES FOR LISTENERS AND THE AUDIENCE

Ø For the selected students the participation is free.

Ø The following rates are applicable to the listeners:

• € 150,00 for students of Conservatory or Istituto Musicale Pareggiato, or foreign equivalent Musical Academies (presenting regular certificate of subscription to the Conservatory, Istituto Musicale Pareggiato or foreign equivalent Musical Academy).

• € 800,00 for the public in general. No study title necessary, no age limit.

No deadline for listeners and audience’s applications (subject to availability). Any travel, as well as boarding and lodging costs, will be entirely at each participant’s own expense.

8) INFORMATION ON THE TREATMENT OF PERSONAL DATA In accordance with the Italian Legislative Decree of June, 30th 2003, n. 196 "Codice in materia di protezione dei dati personali" [“Code about the protection of personal data”] and any modification that followed, the personal data communicated through the application forms to the academy, or in relation with the participation in the academy, will be subject to treatment in compliance with the above-mentioned Italian law and any Italian law obligation. The data can be treated with electronic devices, respecting any obligation of the Italian law or other regulations and will be preserved in magnetic and printed archives. Personal data will be kept strictly reserved, will not be transferred or communicated to third parties, with the exception of subjects for whom this discretion is recognised by the Italian law and is strictly necessary in relation with the activity they will carry out. The parties interested in the above-mentioned treatment can exercise every right considered in the Art. 7 of the Italian Legislative Decree of June, 30th 2003, n. 196.
