A resort off the beaten tracks

The île de Ré is a jewel of the Atlantic coast. The Les Baleines campsite has always been active in the protection of our beautiful island and by extension, of our planet. After obtaining the quality labels « Qualité Tourisme » and « Camping Qualité », the camp site obtained the European Ecolabel in 2013. Only European official ecological label that is used in all countries of the European Union, this label is given to environmentally friendly resorts. Here are a few examples of actions that have been implemented at Les Baleines: reduced consumption of water and energy, no use of pesticides, selective sorting of household waste, electric car rental…With this label, The Les Baleines campsite proves that it is possible to combine environmental friendliness and economical activity. To go on holiday at Les Baleines, means to support an environmental progress initiative.

You dream of the other side of the world, of nature, of peace and quiet, of simplicity in a comfortable and cosy setting? Look no further: Les Baleines camp site is meant for you! Nestled at the tip of the island, a stone throw from the famous Phare des Baleines (lighthouse), the camp site boasts direct access to the beach on the wild side and is a few minutes from the large and beautiful La Conche beach. Far from the city, near the ocean, far from engines, near bicycles, far from asphalt, near waves, meet yourself in the heart of nature.

The team will set you up in the spot that best matches your expectations. Here, we focus on genuineness and total relaxation. No swimming-pool or organized evening parties but the sea is a path away. Free loan of board games and books, reading area, library,3 boules pitches, ping-pong tables, beach-volley court, 5 collective barbecue areas, children playground, bicycle rental, TV corner, two wi-fi zones: everything is done for you to enjoy healthy and relaxing holidays! In July/August a skilled animator is in charge of organizing fun activities for your children aged 4 to 12. Should you need to eat some: grocery, bread and viennoiserie pastry (baked on the premises), take-away, breakfasts, snacks.

5 star atmosphere The five of us stayed in a canvas lodge. The lodge is very spacious, well equipped and very pleasant. A very pleasant and extremely well-maintained camp site… and of course: direct access to the beach, and splendid view on the lighthouse... Mr K. Sept. 2016

Practical information

DIRECTIONS:After the bridge, head towards the Phare des Baleines drive all the way up through the Ile de Ré on the D735 road. Before the Phare (lighthouse) car park, take a left on the rue du Chaume, then take the rue de la Madeleine and go straight toward the camp site. Turn left on the chemin des Pérouses, the camp site entrance is 218 yd away.

Excellent holidays at Les Baleines camp site, great on all levels! The pitch for our mobile home and the location of the camp site are just perfect, between the wild beach and La Conche beach, a stone throw from the lighthouse, with magnificent sunsets every evening. Quiet and clean camp site, with a good supply of real rest. Our stay was enchanting and we will most certainly come back. The tip of the island is a little paradise. Mme B. Sept. 2016

Why come to Les Baleines?

The setting is deliciously Atlantic and wild. The pitches are all different, in an environment that has remained natural. The camp site is very well kept, with modern facilities, low-key activities, and a warm welcome. There is a summer, family, peaceful atmosphere, a lot of guests come from different countries, which is a plus. This is why we have come here on a regular basis for the past twenty years… Mr M.
