EnPanamá apenas salimos de la ciudad nos encontramoscon una naturaleza viva que habla por sí sola y quenos hace sentir la verdadera dimensión de lo humano.Selva que envuelve, que llena los ojos de cielo y solpara, de pronto, entregarnos lluvia, rayos y truenos,mostrando quién tiene el verdadero poder...así esPanamá.
A propósito, con la revista que tiene Usted en susmanos, también estamos empezando a escribir unrenglón más de la historia de Coronado. En unesfuerzo conjunto entre la Asociación de Residentes dePlaya Coronado, Coronado Golf & Beach Club,Desarrollo Coronado y nuestra casa editora SuiGeneris, estamos lanzando este esfuerzo editorial quea partir de hoy, será la revista oficial del área ydistribuída además en todo el sector de forma gratuita,a importantes centros turísticos y comerciales de laciudad.

The festival will start inCoronado's Equestrian Club thisJanuary 19th., and the closing willbe on March 3rd. at the FigaliConvention Center Plaza.
Competitors will have toaccumulate sufficient points inorder to reach to the grand final.For this, they have to compete indifferent categories of the contest,which includes, Chicken, Pork(Baby Back Ribs), meat("Costillòn o Punta de Palomilla")and the new category ofHamburgers. There will be morethan 10 thousand dollars in prizes.

TEMPORADA de conciertos 2013en CORONADO
La Asociación Nacional de Conciertos se prepara para abrir la Temporada deConciertos 2013 en Coronado con su destacada Orquesta Avanzada delCampamento Musical Juvenil.
La cita es el 26 de enero, a las 7:00 p.m. en el Salón Bahía Serena. El evento serealiza a beneficio del Programa de Becas que la Asociación mantiene en favorde la promoción de la educación musical en nuestro país.
The National Concerts Association is preparing to open the 2013 ConcertsSeasons in Coronado with the outstanding Advanced Orchestra of the MusicalYouth Camp. The date is January 26th at 7:00 p.m. at the Bahia Serena Salon.The event is in benefit of the Association's Scholarship Program in favour to pro-mote the musical education in our country.
La ASOCIACIÓN NACIONAL DE CONCIERTOS es una organizaciónprivada sin fines de lucro, dedicada principalmente a fomentar la afición porla música clásica. Gracias a la inspiración de Terence Ford, hace 25 añosse inició el Campamento Musical Juvenil en donde miles de jóvenes detodos los estratos del país, aprovechan las clases de música impartidas poreducadores nacionales y extranjeros fortaleciendo así su formaciónhumana y musical, escogiendo, a través de la música, un camino de vidaquizás diferente, pero lleno de inmensas riquezas.
El campamento es una oportunidad donde los jóvenes muestran su talentoy desarrollan sus habilidades profesionales y artísticas y sobre todo crecencomo personas. En estos campamentos se ha logrado incorporar personaldocente del Conservatorio de Oberlin, el más antiguo de los EstadosUnidos de América.
THE NATIONAL CONCERTS ASSOCIATION is a non-profit privateorganization, dedicated principally to promote the affiliation to classicmusic. Thanks to the inspiration of Terence Ford, 25 years ago theMusical Youth Camp began where thousands of young people of allsocial levels of the country, could take advantage of the musicclasses given by national and international professors and therefore,strengthening their musical training, choosing, though music, adifferent way of life, but full of richness.
The camp is an opportunity for young people to demonstrate theirtalent and develop their professional and artistic abilities and, above
all, to grow as persons. In these camps there areprofessionals such as those from the OberlinConservatory, the oldest in the United States ofAmerica. The camps also have the cooperation oftalented musical directors and graduate students ofother conservatories.
2013 Concer ts Season in Coronado
El Campamento Musical Juvenil de la Asociación Nacional de Conciertos,este año sobrepasó el número de jóvenes inscritos en años anteriores, 175participantes. Después de varias audiciones se determinó el nivel de cadaparticipante dividiendo así los grupos en 3 orquestas. A estas orquestas seles identificó con los nombres de insignes músicos nacionales: OrquestaAlfredo Saint Malo (nivel básico), Orquesta Narciso Garay (nivelintermedio) y la Orquesta Roque Cordero (nivel avanzado).
Sin duda, es un privilegio contar con la presencia de estos jóvenes que congran esfuerzo y dedicación presentarán lo más nutrido de su repertorioclásico, en una noche que promete cultura traída, en esta oportunidad, pornuestros jóvenes panameños.
The Musical Youth Camp of the National Concerts Association, surpassed,this year, the amount of young people enrolled in previous years; 175participants. After several auditions, the level of each participant wasdetermined; dividing the groups in 3 orchestras. The orchestras wereidentified with the names of recognized national musicians: Alfredo SaintMalo Orchesta (basic level), Narciso Garay Orchestra (intermediate level)and Roque Cordero Orchestra (advance level).
Undoubtedly, it is a privilege to count with the presence of these youngpeople who with great effort and dedication will present outstanding piecesof their extensive repertoire in a night that promises culture brought, in thisoccasion, by our Panamanian young people.

CabrEraen e l mar de las ideas
Acostumbrado como está a los medios, entrevistas y fotos, Edwin Cabrera se maneja con extremasoltura cuando de ser entrevistado se trata. En su oficina de Radio Panamá, papeles en elescritorio lo reclaman, posters en blanco y negro le recuerdan cómo empezó todo, una vistaabierta a la ciudad que mira sin recelo, pero con los ojos críticos de padre protector.
Edwin Cabrera es un hombre versátil, multidisciplinario se diría en los círculos académicos. EsDirector de Radio Panamá, reconocida emisora cuya sede en el país representa al importanteconsorcio de medios de comunicación social español, Grupo Prisa; una organización que halogrado éxito en cada país latinoamericano: Radio Caracol en Colombia, ADN en Chile, RadioContinental en Argentina y en España con la Cadena Ser. Desde la cabina de Radio Panamá seanalizan día a día las perspectivas de un pueblo que conforme crece, no deja de sorprendernos,como buen adolescente rebelde e ingenioso.
También es profesor y así lo llama todo el que lo conoce o reconoce: Profesor Cabrera. Dictóclases por 22 años en el Colegio La Salle donde se graduó y luego de un receso ha regresado alas aulas sorprendido por la nueva realidad que lo sobrecoge en el sistema educativo del quesiempre está pendiente.
Es analista político para la empresa Medcom y asesor político del Diario La Prensa, los dospuntales más fuertes en lo que a grupos de comunicación se refiere por lo que podemos decir quenuestro primer entrevistado es un experto en manejo de mass media.
También apasionado de los deportes. Fue presidente de la Liga de Beisbol de Panamá Metro por5 años y organizador de los Juegos Centroamericanos cuando le tocó ser sede a nuestro país yluego, organizador del Mundial de Beisbol.
Además y para apretar más su agenda, es Presidente de la Asociación de Residentes de PlayaCoronado, razón por la cual le solicitamos inaugurar nuestra primera portada de Coronado Life ybrindarnos la entrevista que a continuación le ofrecemos.
¿Será posible que Edwin Cabrera sume un nuevo puesto a su agenda, que tenga que ver con uncargo público? Aqui se lo contamos.

“La radio sigue siendo enPanamá el medio de mayorpenetración, de eso no cabeduda. El periódico poneagendas, plantea temas y latelevisión ofrece un alto nivel decredibilidad. El panameño lo queve en televisión lo cree.’
Radio, prensa, televisión,política, educación, liderazgocomunitario, deportes. Todasestas palabras nos hablan deEdwin Cabrera. A la luz deltiempo, ¿Cuál diría que ha sidosu más grande pasión; la política,como el eje que armoniza yequilibra la sociedad o el deporte,como la búsqueda humana de laexcelencia a través de lacompetencia sana? Diría que ambas cosas sonafines, en ambos casos estamoshablando del desarrollo humano.La política es el arte de gobernar,de alcanzar el poder político delEstado y para eso el ser humanose tiene que organizar a travésde ideologías y objetivos.En el deporte es igual. Serequiere disciplina, constancia yen el caso de un país comoPanamá es una forma tambiénde generar la denominadamovilidad social. Los deportesson una vitrina para que muchosjóvenes de estratos socialespopulares puedan seguiravanzando con sus familias.
¿Y considera que tanto enpolítica como en deportes,hemos logrado avances?Lamentablemente no. Porqueseguimos viendo el deporte o la
cultura como un gasto y no comouna inversión. Los políticos notienen claro el aporte que éstasáreas dan a la sociedad. Lospolíticos panameños sólo ven lapolítica para alcanzar el poder yen muy pocas ocasiones comoun mecanismo para transformarla sociedad, de manera que nosfalta un buen tramo por recorrer.
Usted es reconocido como unanalista político,alguien querevisa permanentemente larealidad social buscando esaperspectiva que, de repente, elciudadano común no percibefácilmente. Si tuviéramos queanalizar el camino de Panamá delos últimos años, ¿Cuál sería sureflexión?Creo que la sociedad panameñano termina de asumir seriamentela política como la posibilidad dealcanzar el poder del Estado.Tenemos un país muy curioso,cada cinco años gana laoposición, eso habla bien delsistema, pero nos hace faltaelevar más la cultura política paraque al momento de elegirseamos más exigentes.
Todavía elegimos al vecino, alque me da un bloque de cementoo un jamón, sin reflexionar lo que
yo deseo que sean misservidores públicos. Cuando enPanamá mejoremos el tema de laeducación vamos a resolvernuestros problemas con mayorfacilidad y visión.
Los comunicadores socialessomos antenas de la sociedad,sin embargo los medios queusamos cambian históricamentey algunos adoptan mayorvigencia e influencia que otros.Antes era la radio hasta que llególa televisón y lo visual convirtió lacomunicación en magia.¿Considera que la radio siguesiendo un medio deinfluencia para el panameño?La radio sigue siendo en Panamáel medio de mayor penetración,de eso no cabe duda. Elperiódico pone agendas, planteatemas y la televisión ofrece unalto nivel de credibilidad. Elpanameño lo que ve en televisiónlo cree. Pero la radio tiene un poder depenetración inmenso, hoytenemos una radio interactiva,dinámica, donde llamas porteléfono, grabas desde un celularuna declaración y la transmitesen vivo. La radio moderna hadejado el estudio para salir a lacalle.

En otros temas, uno de los polosde desarrollo más interesantes yprósperos de la ciudad esCoronado y sus alrededores, eslo que yo llamo la capital de lasplayas panameñas. Entre todassus ocupaciones, es presidentede la Asociación de Residentesde Playa Coronado. ¿Cómoempieza su relación con estesector y qué labor se estárealizando desde su gestión?Bueno, hace 10 años atrás, miesposa y yo estábamos buscandohacer una inversión en una casade playa o de campo, ya que mihija estaba creciendo.
Por casualidades de la vida, senos dio la oportunidad de compraruna casa en Coronado colindantea la casa de un querido amigo, enrealidad un hermano para mícomo es Guido Rodríguez,Director de Noticias de TVN, conquien estudié en el Colegio LaSalle, por lo que la propiedadtiene un valor sentimental enormepara nosotros.
Pero además de haber adquiridola propiedad a un precio muyconveniente, a los 5 años cambiéla hipoteca a otro banco y resultaque la vivienda había adquirido eldoble de su valor por lo que me di
cuenta que no sólo tenía un valorsentimental muy fuerte sino quetambién había hecho un buennegocio.
Así comenzaría a generarse lafilosofía Coronadiense y entreCésar Tribaldos y GuidoRodríguez me involucraron en laselecciones de la Asociación de lacual me hice parte y terminésiendo presidente.
Yo creo mucho en el sentido deorganización, en cuestionescomunitarias. El ser humanotiende a asociarse y aun cuandoyo voy a Coronado adescansar, pues también tengotrabajo y responsabilidades.
¿Cuáles son los retos que hayque atender en la zona deresidentes?Principalmente diría que laseguridad. Al ser casasprincipalmente se requiere demucha mayor seguridad, hay quetrabajar de cerca con la políciaque necesita recursos, inclusiveles hemos comprado una FourWheel para que puedan patrullarla playa, de manera que estamostrabajando fuertemente en ello.
Hay personas que buscan el
silencio. Yo soy muy citadino y meencanta tener 3 supermercadoscerca, 8 bancos, todo tipo deestablecimientos, de manera queesta estructura de casas, decomplejos requiere una seguridadmuy alta también. Coronado es una ciudadbalneario y creo que es la primeraen el Pacífico.
Inclusive hay quienes piensanque debería convertirse enprovincia o en capital de unanueva provincia.Si, cuando se habla de crear unadécima provincia en el sectoroeste de la Provincia de Panamá,la pelea está entre Arraiján y LaChorrera.
Inclusive se dijo que en estegobierno o en otro se podríahacer que el tren pase de LaChorrera a la Terminal de Albrook,si eso se hace en algún momentova a cambiar toda la cultura deluso de las comunidades de playay también cambiara el uso delautomóvil como transporte.
Y algunas personas comonosotros pensarán en algúnmomento, vivir en Coronado ytener a Panamá como un lugar devisita.

Si, suena muy interesante.Hemos entrado a un nuevo año ysiempre hacemos reflexionessobre lo que viene. ¿Cuáles serán nuestrosprincipales retos en Panamá?El reto más importante será en el2014 cuando nos toque elegir unnuevo gobernante. Viviendo en Coronado he vistouna realidad que no veía desdePanamá. En la ciudad notenemos tanto acceso a lasautoridades como en el interior.
En este caso tenemos el Distritode Chame por un lado y el Distritode San Carlos por el otro. Es muyimportante que las autoridadesde nuestros Corregimientos seanpersonas capaces, sobretodocuando tenemos esta mezclade áreas urbanas y rurales.
Se requieren de representantesidóneos para no perder laoportunidad de lograr sudesarrollo de maneraadecuada.
Entonces debemos elegircorrectamente e instar a losbuenos ciudadanos a queparticipen.
En el Distrito de Chame, elAlcalde lleva más de 20 años enel cargo y con todo respeto tengoque decir, que la gestión delAlcalde es una desgracia.
Hay una cantidad de temas queno hemos podido resolver porqueno quiere poner un Corregidorpara Coronado, una zona quetiene una población permanentey flotante de fines de semana yamerita que tengamos unaautoridad, pero no hay maneraque lo entienda y actúa porrevanchismos.
Yo creo que este es un reto quetenemos no sólo en Coronado,sino en todo el país. Podemoscriticar a todos los gobiernos perono hay que olvidarnos quequienes los ponemos en esassillas somos nosotros, así queese es el gran reto que tenemoscomo nación de aquí en adelante.
Pasaría Edwin Cabrera deanalista y empresario de medios,a actuar en política en algúnmomento?No, yo milité por 25 años en elPartido Demócrata Cristiano,algo de lo cual no me arrepiento
porque aprendí muchas cosasque hoy ejecuto y me permitióformarme política e ideológica-mente. Pero han sido muchosaños y volver a la política no memotiva realmente.
Pero si se va a vivir a Coronadode forma permanente podría serRepresentante de Corregidor oAlcalde. Tiene todo el perfil y suexperiencia habla por si misma.A lo mejor si me fuera a vivir aCoronado sí lo pensaría. Antesnos formaban ideológicamente,políticamente y además paraasumir la administración pública,de manera que entiendo de eso.
Podría ser Alcalde oRepresentante, pero en todocaso sería un servidor públicoque trabaje con la comunidaddirectamente. Que ayude a que lacomunidad se organice, porqueeso ayuda a que las cargassociales se alivien de inmediato.Si, lo pensaría. ahora que lodice...¿Por qué no?.

He's used to the media, interviews and photos; EdwinCabrera handles himself smoothly when he is beinginterviewed. In his office, Radio Panama, papers on hisdesk claim his attention, posters in black and whitereminds him how everything started; he is like an openview of the city that looks without mistrust, but with aprotective father's critic eyes.
Edwin Cabrera is a versatile, multi-disciplinary man. Thisis what would be said of him in the academic circles. Heis Director of Radio Panama; a well-known broadcaststation with headquarters in Panama and represents animportant consortium of social communications media inSpanish; Grupo Prisa. An organization that has achievedsuccess in each Latin American country: "Radio Caracol"in Colombia, AND in Chile, "Radio Continental" inArgentina and in Spain with the "Cadena Ser". From thebooth of Radio Panama; day to day, perspectives of thiscountry are analysed; that as it grows, does not stopsurprising us as if we were rebellious and ingeniousteenagers.
He is also professor and everyone who knows him callhim as such: Professor Cabrera. He gave classes for 22years in "Colegio La Salle" where he graduated and aftera recess, he is back in the classrooms and surprised bythe new reality that overwhelms him in the educationsystem of which he is always on the look-out.
He is a political analyst for Medcom company andpolitical advisor of La Prensa Newspaper, the twostrongest pointers regarding communication groups dueto which we can say that our first interviewer is an expertin handling mass media.
He is also a passionate for sports. He was president ofPanama Metro Baseball League for 5 years andorganizer of the Central American Games when Panamawas the host country and after of the WorldwideBaseball.
Also and to tighten his agenda, he is President ofCoronado Beach Residents Association; due to which werequested him to inaugurate our first front page ofCoronado Life Magazine and offer us an interview whichwe present to you.

Radio, press, television, politics, education,community leadership, sports. All of these words tellus about Edwin Cabrera. As of today, which wouldyou saw has been your greatest passion; politics, ascentre that harmonizes and balances society orsports; as the search of human being for excellencythrough a healthy competition? I would say both are related. In both cases we aretalking about human being development. Politics isthe art to govern, to achieve political power of theState and for that, people have to be organizedthrough ideologies and objectives. In sports, it's the same. It requires discipline,perseverance and in the case of a country likePanama, it is also a way of generating the so calledsocial mobility. Sports are windows for many youngpeople of different social levels to continueadvancing with their families.
And do you consider that in politics as well as insports, we have made progress?Unfortunately, no. Because we continue viewingsports or culture as an expense and not as aninvestment. Politicians don't understand clearly thecontribution of these areas to society. Panamanianpoliticians view politics only as a means to achievepower and, in very rare occasions, as a mechanism totransform society, therefore; we still have a longstretch to go.
You are recognized as a politics analyst, someonewho permanently reviews the social reality looking forthat perspective that, suddenly, the common citizendoes not easily perceive. If we had to analysePanama's trajectory of the last years, Which would beyour thoughts? I think the Panamanian society has not seriouslyassume politics as a possibility to achieve the State'spower. We have a very odd country, every five yearsthe opposing party wins, that speaks good of thesystem; but we need to raise the political culture sowhen we are going to choose; we can be moredemanding. We still choose the neighbour who givesus cement or the ham; without thinking about how Iwant my public officials to be. When we improve the
subject of education in Panama; we are going to beable to solve our problems easily and with a vision.
We, social communicators are like antennas ofsociety; nevertheless, the media we use changeshistorically and some adopt a greater force andinfluence than others. The radio was before thetelevision and the visual aspect changedcommunication into magic. Do you consider that theradio is still an influential media for the Panamanian? The radio in Panama is still the greatest means ofpenetration, there is no doubt about that. Thenewspaper puts agendas, sets new topics and thetelevision offers a high level of credibility. Whateverthe Panamanian sees on the television; he believes it.But the radio has a huge penetrating power.Today wehave interactive radio; dynamic, where you call byphone, tape from a cellular phone a declaration andyou transmit it in live. Modern radio has left thestudio to be out in the streets.
One of the most important and prosperous developingzones of the city is Coronado and its surroundings; itis what I call the capital of the Panamanian Beaches.Among your many occupations, you are President ofPlaya Coronado Residents Association. How did youstart your relation with this sector and what work areyou doing since your administration?
Well, 10 years ago, my wife and I were looking tomake an investment in a beach house or countryhouse because my daughter was growing. By one ofthose coincidence of life, we had the opportunity tobuy a house in Coronado adjoining the house of a verydear friend; really, like a brother to me as is GuidoRodriguez, TVN News Director, with whom I studied inColegio La Salle. Because to this, the property has ahuge sentimental value for us.
But also having bought the property at a veryconvenient price; after 5 years I changed the mortgageto another bank and I realized that the property hadincrease its value and therefore, it had not only a verystrong sentimental value but I had also made a gooddeal.

This is how the "Coronadiense" philosophy wouldbe created; and between Cèsar Tribaldos andGuido Rodrìguez, they would involve me in theAssociation's elections of which I became part andended up being the President. I very much believein the sense of organization regarding communityissues. Human being tends to associate and eventhough I go to Coronado to rest; well, I also havework and responsibilities.
What are the challenges you have to face inresidents zone?Principally, I would say, security. As houses, theyrequire much more security. One has to workclosely with the police who needs resources. Weeven bought a Four Wheel for them to patrol thebeach; so we are really working strong on this.
People look for silence. I am very city-like and Ilove having 3 supermarkets near, 8 banks andevery kind of establishment; therefore, this type ofhouse structure, or house complex; needs a veryhigh security also. Coronado is a beach city and Ithink it is the first of the Pacific.
There are even those who think that it shouldbecome a province or the capital of a newprovince... Yes, when there is talk about a tenth province inthe west sector of the Province of Panama, theargument is between Arraijàn and La Chorrera.It was also said that this government or the nextone could arrange the train to go from La Chorrerato Albrook Terminal. If this is done at any givenmoment; it is going to change the whole culture ofthe beach communities and it will also change hav-ing to use a car as transportation. And there willalso be people like us that would think in sometime, to live in Coronado and have Panama as avisiting area.
Yes, it sounds very interesting. We have started anew year and we always reflect upon what is tocome. What would be our main challenges inPanama?The most important challenge will be in 2014 whenwe have to choose a new president. Living inCoronado I have seen a reality I did not see whenI was in Panama. In the city we do not haveaccess to the authorities as we have in the Interior.In this case we have the District of Chame, on oneside and the District of San Carlos on the other. Itis very important that the authorities of our townsshould be capable people; more so when we have
this mixture of rural and urban areas. Suitablerepresentatives are required in order not to loosethe opportunity to achieve the adequatedevelopment of the area.
Therefore, we must choose correctly andencourage the good citizens to participate. In theDistrict of Chame, the Mayor has more than 20years in the position and, with all due respect, Ihave to say that the administration of the Mayor isa disgrace. There are whatever amount ofsubjects that have not been solved because hedoes not want to assign a "Corregidor" forCoronado, a zone that has a permanent andfloating population during the weekends and itwarrants an authority; but there is no way for himto understand this and he acts mindlessly.
I think this is a challenge we have not only inCoronado but in the whole country. We cancriticize every government but we should notforget we placed them in their posts; therefore, it isa huge challenge we have as a nation from hereon.
Would Edwin Cabrera go from political analyst andmedia businessman, to perform in politics at anymoment? No, for 25 years I was in the "Partido DemocrataCristiano", which I don't regret because I learned alot that I put in practice nowadays and that allowedme to train myself political and ideologically. Butthere were many years and entering politics againdoes not really motivate me.
But if you are going to live in Coronadopermanently you could be Representative orMayor. You have the profile and your experiencespeaks for itself. Maybe if I were to live in Coronado, I would thinkabout it. Before, we were trained, Ideologically,politically and also to assume publicadministration; so I do understand about that.
I could be Mayor or a Representative, butwhichever the case may be; a public officer whowould work directly with the community. Whowould help the community to organize itselfbecause this helps to lessen immediately thesocial burdens. Yes, I would think about it; Whynot?

Coronado Golf & Beach Resort has more than five year experience determining the measuresand specifications to commission the manufacture of the golf clubs for each player. With thesespecifications, the manufacturer can assemble the golf clubs to have a perfect result. Thesegolf clubs are registered by the same manufacturing company, under the name of the buyer,and in any other moment when a new golf club is required or they need to replace any other;the manufacturing company will be able to do so without needing the specifications again.
We emphatically suggest that the golf clubs you use, must be custom made.
The importance of having custom made golf clubsGolf clubs have many specifications. The flexibility of the club, from the flexing point (locationof the club's flexibility), the angle of the "face" of the club (specifically of the driver), the widthof the grip, the length of the golf club and, the most important, the shot angle of the club.

Una semilla se sembró un 21 de enero de 1993, al realizarse una reunión organizativa en la que asistieron Liriola Pitti, Arq.Humberto Martínez, Arq. Jaime Ventura, Roberto De Lima (q.e.p.d.), Rogelio Romero De la Guardia, Lindi Paredes e I. RobertoEisenmann III. Cristalizándose en la inauguración 8 años después el 13 de enero 2001 del Club Ecuestre Coronado.
El momento culminante fue cuando nombró la calle principal del Club Ecuestre, “Paseo Woodrow De Castro”, en memoria de esteinolvidable coronadiense aficionado a la equitación. Asi mismo la pista principal del Club Coronado lleva su nombre ya quecontribuyó enormemente a la organización de eventos de equitación en Coronado, donde se exhibían caballos de paso y seejecutaban magníficos espectáculos de salto ecuestre. Fue también el primero en construir establos para la cría de caballos depaso peruanos en Coronado. El Club Ecuestre de Coronado es, en gran medida, producto de su inspiración.
En una extensión dotada de un sendero de un kilómetro y medio de largo, “privado y tranquilo, cubierto por árboles enormes yfrondosos”, hará las delicias de los amantes de la equitación una experiencia única. Todo está contemplado: sendero, pistas paraeventos de categoría internacional, establos, facilidades para la atención y cuidado completo de los caballos, óptimas condicionesde higiene, salubridad y mantenimiento preventivo, y por si fuera poco, una Casa Club Ecuestre provista de un restaurantecampestre, La Carreta de primera categoría, con pista de resonancia interna, …muy al estilo de Coronado.

A seed was planted on January 21st, 1993. In the organizational meeting attended Liriola Pitti, the ArchitectHumberto Martinez, the Architect Jaime Ventura, Roberto De Lima (RIP), Rogelio Romero De la Guardia,Lindi Paredes and I, Roberto Eisenmann III. After 8 years the opening was held January 13th, 2001 and theCoronado Equestrian Club was officially a dream come true.
The highlighted moment was when the Equestrian Club main street was named, “Paseo Woodrow DeCastro”, honoring Mr. Woodrow De Castro in memory of this unforgettable riding enthusiast.
Likewise the main track of Coronado Equestrian Club bears his name. He contributed greatly to theorganization of equestrian events in Coronado, where he exhibited Paso Horses and ran great shows. Hewas also the first to build stables for breeding Peruvian Paso horses in Coronado. The Coronado EquestrianClub is largely a product of his inspiration.
A private and quite area equipped with a trail of a mile long, the Coronado Equestrian Club is covered byhuge trees and lush. It will delight lovers of riding as a unique experience. Everything is provided: trails,tracks, stables, full horse’s care facilities with good hygiene conditions, sanitation and preventivemaintenance. Last but not least, a clubhouse equipped with a western restaurant setting named La Carreta.Quite the style of Coronado.

Me dijeron que daban buena suerte y lo creí de inmediato. Lasmariposas amarillas revolotean alrededor nuestro como una de esashermosas bienvenidas preparadas a la entrada de un hotel. Locurioso es que si, es verdad, nos encontramos en un hotel donde laspiscinas y restaurantes hablan de un confort moderno y premeditado,sin embargo, a sólo unos pasos, mis ojos señalan un camino sin fin,lleno de un verdor mágico al que quiero entrar y del que no estoysegura de querer salir.
La entrada al Bosque Seco.De pronto, la naturaleza abundante y distraída marca el camino deentrada a una de las joyas que el Desarrollo Coronado ha conserva-do desde que el Ingeniero Jaime Quirós, miembro del Centro deEstudios Científicos Aplicados, encontró entre las cientos dehectáreas de Coronado, este Bosque Seco Pre Montano que hoylleva el nombre de Dr. Eugene Eisenmann, en homenaje al distingui-do ornitólogo e investigador panameño, precursor de la FundaciónAvifauna, encargada de preservar la flora y fauna del área.
La experiencia de salir de la habitación del Hotel Coronado paravisitar el Bosque Seco es enriquecedora en varios niveles. De prontola vista se llena de un verdor que abruma por lo denso, por lo grande,por lo espeso, por lo amplio. Entiendo el mensaje, porque lo siento.Es la naturaleza hablando de sí misma, expresándose cómo si seencontrara en una danza con el tiempo, ofreciendo un regalo ante losojos de los visitantes.
Aves azules que distraen la mirada sin crear confusión. Sonidos queno sabemos exactamente de dónde provienen, sin embargo, sonparte de ese todo armónico que sólo la presencia humana interrumpecon respeto.
Son 45 hectáreas demarcadas por un camino sinuoso, muy bientrabajado, donde han sido detallados en carteles las característicasde cada árbol, de cada zona, de manera que la experiencia seenriquece a cada paso con una reflexión. Edwin, nuestro guia lo sabetodo. Cuenta la historia de cada árbol, sabe quien emite aquel sonidoque parece extraño. En realidad, el Bosque Seco es un gran labora-torio donde fauna y flora se encuentran en un estado de virginidadque los desarrolladores han prometido preservar por siempre.

Llegando al quinto descanso, donde unas bancasnos reciben en medio de árboles de una alturaabrumadora, se oye el fuerte grito de un ave. Esuna madre, dice Edwin con una sabiduría serena.“Debe estar buscando a alguien” sentenciamientras retomamos el camino.
Investigadores del Instituto Smithsonian observanensimismados unas hojas diminutas. Calladosturistas saludan en silencio como si estuvieran enla comunión de una iglesia. Si, entiendo elmensaje. La naturaleza habla y cuando lo hace,sólo queda el respeto y el amor.
De pronto la vista se relaja ante la apertura de uncampo de tierra seca y bordeante, que causapequeñas llanuras, subidas y bajadas que creanun paisaje también hermoso. Ahora es diferentetodo y sin embargo, la belleza permanece.
Nuestro guía nos indica que ya vamos a salir delbosque y una sensación de vacio entra en mí. Depronto el ruido de la ciudad aparece en mi cabezaqueriendo arruinarlo todo pero no, debo conservaresta sensación de paz todo el tiempo que pueda.
Un compañero de Edwin se nos acerca con unprecioso visitante entre las manos. Un pequeñopajarito, casi recién nacido, sin duda asustado yfuera de control nos mira como si fuéramosgigantes. “Estaba perdido. Anda buscando a sumamá” dice mientras lo acaricia. Edwin lo miracontento, como si hubiera ganado la lotería.Quinto descanso -le indica- su mamá lo estállamando...

They told me they bring good luck and I believed thatimmediately. Yellow butterflies flying around us like one of thosebeautiful welcome prepared at the entrance of a hotel. Thecurious part is that, we are indeed, in a hotel where theswimming pools and restaurants talk about premeditatedcomfort. Nevertheless, a few steps ahead, I see a never-end-ing road full of green magic where I want to go and that I amsure, would not want to leave.
The entrance of the Dry ForestSuddenly, nature, abundant and distracting, sets the road to theentrance to one of the jewels that Desarrollo Coronado haspreserved from the times of Eng. Jaime Quirós, member of the"Centro de Estudios Aplicados"; found among the hundreds ofhectares of Coronado, this Pre Mountain Dry Forest that todaycarries the name of Dr. Eugene Eisenmann; pays homage to thedistinguished Panamanian ornithologist and investigator,pioneer of the "Avifauna" Foundation, in charge of preservingthe flora and fauna of the area.
The experience of leaving the hotel room to visit the Dry Forestis enriching at several levels. There are 45 hectares marked by a sinuous road, very welltraced; where the characteristics of each tree and each zone;has been detailed in signs in a way that the experience isenriched at each step with a reflection. Edwin, our guide, knowseverything. He tells the story of each tree; he knows what
makes that particular strange sound. Truly, the Dry Forest is ahuge laboratory where fauna and flora meet in a virginity stateand that the developers have promised to preserve for always.
Reaching to the fifth break where we come upon benches in themiddle of trees with an overwhelming height, we hear the verystrong call of a bird. It is a female/mother, Edwin informs us witha calm wisdom. "She must be looking for someone" he says,while we get back to the trail.

Dan Buettner quizó descubrir el entrañable misterio de aquellas sociedades longevas, queconservan a sus ancianos hasta los cien años o más y que transmiten sus genes vigorososa las siguientes generaciones. Con esa meta, este explorador y profesor universitarionorteamericano, junto a un equipo de demógrafos y científicos, dedicaron 7 años enestudiar los lugares de la Tierra donde sus pobladores viven por más tiempo.
Las Zonas Azules, como llamó Buettner a estos lugares privilegiados, fueron encontradosen 5 lugares del planeta. Okinawa en Japón, Cerdeña en Italia, la península Nicoya enCosta Rica, Loma Linda en California y recientemente descubrió una en Ikaria, Grecia.
Pero ¿qué hace de éstos sitios, paraísos de la salud? Parece ser que se combina el clima,la alimentación y por supuesto, la actitud ante la vida. Desde la década del 70, Okinawa hasido calificado como uno de los lugares con mayor esperanza de vida. Sus habitantes vivenhasta más de los 100 años, en extraordinarias condiciones de salud. Sus habitantes sufrencinco veces menos cáncer de pulmón y cólon y seis veces menos enfermedadescardiovasculares con respecto a los norteamericanos. Los índices de obesidad sonrealmente bajos y la movilidad física es buena en edades avanzadas.
La alimentación es la base del secreto de la vida, como afirma Buettner. Aunque las zonasestàn distantes entre si, tienen algunas caracterìsticas en comùn: dedican tiempo aldescanso, tienen grandes amistades, fortalecen los lazos familiares, la dietea es ligera, ydan gran sentido a sus vidas. Es decir, comen poco y evitan la carne. También esimportante alejarse de los ruidos.
Los habitantes de Okinawa basan su dieta en verduras como el pepino japonés, la soyafermentada y el tofú. Pero también ayuda que en Japón los ancianos son venerados yapoyados a través de toda una extensa red social. Sus ancianos son cuidados y amados,no olvidados o desechados como en otras culturas. En Cerdeña, donde se encuentra elmayor número de hombres centenarios a nivel mundial; no les faltan dosvasitos de vino diarios con las comidas. Loma Linda, en California, es el lugar conmayor concentración de miembros de la Iglesia Adventista del Séptimo Día en elmundo, según Buettner: “han convertido este lugar realmente en una blue zone.Los adventistas comen mucha verdura, según dictamina la Biblia, establecenfuertes redes de familia y confianza y son seguidores estrictos del Sabbath, estoes, un día a la semana se dedican escrupulosamente a descansar.Esas son algunas de las razones por las que viven 11 años más que el resto deestadounidenses”.
En la Península de Nicoya, nuestros vecinos costarricenses comen muchas frutasy cereales ricos en antioxidantes. El agua es rica en minerales, y los nicoyanosacostumbran a hacer ejercicios antes de ir a trabajar y toman un buen desayuno.Se le considera la zona azul mas grande, donde vive mucha gente mayor de 100años. Una persona de 60 años en Costa Rica tiene cuatro veces más posibilidadesde llegar a los 90 que un sexagenario norteamericano. Y los costarricenses gastan15 veces menos en cuidados de la salud que los habitantes de América del Norte.
Las investigaciones demuestran que el componente genético del envejecimientoes pequeño, según Robert Kane, del Centro de Envejecimiento de la Universidadde Minnesota: varía entre un 6% y un 25%. Eso sí, se considera que el impacto dela obesidad, principalmente en Estados Unidos hará descender las expectativas devida. ¿Cómo podemos influir sobre el porcentaje restante de nuestra longevidad?En verdad, es un mecanismo que todavía no está del todo claro. Pero paraBuettner, es evidente que las personas pueden ejercer cierto control a la hora demejorar su expectativa de vida.
Según la teoría de Buettner, no se consigue la longevidad en un frasco de píldoraspara adelgazar o con terapias hormonales, sino incorporando un menú a la cartade hábitos simples y sumergiéndose en una poderosa red social.
Sin embargo y dejando el pesimismo, podrían aparecer nuevas blue zones en elmundo. Panamá, por ejemplo, dotada de una naturaleza prodigiosa, poblada congente amable y sonriente, un lugar donde los mangos caen de los árboles sin quenadie los recoja y donde abundan los vegetales; tendría las condiciones para mantener la vida por mucho tiempo de nuestros queridos ancianos.
Pero ¿estaríamos dispuestos a perdernos aquel pescado frito con patacones yarroz con coco, a hacer ejercicios matinales, a dejar las frituras del desayuno ycambiarlas por frutas y a sonreir cuando vemos una larga fila de autos en eltránsito?
Pensándolo bien, más que buscar zonas geográficas en el mundo, quizásdebamos buscar aquella blue zone que todos tenemos dentro.
Aunque las cinco zonas azules se hallan en sitios tan alejadosgeográficamente y tan diferentes culturalmente tienen algunascaracterísticas en común. Todos ellos dedican tiempoal descanso en su rutina diaria, construyen grandes amistadesy fortalecen los lazos familiares, tienen una dieta ligeray dan sentido a sus vidas.

Dan Buettner they discover the intimate mystery of thosesocieties lived, which retain their elders to be a hundred yearsor more and pass on their genes to succeeding generationsstrong. With that goal, the browser and American universityprofessor, with a team of demographers and scientists, spentseven years studying the places on Earth where its peoplelive longer.
The Blue Zones, as these places called privileged Buettner,were found in five places on the planet. Okinawa in Japan,Sardinia in Italy, the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica, andLoma Linda in California recently discovered one in Ikaria,Greece.
But what makes these places, havens of health? It appearsthat combining climate, food and of course, the attitudetoward life. Since the 70's, Okinawa has been ranked as oneof the areas with longer life expectancy. Its inhabitants live tomore than 100 years, in special health conditions. Its inhabi-tants are five times less lung and colon cancer and six timesless cardiovascular disease compared to Americans.
Obesity rates are really low and physical mobility in old age isgood. Food is the basis of the secret of life, as Buettner said.Although the areas are distant from each other, have somecommon characteristics: take time to rest and have greatfriendships, strengthen family ties, the dietea is light, and givegreat meaning to their lives. That is, eat little and avoid meat.It is also important to move away from the noise.
The people of Okinawa diet based on vegetables such ascucumber Japanese fermented soy and tofu. Ahora estamos viviendo un crecimiento en laciudad porque tenemos una ley de PropiedadHorizontal (PH) muy seria y muy apropiada, enla cual no se debate la tenencia, señala el autor,que afirma que su inspiración para escribir este
libro fue su padre y laexperiencia que lepermitió vivir alempezar su carrera profesional.
La ciudad de Panamá, debido a su ampliocrecimiento, va a requerir mucha más atenciónen el tema de la propiedad horizontal, porque esallí donde se presentan las causas y conflictosproducidos en la mayoría de casos pordesconocimiento de la ley.
A juicio del arquitecto Ignacio Mallol, presenta-dor de la edición, el libro realiza un aporte muyimportante al tema debido a que, aparte de serun estudio muy completo del tema, va a servir deguía para los arquitectos, ingenieros, construc-tores y administradores de edificios, así como alos propios corredores de bienes y raíces.
Tenemos un nuevo libro de consulta perma-nente, con el cual aprenderemos a evitarconflictos y a resolver problemas en el sector,señaló el experimentado arquitecto panameño.

THE NEW HORIZONTAL PROPERTYWhen Ricardo Eskildsen was 26 years old, he worked in a well-known real estate company called Inversiones Florida, his father'sproperty. Since that experience, today the well-known lawyer and businessman, would understand the importance of the legal andjudicial guidelines that real estate transactions have, which growth in Panama has not stop being exponential. As a consequence of his vast experience in the real estate sector and from its legal point of view, Eskildsen launches to the mar-ket a publication that, undoubtedly, contributes not only to those related to that sector but also to those interested in investing inhorizontal properties in the country.
The New Horizontal Property is the title of the book that he recently presented to his colleagues and friends, with whom he sharedexperiences and opinions about the sector.
We are now living a growth in the city because we have a Horizontal Property law (PH for the name in Spanish) very serious andvery appropriate in which there is no debate about the possession, the author stresses, and he also states that his inspiration forwriting this book was his father and the experience he gained when he started his professional career.
Panama city, due to its vast growth, is going to require much more attention in the horizontal property subject because here iswhere the causes and conflicts are presented which in most of the cases are result of the lack of knowledge about the law.
In the opinion of architect Ignacio Mallol, announcer of the edition, the book is a very important contribution to the subject becausein addition that it is a complete study on the subject itself; it's going to serve as a guide for buildings' architects, engineers, con-tractors and administrators; as well as for real estate brokers. We have a new book that will be a permanent consultation, withwhich we will learn not to avoid conflicts and to solve problems in the sector, the experienced Panamanian architect stated.

No tiene una imagen dramática ni intelectual. No es una mujer de poses ni deexcesivo protocolo. Más bien te mira, abre su sonrisa como una mariposa y te dicelo que piensa. Que el INAC es un cascarón vacio, que los museos no tienen vidaexcepto el del Canal, que sería igual de exitosa sin la imagen de su padre, que ellano pinta por dinero sino porque le da la gana y que Botero esta sobrevalorado.
La figura de Olga Sinclair tiene varias lecturas que hablan de quien es y de lo quequiere. Como pintora, ha sabido sobrepasar el referente de un pintor de roble comoes Alfredo Sinclair, su padre y ser protagonista de su propia biografia trascendien-do a nivel internacional. Como mujer, es reconocida como luchadora y libre,siempre a favor y en defensa de las mujeres golpeadas, en contra de la violencia,protectora de su género.
Si fuéramos a juzgar la calidad del arte figurativo por los aciertos anatómicos deldibujo, habríamos de dar a Olga Sinclair muy buena puntuación. Pero ella es muchomás que un dibujo preciso o que una feliz aventura cromática. Hay otrasexploraciones.
Olga Sinclair pinta dominada por una pasión intensa. Sus cuerpos desnudos retan,con frecuencia, el equilibrio y se aventuran sinuosamente por los insondablescaminos de una danza amorosa y ritual que los convierte, de pronto, en unsímbolo lúdico que desborda, torrencialmente, esa pasión por la belleza de loscuerpos enlazados en un abrazo.
Así, Olga Sinclair se adentra en el mundo delser humano y desde dentro de ese ser nosretrata y nos relata toda unaexperiencia que aparece gravada en losmúsculos, en los huesos, en la piel y sobretodo en la actitud y en la gracia de las fig-uras, que no renuncian jamás a destacar labelleza intrínseca de la anatomía humana.

She does not have a dramatic image or an intellectual one. She isnot a woman of poses and neither of excessive protocol. She wouldjust look at you, unfold her smile and say whatever she thinks. Thatthe INAC is an empty shell, that the museums have no life exceptthat of the Canal, that she would be just as successful without theimage of her father, that she does not paint for money but becauseshe wants to and that Botero is overrated.
Olga Sinclair's personality has several aspects that talk about whoshe is and what she wants. As a painter, she has been able to sur-pass a hard-seasoned painter such as Alfredo Sinclair, her father; tobecome the main character of her own biography transcending aninternational level. As a woman, she is recognized as a fighter anda free spirit; always in favor and defending battered women, againstviolence, protector of her gender.
If we were to judge the quality of the figurative art based on theanatomic ascertains of the drawing, we would grant Olga Sinclairwith a very high scoring. But she is much more than a precise draw-ing or than a happy chromatic adventure. There are other layers toexplore.
Olga Sinclair paints ruled by a great passion. Her nude bodies fre-quently challenges balance and they venture wandering endlessroads of a loving dance and ritual that changes them, suddenly, in aplayful symbol that overflows, abundantly, that passion for the beau-ty of bodies joined in an embrace.

El próximo 14 al 19 de Enero del 2013, se llevará a cabo el décimoaniversario del Panama Jazz Festival en la Ciudad de Panamá. Con más de150 MIL personas asistentes a los festivales pasados, el Panama Jazz Festivales uno de los eventos más relevantes de Latinoamérica.
Pérez confirmó como invitados al Embajador de Buena Voluntad de UnescoHerbie Hancock, considerado como uno de los músicos más influyentes delmundo. Así también retornará el cuarteto estrella del genio de la músicaWayne Shorter, con Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci y Brian Blade, ganadores demuchos premios como “el mejor grupo del jazz actual”.
Además tendremos la participación de Bill Frisell, uno de los guitarristas másreconocidos del jazz de las últimas décadas con su banda tributo a JohnLennon. Dentro de los grandes artistas latinoamericanos se destacará la par-ticipación de la leyenda peruana Susana Baca, quién acaba de dar término asu mandato como Ministra de Cultura del Perú, y muchos otros invitadosnacionales e internacionales.
El Panama Jazz Festival tiene un compromiso con este país, y tiene comoobjetivo contribuir al fortalecimiento cultural, social, turístico, académico yeconómico de Panamá. Next January 14 - 19, 2013 the tenth anniversary of thePanama Jazz Festival will be held in Panama City. With morethan 150 thousand people attending these last festivities; thePanama Jazz Festival is one of the most relevant events ofLatin America.
Pérez confirmed as guests; the Goodwill Ambassador ofUnesco, Herbie Hancock, considered one of the most influentmusician of the world. Also the star quartet of the genius of themusic Wayne Shorter, with Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci andBrian Blade, winners of several prizes such as the "best jazzgroup of the moment"; will return. We will also have the participation of Bill Frisell, one of the mostwell-known guitarists of the last decades with his band a tributeto John Lennon.
