Which famous man said this ?

“How is education supposed to make me feel smarter ?

Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some

old stuff out of my brain.”

One mark may make all the difference! The boundary goes somewhere...

Don’t repeat the question!

Every year, very able students waste valuable seconds by explaining something, when the COMMAND WORD simply asks them to describe something.

“If a candidate fails to give me specific details about the place / location, I

will rarely award more than 2 marks for case study questions,”

“Even if the answer contains some worthy geographical information”

Page 36: Revision Event, Radley College, Oxford

The top answer is not comparing, it is just repeatingThe bottom one is comparing….

In the USA the number of people living in cities is much higher than in China

In the USA you live until you are 76, whereas in China you only live until you are 58.

75% of people live in cities in the USA, the figure is 33% in China.

You live until you are 76 in the USA and until you are 58 in China

A question focussed on new employment opportunities. The student wanted to use a sketch map to show detailed knowledge of their case study on Cambridge Science Park.

The purpose of the sketch map is clear, it has a title!

Good sketch maps always have a north arrow

….and an indication of scale

The content reveals a good knowledge of FACTS and LOCATION
