Goals of Project
Portray manual shifting as a process rather than as discrete events
Help people new to driving stick or new to this drivetrain to have a sense of where they are in the shifting process.
Create a stronger relationship between gears and:– Velocity– Other gears

This design overlays the current velocity onto the gearing framework - Lets the user know where to shift in relation to current and future speeds

The stairsteps & brackets allow the user to know when it is optimal to shift and when a downshift would be devastating or when an upshift would be premature.Current gear is highlighted.

The design brackets the gears into recommended velocities. From thesebrackets, the user can see where they are in relation to expected shifting behavior
Goals of Project - Completed
Portray manual shifting as a process rather than as discrete events
Help people new to driving stick or new to this drivetrain to have a sense of where they are in the shifting process.
Create a stronger relationship between gears and:– Velocity– Other gears
Additional Considerations
Differing loads – The system’s gear bracketing would need to be dynamic in order to advise the user under different use conditions
Differing Fuel Requirements – Raw MPG provides no reference point. Discrete “Power” and “Fuel Economy” switch (and related change to gear bracketing) could provide delineation between the hot dogs and the fuel misers.
