1.0 Introduction:

We are pleased to invite you to contribute to the sphere of academia and get recognized for

your efforts whilst at it. The aim of Samvid: Student Management Journal of SPJIMR is to foster a

spirit of innovation and creativity in the field of Management Research. We would like to invite you

to this special edition of SAMVID 2.0

SAMVID provides the right platform to disseminate the most relevant and contemporary

management thinking. It aims to serve academicians and practitioners alike with a blend of cutting

edge research and insightful opinions targeted at adding to the body of management knowledge

and influencing practices. The journal comprises a mix of research papers, management cases,

articles, opinions and reviews on contemporary management issues.

We welcome original papers from B-school students/faculties on Management, Business,

and Organizational issues. Papers, based on theoretical or empirical research or experience, should

illustrate the practical applicability and/or policy implications of the work described. Entries are invited in the following categories:

 A) Inquire: Research Paper/Management Case Study in the fields of:

1.  General Management & Strategy

2.  Finance & Accounting

3.  Operations & Manufacturing

4.  Human Resource and Social Sciences

5.  Marketing Management 

6.  Information Management 

7. 

Economics

B) Opinionate: Perspective on recent Management Issues:

Any current affairs with relevant management insights may be selected and the participants should

provide their opinions on the same in form of a brief article.

C) Reflect: Book Reviews/Literature Reviews:

The participant can write a review on any current book on Management. Perspectives on both

academic and non-academic books/literatures are welcome.

2.0 General Guidelines:

1) Guidelines for submission of Research paper:

a)  Submissions will be primarily accepted from students and may also be mentored by a

faculty coordinator.

b)  Recommended length of paper write up to: 7500 words (excluding citation & reference but 

including abstract and author/s profile).

 c)  The author/s should send in their entries as a .doc/docx file to the Samvid Editorial

Team: [email protected]. The manuscript should be accompanied by the following:

  An abstract of 80‐100 words (along with four/five keywords);

  A brief profile (50/70 words) of the author/s describing current designation and

affiliations, specialization, number of books and articles published in referenced

journals, and membership in editorial boards/companies, etc. (if any)

  Main Research Paper.

d)  Authors are recommended to adopt the MLA style for writing the paper.

e)  All tables, charts and graphs should of high resolution and in black & white. Wherever

necessary, the source should be indicated at the bottom of the figure.

f)  Referencing & citations should be complete in all respect. References should be in sequence

with the order as and how they appear in the body of the paper. The standard format as

stipulated below should be used:

Online resources of referencing should contain the valid URL and the date of accession:

2) Guidelines for submission of Management Case Study:

a)  Submissions will be primarily accepted from students and may also be mentored by a

faculty coordinator.

b)  Word Limit for Case Study: up to 10,000 words.

c)  The author/s should send in their entries as a .doc/docx file to the Samvid Editorial

Team: [email protected]. The manuscript should be accompanied by the following:

d)  The Case Study should be based on a primary research initiative of an organization or a

business scenario.

e)  The Case Study should not have been published elsewhere, submitted for publication or

used in other competitions.

f)  In case of proprietary information about an organization, proper legal approvals for

submission & public distribution shall have to be ensured from the author’s end. 

g)  Any referencing/citation (if given) should follow standard norms as specified in the

‘Guidelines for submission of Research Paper’ section. 

3) Guidelines for Submission of Book Review/Literature Review:

a)  Word Limit for Book Review/Literature Review: 1500-3000 words depending upon the

relevance and quality of review.

b)  The review should begin with the following particulars:

  Name of the Book:

  Writer:

  House of Publication:

  Year of Publication:

  Edition:

  Number of Pages:

  Price (if listed):

  ISBN Number (if available):

c)  The author/s should send a soft copy of the manuscript in .doc/docx file to the Samvid

Editorial Team: [email protected]

d)  Reviews can be written individually or with one co-author. A very brief profile of author/s

specifying name, institution & designation should accompany the review.

e)  Reviews should include a bird’s eye perspective of the entire book with explanations, views,

analysis and inferences of the same in relevant management scenarios. It should be a proper

analysis of the conceptual structure of the book to bring out the strength, weakness &

relevance of the same to the readers.

f)  Please refrain from using referencing/citation for this section.

4) Guidelines for submission of articles in Opinionate:

a)  Word Limit: 1500-3000 words depending upon the relevance and quality of article.

b)  The author/s should send in their entries as a .doc/docx file to the Samvid Editorial

 c)  Reviews can be written individually or with one co-author. A very brief profile of author/s

specifying name, institution & designation should accompany the review.

d)  Articles should be of recent developments in the field of Management Science or on some

current affairs which has/will have a deep influence in the coming days on the Business World.

The article should follow a basic structure of stating the issue, analyzing the issue and finally

interpreting it in terms of its implications.e)  Graphs and chart usage should be minimum and succinct.

f)  Please refrain from using referencing/citation for this section.

3.0 Selection Parameters of entries:

All entries for Samvid 2.0 will go through a blind review process by a highly esteemed Review Panel

who will be evaluating the entries on the basis of the following broad parameters:

  Relevance

  Novelty of Concept 

  Applicability

  Depth of Analysis & Interpretation

  Writing Style & Structure

4.0 Naming Convention for Submissions:

5.0 Deadlines for Submission of entries:

The deadline for submission of all the entries is strictly by EOD 10th December 2012. 

6.0 Prizes: Token of appreciation for selection of entries:

Selected entries will receive the following amounts as a token of appreciation from Samvid:

Best Research Paper: 

1st  : INR 10,000

2nd : INR 5,000

Best Management Case Study:

1st  : INR 10,000

2nd : INR 5,000

  Besides this, every published article in Samvid 2.0 will receive ‘Samvid Certificate

of  Appreciation’. 

7.0 Copyright:

Copyrighted materials, when used should be accurate in reproduction and with prior permissionfrom the copyright holders (wherever required). Paper/Case/Article/Review published in Samvid

should not be reproduced or reprinted in any form; either in full or part, without prior permission

of the Editor.

8.0 Proofs:

After selection of Paper/Case/Article/Review, all subsequent communications for proofs and

changes shall be sent to the first author, unless stated otherwise.
