Problems

- Firewalls- Resource may not have any visible endpoints

- Location Transparency- Resource moves from one location to another- Manager needs to track that

- Administrative- Manager’s owner/admin needs to make sure Resources are

discovered and visible- Do that for every resource which comes alive- Access to the Manager may be required

- Scalability- Manager may need to periodically “look” at all of the Resources it

needs to know about

Solutions

- Firewalls

- Manager’s URL/EPR known

- Manager’s endpoint is visible

- Location Transparency

- Irrespective of where the Resource is, it communicates to the same Manager

- Administrative

- The Resource deployer/owner or administrator is setting up the relationship with the Manager

- Scalability

- Resources are responsible of letting the Manager know of their situation

How

- Manager’s Interface: Operations invoked by the Resource:

- Here I am.

- What is my Configuration?

- What do I have to Comply With?

- What do I need To Do?

- Document Markups:

- WS-Configuration

- WS-ManagementPolicy

- WS-ManagementActivity

Discussion

- Is anybody interested?

- Should this be part of WSDM?

- Should these be separate specifications?
