Dear brothers and sisters,
What is prayer? It seems something so easy and simple; we just have to say some words and that is all. Well, Jesus today comes to us with one of the parables that teaches us how to pray. There are several parts to prayer and the one of this Sunday is insistence and perseverance. There are moments in our lives that we need to ask the Lord with insistence and perseverance in order to have what we need. In front of certain decisions in our life, we have no other options but to be at the feet of Jesus insistently asking for his help to discern what are we supposed to do or be. For example, my first months in the parish, now also but not as often, I found myself many times during the night praying with insistence to God to help me guide the parish. It was my first time taking care of a parish and being a pastor. I many times told the Lord that I have no clue how to do this job but that He who called me had to give me the Holy Spirit to know what to do to bring the parish closer to you. And God has been faithful. This aspect of prayer we sometimes forget because we want God to do it fast and in our schedule. So, we are invited to pray but ask for the important thing – the Holy Spirit.
As I said last week, Maria Camacho left us Thursday to take care of her family. Maria Elisa our need secretary will start Monday morning. I remind you that we are doing the special collection for our Building Fund to keep maintaining our buildings and do the work that is still necessary. The Pastoral Council has also requested that we help an orphanage in Haiti with a food drive – let us help as much as we can. And next week because of the pilgrim-age to Washington DC and after consultation with the Pastoral Council and anonymous approval, we are cancelling Saturday masses for October 26 only. Let us continue to be with Lord.
Saint Francis de Sales Pray for Us!
Queridos hermanos y hermanas:
