Now we are in Advent, the beginning of the church year, the PCC of St. Mary's Church say a special thank you to all the people who help to keep our church running through-out the year. Cleaning, flower arranging, playing the organ
each week, leading services in the absence of a priest, bell ringers, choir, locking and unlocking our church each day, keeping our church linen fresh and clean, our churchwardens and many others who just do things to help
behind the scenes. Thank you to Rev'd. David Burrell and Rev'd Ron Orams
who are with us as often as they can be and to all those who support the
church by attending services and helping with fundraising events. We wish you all a Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
Christmas Shoeboxes.
Many thanks to all the people who donated items for the
shoeboxes which we packed with the help of a very enthusiastic Year Six at the school. Thank you too, to St. Mary's Guild and to everyone who generously gave money so the boxes could be sent. Special thanks to Ann Artiss from Monk Soham
Church who had knitted fourteen beautiful hats and mittens
and to Beatrice from Bedfield for her box and donation. Many thanks to Janie Wood for organising this year’s collection.
Remembrance Day Services. It was heartening to have so many people paying their respects
to our young men and women lost in two world wars and more
recent conflicts. Tannington Church was full, as was Worlingworth School; fifteen people for P.C. Whiting and twenty six at our War
Memorial in Worlingworth. Thank you to Jude Ruscoe who played the Last Post and Reveille at our churchyard service.
The remembrance service held at Tannington on 13th November
was attended by 60 people and was conducted by Rev Ron Orams
who gave a very pertinent address . Many thanks to Charlie Abbott at the
organ, Malcolm Westrup and his bell ringers , the Benefice Choir Richard
Bell on the bugle. The collection of £325.17 has been sent to the Royal British
Legion.
Thanks to Nora Ingate for arranging the distribution of the poppy boxes
Thanks to all the house to house collectors :
Val, Peggy, Sue, Norman, Anna, Diana ,Nora, Gillian, Kathy, Juli-ette, John, Meg, Joyce. Thanks also to Bedfield Crown and Bedfield School.
The overall collection was £990.
CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR. In St. Mary's Church on the 15th of December at 6.00pm Worlingworth School are performing their Christmas Concert. These are always extremely enjoyable so do come and support the children. Light refreshments after the performance.

Bedfield News November 27th
We celebrated our organist Dougie Chittock’s sixty years play-ing the organ for our church. David Tye wrote an amusing and touching letter about his friendship over those sixty years with Sylvia, David’s first wife, and Jean, his present wife. The Rev Neil Dear also sent a letter congratulating Dougie for his long service to the church.
David Tye’s daughters, Julia and Helen, and their husbands came and
represented David and Jean at the service. A presentation was made to Dougie
and flowers presented to Dougie’s wife, Betty. Sherry, mince-pies and cheese scones helped to mark his special day.

Bedfield & Monk Soham Garden Club
November 18th was our last meeting of the year. We celebrated with a delicious meal at Christine’s lovely barn at Bedingfield.
We now have a break and re-start in February 2017
Our next year’s programme will be printed for members after Christmas. We are aiming to have a wide variety of club evenings which we hope will be interesting and entertaining for members.
Seed Sowing on the Sports Field
The Garden Club is managing the rough area at the back of the sports field. We have had advice and visits from Suffolk Wildlife Trust in 2016. The whole area had hay taken off it this year and about a third of the area after that has been kept short with the in-tention of sowing wild flower seed suitable for the site. Seven members on Friday 18th November set to with buckets and seed mixed into sand and compost. We spread out in a line and hand broadcast the seed as they would have done before machinery. The seed has been purchased from a company called Emorsgate Seeds at Kings Lynn. The mix is EM4F. If you are interested google the company and look at the species we have sown. We hope it will help with flowers and herbs for bees, butterflies and many other insects.
Aged 40 to 74? Find out about your FREE NHS Health Check Even though you might be feeling great, if you’re over forty you might be at risk of heart disease,
stroke, kidney disease, diabetes or dementia. A FREE NHS Health Check can help you reduce
these risks and make sure that you stay healthy. Having the health check will better prepare you
for the future and will enable you to take steps to maintain and improve your health. What will
happen at the check?
The check will take between 20-30 minutes and will involve the health professional asking you a
few simple questions regarding your family history and lifestyle. They will also check your height,
weight and other details, as well as test your blood pressure and complete a simple blood test to
check your cholesterol level. After the check they will talk you through your results and explain to
you what they mean, giving you personalised advice on how to lower your risk and maintain a
healthy lifestyle. You may also be prescribed further treatment or medication to help maintain
your health.
Arrange your NHS Health Check
If you are aged 40-74 and have not had a stroke or been diagnosed with heart disease, high choles-
terol, high blood pressure, kidney disease or diabetes then you are eligible for a free NHS health

Worlingworth Parish Council The next meeting of the Parish Council is on
Wednesday 18th January 2017 at 7.30pm in the Community Centre
Minutes of previous parish council meetings can be viewed on the village website at www.worlingworth.onesuffolk.net
Broadband Provision The Parish Council has recently published a letter on the village website outlining the current position regarding bringing better broadband to the outskirts of the village. For further details please click on the link on the homepage of the web-site, or go to the Parish Council News pages. Adopt A Path Thank you once again to everyone who took part in the Worlingworth Walking Day, lots of issues on the footpath network have been identified and passed to Suffolk County Council for action. However, we are aware that problems can arise at any time during the year and therefore we are looking for willing volunteers to ‘Adopt A Path’. This isn’t as formal as it sounds, all we are asking is that if there is a path that you regularly walk, we’d like you to consider adopting it and report any issues on the path as soon as possible. There’s no cost involved and don’t worry you won’t be expected to get out there with the shears and chop back overgrown areas! Just let us know, so that we can report it to the County Council. If you are interested in becoming part of the ‘Adopt A Path’ scheme please let the Parish Clerk know or get in contact direct with Juliet Pierce, our Footpath Officer on the Council who is co-ordinating this scheme. Crime & Anti-Social Behaviour Just recently the Parish Council has been contacted on a number of occasions about issues that are outside our remit, such as illegal parking or dangerous dogs. Please note that reporting ‘low-level’ crime matters to Parish Councillors or the Parish Council will not enable the Police to investigate such matters. Residents need to report crimes and anti-social behaviour in and around the village directly to the Police, using either 999 or 101 as appropriate.
Christmas trees will be collected from Worlingworth

Hi Everyone,
Did you know that whenever you buy anything online - from your weekly shop to
your annual holiday - you could be collecting free donations for St Nicholas Church
Bedfield?
There are over 3,000 shops and sites on board ready to make a donation, including
Amazon, John Lewis, Aviva, Asda, Waitrose, Tesco and Sainsbury's – you can even
book your holiday through it and it doesn't cost you a penny extra!
It's as easy as 1, 2, 3...
1. Head to https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/stnicholasbedfield/ and join for
free
2. Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first to find the site you want and
start shopping. Just add it to your favourites bar.
3. After you’ve checked out, that retailer will make a donation to your good cause for
no extra cost whatsoever!
There are no catches or hidden charges and St Nicholas Church Bedfield will be really
grateful for your donations.
Any queries to Jenny Hinchey -telephone 627134.
WORLINGWORTH GARDEN CLUB
December brings our Christmas lunch with us looking
forward to great food and good company. Members watch
your e-mails for details!
At the end of October a small bunch of us visited The
Place for Plants at East Bergholt for a private view of the woodland. Matt Tanton
Brown walked us round the extensive area of trees of many different varieties
planted by his grandfather and the latest ones by himself. His knowledge was ex-
tensive and fascinating. He happily answered our varied questions with interest and
enthusiasm. After going up hill and down dale he eventually manoeuvered us to a
position where the sunlight caught the autumn leaves to perfection.
He will come to Worlingworth Community Centre on Friday November 30th to
give a talk on Plants for Difficult Places. We are hoping this will be of interest to
everyone, not just our club members.
Any one interested in the talk or joining the club can get details on 01728 628 296
or email [email protected]

BEDFIELD AND MONK SOHAM SPORTS CLUB
AGM Held 21st November 2016
Bedfield and Monk Soham Sports Club held its annual General Meeting (AGM) at the
Bedfield sports pavilion on Monday the 21st November 2016. Although it was disap-
pointing not to have any new attendees, the management committee were encour-
aged by a very positive discussion on a number of agenda items. The support, atten-
dance and positive attitude of the representatives of the Tennis and Gardening Clubs
was also very much appreciated.
Graham Mobbs was re-elected as Club Chairman, with Keith Frost as Vice Chairman,
Jacque Grice as Treasurer and Geoff Robinson as acting Secretary. Full minutes of the
meeting will be posted to the notice board very shortly and placed onto the Bedfield &
Monk Soham website. Nigel Billingham will again be the fete co-ordinator.
One area of concern that was expressed and discussed was the lack of volunteers at
the annual village fete this year. Although another outstanding success and enjoyed
by everyone, great difficulty was experienced in setting up the area in the morning,
manning the stalls and returning the field to normal after the event. Many people are
involved in the fete each year with unsung heroes assisting in the planning, collec-
tions and many other aspects, as well as helping on the day. Without the fete the
Sports Club would cease to exist in financial terms, with the resultant loss to
the village of the Tennis & Gardening Clubs, the pavilion and even the use of
our beautiful field for recreational purposes. Planning for the 2017 fete will start
early in the new year with the first meeting to be held towards the end of January in
the Bedfield Crown. As well as being vital to the success of the fete, it will also be a
good social occasion for people to meet. The date of the fete has been provisionally set
as Saturday 8th July 2017. Further details will be published in the January parish maga-
zine but please consider helping with the next fete either by attending the
meeting or assisting on the day. Further details can be obtained from Jacque
Grice on 01728 685425.
A very big thank you to Tom Huband and Helen O'Sullivan for raising £300 for St Nicholas Church, Bedfield. They would also welcome next year people from the village willing to sponsor them by giving their names to myself as a collection point as neither of them live in the village but have close connections to it.
