At the beginning of November, we had 21 members of our High School Youth Group attend the Fall retreat at Camp Chandler. We celebrated Mass every day of the retreat, we had good food, good worship, good prayer, and good fun together. We discussed how to ignite the fire of Faith to burn brightly in our lives and how to live by the fire, by the light of that faith. One of the special moments for me was Friday Night of the Retreat when we prayed the litany of the Faithful Departed members of our families. After the litany, we all processed to the site of the bonfire while praying the rosary.

1. Parents must be married in the Catholic Church. 2. If a couple is civilly married or unmarried, they must
make an appointment to meet with the Pastor before they can have their children baptized.
3. Children age 6 and under will receive the sacrament of Baptism. From 7 and above, they will receive all three sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Communion, and Confirmation).
4. Parents must bring a copy of their marriage certificate from the Church where they were married.
5. Godparents must be practicing Catholics. You may have a proxy for a godparent/s who may be unable to come.
6. To have your child baptized, contact Andrea at 272-3463 to schedule a Baptism Preparation Class.
7. Baptism in English is every 3rd Sunday of each month after the 10am Mass.

I believe these retreats to be a very important part of our youth group and believe them to have a strong impact on our members. At the end of the retreat, several of the parents brought flowers and cards to their kids as they were picking them up. It was their way of showing their support and the importance of the retreat. When I returned to the FLC to unload my car, I was met by two of our girls holding a rose. They came to bring me the rose because I have never received flowers after a retreat. They said to me, “Father Nicholas, we love you and wanted to bring you this rose to say thank you for the great weekend."

Yo creo que estos retiros son una parte bien importantes para el grupo de los jóvenes y creo que el retiro tiene un impacto bien grande en nuestros jóvenes. Al final del retiro, algunos padres trajeron flores y tarjetas para sus niños que estaban recogiendo. Era su forma de mostrarles apoyo y la importancia del retiro. Cuando yo regrese al FLC para descargar mi auto, me encontré con dos de las jóvenes sosteniendo una rosa. Ellas vinieron a traerme la rosa porque yo no había recibo una después del retiro. Ellas me dijeron: “Padre Nicholas, te queremos y quisimos traerte esta rosa para decir gracias por un gran retiro.”
