-Display:Display areas are the heart of the retail store. Display is the mechanism that presents the merchandise to the shoppers in its best favorable light and that allow the shoppers evaluate and select product for purchase are consisted.

Cashier:The cashier is known as the end point of the store and it’s where the customer purchases their items. The cashier can be located in several places. In famous stores, there might be more than 1 cashier desk, each in a different department. In smaller stores, cashiers can be found either at the end of the store with a wall behind so that it can be clear draw the front of the shop or it can be in near the entrance to make the end of the shopping experience.

Exterior Doors:

- Easily accessible to all- Must be at least 1000 mm in width - Must open inward so not to obstruct the street or path- Give good security to the store at night - The position of the entrance is the key to success of any store. If placed in the center

this allows it to give good symmetry to shop as well as it will be visually comfortable for customers. If placed at one side, usually it’s for reason that a big display window is needed

Lighting:

Goals of retail lighting:-attract and guide customers.-help them evaluate the products.-assist them in quickly and easily completing the sale.-Good lighting will help minimize returns since customers can fully evaluate merchandise in the store, less likely to be disappointed with their purchases later.-it must enable customers to read signage, price tags and labels.

- The 4 primarily lighting in any retail:

a. Ambient light c. Accent lightingb. Task lighting d. Decorative lighting

a. Ambient lighting is the main light source for a store, it should ensure that the store is not gloomy and that customers feel comfortable and have enough general light to make their way around

b. Task light focused more, it used to better illuminate areas in your store where more light is needed to perform certain tasks (store entrance, checkout area, dressing room, customer service disks)

c. Accent light used to highlight specific areas, displays and décor in your store, in

order to make products pop and add a sense of importance, it added drama to a

room, this type can be used near the front of the store to highlight new products, any area to add emphasis to a piece of art of décor in shelving or display.

d. Decoration light added beauty to a store it can include things such as chandeliers, intricate wall fixtures and custom designed fixtures

How lighting temperature change the way we look at items?

In any optical shop is very important to let the customer look at the product and we have many types of mirrors such as:

-store

Store is one of the most important thing in any retail spicily in the optical shop it should be occasion to save the glasses from any damage or Scratches because glasses are light and sensitive, they can use a specified bags, boxes or closed drawer that are lined and divided in to small sections to divide between glasses.

-lighting:

Lighting show the true colors and details of frame and make each frame look more desirable and special.

- LED color perfect lighting is Eco-Friendly and designed to properly illuminate eyewear- Optical lights include pendant, track, recessed lighting - Merchandise must appear desirable - The space must be inviting, but not overbearing

-Example:

Douloufakis Optical Store by Lefteris Tsikandilakis, Heraklion – GreeceA major challenge for the design was the fact that the store is developed following the pharmacy of Douloufakis Nicholas, as part of the existing building, but there is no communication between the two sites. The aim of the design was to create a corporate identity style feature counterpart pharmacy.

HOLLY Eyewear Store by 1POINT0, Toronto – Canada

This sleek and stylish boutique was created to feel like a modern and urban museum-like setting. The collections are showcased through custom fixtures such as the wall-to-ceiling waterfall displays, crystal-like accessory cases, mirrored white and gold floor-to-ceiling eyewear fixtures, and integrated media and mirror displays – which all combine to encourage and enable customer engagement with the eyewear collections. Enhancing the overall experience are

complimenting finishes in contrasting brushed gold accents, white powder-coated metals, opulent black textured wall, star fire glass, mirrored gold and herringbone blush-colored flooring.

The shop design also includes an Optician adjustment desk, where the Optician meets with customers to the eyewear purchased.

Kirk originals eyewear - London Flagship

The black and white color palette made a dramatically feeling with only one eyewear wall with 187 heads for frames, and practically no furnishing ensure that customers will focus on eyewear, not the trappings. Eye examinations and fitting take place in the basement, away from the main display space. Large graphics of winking eyes in the window speak the same, clear language leaving no doubt about what they sell.

2- Fashion Retail:

- Fashion boutiques aimed at the female market should choose from softer feminine colors such as pastels, pinks, and coral, soft blue or green, turquoise or light purple. In choosing the best colors for this type of retail business you must first take into account the target market. For the female market choose pastels and pinks, coral, turquoise or light purple. For the male market blue is always a good choice as the majority of men love all types of blue.

- Men's clothing stores need to choose colors that will attract their male customers, but they also need to take into account that often it is women who do the buying for their partners, sons or fathers. Blue is a color that is attractive to the majority of people, including both genders and all age groups, so it is a good choice for these stores. Adding some red or blue to the color scheme will add energy to the blue

- Fitting rooms are very different from each other. In big famous stores, fitting rooms are usually very large in space and are fitted with large mirrors. However, in small shops fitting rooms are designed as very small with curtains rather than doors.

Example:

3- jewellery:

- Proper use of LEDs in Display Cases can improve the look of merchandise and increase sales - Point sources increases “sparkle effect” - Must be careful to avoid glary display cases so shoppers are not distracted

Example:

Lille Perle Jewellery by Heterarchy, Royal Leamington Spa – UK

Lille Perle has opened its new store in Royal Leamington Spa, bringing together six iconic jewellery brands under one roof.

Flooring is a dark wood finish, laid diagonally across the space. In contrast to the dark floor, the island units are in bright white lacquer, with frameless glass tops placing the focus onto the product within. The wall mounted displays and window displays also utilize frameless glass, to be as discreet as possible. Lighting to the wall and window units is from brushed brass hanging pendant lights – not something you would expect to see but works incredibly well to both illuminate the product and provide a distinct pop of warmth. This warm metallic is picked up within the wallpaper on the back wall, a semi-urban flock with a metallic highlight.

Breaking down the barriers of the traditional jewellery store format, the products are presented to allow customers to browse in an informal manner. Careful consideration of lighting has been central to making the space work. Since opening its doors in October 2015 the store has been well received by customers. Early indications show that Lille Perle will successfully fill a gap in the local market for premium design led jewellery.
