Basketball Victoria Country congratulates all for their participation in the various Championships across the 2014/2015 “Country Season” in Regional Victoria.
The many volunteers involved at the local association level are to be applauded on the work that is performed on a weekly basis and it is evident with the growth in participation numbers, the continued development of the players and officials and the level of competition that this work is being rewarded.
The 2015 Country Championship hosts, Bendigo, Shepparton and Traralgon should be congratulated on the product delivered in each area as they now move into the second year of their hosting duties. Bendigo were also hosts of the successful 2014 Club Championships, an event that “tips off” the Country Season.
The Country Basketball League continues to attract quality teams and is at the forefront of promoting Senior Representative Basketball in Regional Victoria. CBL Associations should also be proud of the product that was delivered during the season at multiple venues across Regional Victoria
Basketball continues to have a positive economic impact around Regional Victoria and each Club and Country Championship event brings excellent income to Regional Centre’s of around $2 million per event. This is important information that BVC will use to further promote the sport at the Local, State and Federal Government level.
BVC will continue to promote innovation and continued with the development of Stadium Scoring across all events, which has now become the benchmark. Online registration of participants and Team Staff as well as online registration for officials is now common practice for BVC events.
The Basketball Victoria Country Championships form a vital pathway from participation through to elite competition for Regional Victoria’s promising athletes. It also illustrates the strength of Country Associations with a diverse range of Associations entering teams.
281 teams competed in the Country Championships, 97 in the Club Championships and 42 in the CBL totaling 420 teams and everyone who participated is playing a part in growing basketball to reach its potential.
Please enjoy the fourth edition of the “BVC Results Book” compiled by BVC’s Sammy Cartwright as another Country Season is placed into the proud ‘Vic Country’ history.
