Reasons for Forecast Revisions and Responses
1. Weak workplace sales (DS Division)
2. Temporary suspension of shipments due to revision in specs of OEM product for a major
home appliance manufacturer
Plan to resume shipments in February
4. TrimGen Corporation posted an extraordinary loss for receivables of a major customer
Discussions with the customer are continuing
(a) One cause was the different approach used by the sales force (changed too much due to
strengthened compliance)
Aim for a recovery in sales by revising to appropriate limitations
(b) Delay in full-scale use of new sales agents
Started extensive activities involving new sales agents in the Kansai and all other
regions of Japan
3. Drop in sales of water purification cartridges after the rush to buy prior to the April 2014
consumption tax hike
Sales have returned to normal in the second half of the current fiscal year
In addition to the weak workplace sales, the strong OEM and wholesale sales resulted shift
in the composition of sales channels brought down the gross profit margin
5
Initiatives for Sales Growth
1. Sales of electrolyzed hydrogen water (EHW) systems
(a) Collect data on benefits of drinking EHW – Conduct human tests to determine benefits
for people who have diabetes
(b) Increase public relations and marketing activities – Create new TV commercials
(c) Strengthen sales activities
(d) Start sales activities with new sales agents
2. Genetic diagnosis
(a) Develop a new product for next-generation sequencer
(b) Establish alliances with major global suppliers of genetic testing equipment
4. Electrolyzed water hemodialysis
(a) Goal is to have this dialysis offered by one medical facility in each prefecture of Japan
(b) Develop high-performance products
3. Cord blood storage
(a) Increase number of new samples stored by reinforcing sales activities
(b) Increase cell extraction efficiency by using the revised operating hours of the cell
processing center
5. Agriculture
(a) Start selling EHW systems for growing Reduced Vegetables®
(b) Strengthen the Reduced Vegetables® brand and sell EHW systems to users
6
The Business Goals of the Nihon Trim Group
Transform from a household appliance supplier into a medical company
Positioning the Nihon Trim Group as a supplier of medical devices will also help
increase sales of household EHW systems.

The Potential of EHW Systems

I. Helps people live in good health longer
Extending life expectancy without a longer healthy life simply means that people have a
longer period of poor health in their final years.
Incorporating EHW into life, which has health benefits, can help people stay healthy.

Shifting from treating diseases to preventing diseases
Stay healthy by living with an EHW system
Average monthly healthcare expenditures for Nihon Trim employees and Japan
Healthcare expenditures for
Nihon Trim employees are far
below the national average!
Is EHW the reason?
*The average age is 44.0 for Japan and
38.3 for Nihon Trim employees, so the
lower healthcare expenditures are
probably due in part to this lower age.
But this age difference alone is
estimated to lower healthcare
expenditures by about 26%, much less
than the actual difference.

effectiveness.
In a special medical checkup system, a comparison study of persons
drinking EHW and those not drinking EHW was made using participants
in the health care program for reducing high blood sugar level as
metabolic syndrome patients. (Joint research with Toyota Kanrenbuhin
Health Insurance Association)
1. About 5% of Japan’s approximately 50 million households use EHW systems
(water purifier ownership rate is about 40%)
2. Goal is to increase EHW system use to 20% by raising awareness of its benefits and performing research
to identify new uses for EHW
50 million households x 20%
= 10 million households
(a) Improves health (b) Low costnote1 (c) Ecology
3. Nihon Trim anticipates a market share of 30%
10 million households x 30% = 3 million households
(a) Total market for purifiers is ¥1 trillion = ¥300 billion (30% share)
(b) Purification cartridge sales of ¥20 billion/year

[Sales, Promotions and Research]
1. Plan to install electrolyzed water hemodialysis systems at four new locations in the second half of the fiscal year
A sales agent agreement has been signed with Nikkiso Co., Ltd. to co-promote sales promotion
2. At the 59th conference of the Japanese Society for Dialysis Therapy that was held in June 2014, we made
presentations on three subjects involving electrolyzed water hemodialysis.
3. Continuing to perform joint research with universities in Japan and other countries to gather more data
About 300,000 people in Japan require hemodialysis, which uses about 120 liters of water each time
A next-generation dialysis method that targets the high volume of water used for dialysis (patented)
Using a dialysis fluid that includes hydrogen improves patients’ quality of life by reducing oxidation
stress, inflammations and side effects
Current 14 hospitals/188 beds We aim to have one medical facility in each of Japan’s prefectures to offer electrolyzed water hemodialysis!

and cellular therapy and for treating future diseases
StemCell Institute Inc. is Japan’s largest private cord blood bank
(32,538 individuals as of September 30, 2014)
Clinical tests, which are performed mainly outside Japan, point to rising public awareness and
importance of cord blood storage

Summary
This report was titled “Effects of Deoxidized Nutrient Solution on Growth of
Komatsuna Plants.” Researchers studied the mechanism for the benefits of
EHW in hydroponic nutrient solutions. This research demonstrated that
komatsuna plants grow faster when Nihon Trim’s EHW system for Reduced
Vegetables® are used.
I. Joint research report with Kochi University
II. First evidence that ordinary alkaline ion water purifiers can remove radioactive substances
Summary
This research for the first time demonstrated that household alkaline ion water
purifiers can efficiently remove radioactive cesium and iodine ions from tap
water. This applies to purifiers that have a micro-carbon cartridge and
electrolysis unit for removing hazardous substances.
There are also hopes for using alkaline ion water to protect people from
internal radiation exposure resulting from the ingestion of radioactive
substances. Protection is the result of the ability of hydrogen and mineral
nanoparticles in alkaline ion water produced by an electrolysis unit to remove
reactive oxygen species.
* The research program at Kyushu University used Nihon Trim products.
