CZ-USA generously sponsored the match as the title sponsor for the third consecutive year. Southern Utah Practical Shooters in Hurricane, Utah, hosted 531 competitors, who competed in 17 fun and challenging courses of fire. Limited division, sponsored by STI International, had 254 competitors. Production Division, sponsored by Glock, had 230. Limited 10 Division, sponsored by Doubletap Ammunition, had 41. Only 6 competitors were moved to the unrecognized Open Division, sponsored by bad luck and misfortune, for equipment rules violations. Side matches provided by CZ-USA and Walther Arms also saw serious competition, with over 90% of match competitors battling for firearms awards. STI International showcased their firearms in the demo area, where attendees ran their pistols through the paces on a variety of steel targets provided by American Precision Targets. Federal Premium Ammunition provided nearly 50,000 rounds of the new Syntech Action Pistol Ammunition for the side matches, demo bays, and chronograph trials, with every competitor, official, and spectator having the opportunity to try the division power factor specific ammunition in multiple firearms. Chronograph data for two different Syntech Action Pistol offerings, in 9mm and .40S&W, was collected for a number of the most popular firearms in use at USPSA matches, and will be included in a comprehensive report in the future. Team Glock’s Shane Coley emerged the Limited Division Champion, finishing just 8 points ahead of 2nd place Nils Jonasson, and 39 points ahead of Robert Vogel in 3rd place. Jessie Harrison Duff was victorious as the Ladies’ Limited Division National Champion by 45 points. 2017 IPSC Production Division World Champion Benjamin Stoeger reclaimed his title as the Production Division National Champion finishing 20 points ahead of 2016 Champion Alex Gutt, and 101 points ahead of Mason Lane who claimed 3rd Place. Team Glock’s Ashley Rheuark dominated the race for the Ladies’ Production Division National Championship. 2017 IPSC Classic Division World Champion Elias Frangoulis took the Limited 10 Division National Championship, finishing 87 points ahead of legend Rob Leatham in 2nd Place, and 88 points ahead of Michael Seeklander who took 3rd Place. CZ-USA’s Sara Taylor took top honors as the Ladies’ Limited 10 Division National Champion. USPSA would like to congratulate all of the competitors who placed within their class and category, and express a heartfelt thanks to all of the sponsors who supported our Iron Sight National Championship.
