Tono Saijiki (literary calendar)
Nabekura Park, the site of the remains of the Nanbu Clan castle, is filled with people in the spring when about 1,000 cherry trees are in bloom. At the Nanbu Clan Tono Entrance Parade, beautiful folk entertainments are per-formed to welcome the spring.
This summer fireworks display lights up the riverbed of the Hayasegawa River with about 5,000 beautiful fire-works. The numerous fireworks can be felt with your entire body as the sound echoes through the sky.
A traditional fall even that the entire city of Tono participates in. In addition to the traditional performances of Nanbu- bayashi, Shishi-Odori (Deer Dance), Kagura, rice planting dance, and more, “Nanbu Yabusame” (archery on horseback) are performed on the grounds of the Hachimangu shrine.
Winter events at the open hearths of traditional houses where guests can enjoy old-style doburoku sake, hittsumi, and pheasant soba. The atmosphere gets lively with kagura dance performances and traditional storytelling.

Shops, farmer’s marketsThis shop has traditional and folk crafts, souvenirs, and more in addition to a farmer’s market and Tono morning market, Katsuhiko Tada’s shop, and a rich assortment with great variety in a fun atmosphere.
The dishes here are made using ingredients from the local area. The Kuretsubo Soba, Gyoja Ninniku (Garlic) Ramen and the Hittsumi set meal are particularly popular. There’s also a salad bar where you can eat as many fresh seasonal vegetables as you like.

This is the shop of the Ayaori Yume wo Sakas-eru Women’s Group. Foods like soba, dango and onigiri with their distinctive local taste passed down the generations and made with affection by women in the Tono area are on sale here.

Viewing DeckThe flow of the Sarugaishi River which reflects the changing scenes of the four seasons, Tono’s mountains that look over the river and the winds that envelope you give people a sense of the eternal tales of the area.
Information Desk and the Samukaze Club
The staff here provide visitors with vari-ous sightseeing information along with road, event, green tourism and weather information. They also offer a ticket agency facility. The Samukaze Club create and provide tourist information and informa-tion about restaurants, cafés and bars in the area.
In this rest hall connected to the viewing deck, there’s a smoking corner, a TV and a tatami area where you can stretch out and relax.
