CLASSROOM RULES

RESPECT  •Respect the teacher•Respect your fellow classmates•Respect the room and its equipment

READINESS                •Be ready for the class. This means having the right •materials for class, along with being on  time.

RESULTS             •Producing quality work in order to be successful.

REWARDS & PUNISHMENTS

Rewards and punishments are for following orfailure to follow the classroom rules:

• Warning

• Teacher to student conference

• Parent conference

• Situational Separation

• Referral to the Office

• Classroom of computer free-time

CLASSROOM PROCEDURES

My classroom procedures are simple. They are as follows:

1. Enter the room in a civilized and respectful manner.2. Quietly take your seats.

3. Review and follow the instruction on the whiteboard for your class or wait for teacher instructions.

4. Complete whiteboard instructions. If you’re ahead of the class assignments SEE ME.

5. Cleanup is 10 minutes before the bell rings. This will depend on the class or the project.

General Shop Safety Rules Safety glasses must be worn at all times when in the

shop. Do not wear loose clothing, jewelry, or long hair that is

not restrained. Always turn on tool before feeding wood or other stock

into the blade. Never turn on a blade when it is touching your wood or stock.

Do not “rush” or try to work fast, slow down! Only operate equipment you have been trained on. Clamp or secure all wood or stock before working on it

with power tools. Always set up your cut before turning on equipment.

Always keep your work area clear and clean. Do not distract others using machines. Do not talk to

operator while machine is running. Carrying tools safely. Keep equipment clean. Never brush off benches or machines by hand. Use a

brush to prevent injuries. Do not use any damaged or broken equipment. Report

any problems with equipment to the teacher. Clean up after yourself. Return tools to tool room, brush

off equipment, and sweep area. Leave workspace completely clean and ready for the next person to use.

Keep shirt cuffs buttoned or rolled above elbows. Never roll the cuffs just one or two turns as this causes them to loosen and the may catch in machinery. Remove outer garments such as sweaters and coats before working in the shop.

When carrying a long piece of material, have one person carry each end. This will give better control of the piece, therefore avoiding an accident.

Never try to work with a tool or machine when standing in an unbalanced position.

Report any unsafe practices that are being performed in the shop.

No Jewelry, such as a wrist watch or rings can be dangerous. They can catch in machinery

Computer Safety Rules

Bring only what your teacher instructs you to bring. Do not touch lab equipment until instructed to do so. Treat all equipment with respect Never send a document to the printer without teacher

approval. Follow directions. If you have a question, ask me for help. Never explore programs on the computer. Never download any programs. Work only on assigned project. Access to the Internet must be teacher approved. No chart rooms, social networking, or shopping sites. No

Cyberbullying No food or drink in the computer lab at any time.

Rubrics Description Critical Thinking / Problem Solving - The higher-order

cognitive process that requires the modulation and control of more routine or fundamental skills.

Oral Communication - The imparting or interchange of thoughts, opinions, or information by speech or signs.

Visual Communication - The imparting or interchange of thoughts, opinion, or information by illustrated drawings.

Written Communication - The imparting or interchange of thoughts, opinions, or information by writing.

Teamwork / Collaboration - A cooperative or coordinated effort on the part of a group of persons acting together as a team or in the interests of a common cause.

Rubrics Description Diversity - The condition or result of being changeable. Information Technology Application - What and how a

student uses and implements the technology of the current times.

Leadership - The body of people who lead a group. Creativity / Innovation - A creation (a new device or

process) resulting from study and experimentation.  Lifelong Learning / Self Direction - A self driven student

who continuously is striving to learn new things. Professionalism / Work Ethic - The standing, practice, or

methods of a professional, as distinguished from an amateur and a belief in the moral benefit and importance of work and its inherent ability to strengthen character.

Ethics / Social Responsibility - A system of moral principles and the principle that students should contribute to the welfare of society and not be solely devoted to oneself.

GradingGrades are broken down into percentages.
