About Us: Burdwan Institute of Management and Computer Science is one of thereputed professional institute run by a voluntary organization “OrientalAssociation for Education and Research”. At present the society is runningfour institutes:-• Burdwan Institute of Management & Computer Science (BIMS)

• Burdwan Institute of Medical and Life Sciences (BIMLS)

The institute is located in the heart of the town, established in the year 2000with all modern amenities. It is run by a team of experts and dedicatedprofessionals committed towards the genuine development of students inall spheres. BIMS is a dynamic growth oriented pioneer Institution in WestBengal, presently conducting three years full time Honours courses in BBA,BCA, B.Sc. Biotechnology and B.Sc. Biochemistry affiliated to theUniversity of Burdwan.

Bachelor ofBusiness Administration

Objectives:BBA is the degree that is conferred upon a student after three years of full-time study in one of the areas of business concentrations, such as System,Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management. The BBA programincludes general business courses and advanced courses for specificspecializations.

Eligibility:+2 in any stream

Scopes:1. Higher studies options after BBA:-Like other graduation coursescandidates have the option to go in for Master degree. Some of theoptions are also available:• MBA – This is one of the most popular options. The candidates will beto join the corporate world in Managerial roles after the course.• Post Graduate Diploma – There are various specialization like Finance,Marketing, Human Resource Management, Information Technology etc.

2. Service options after BBA:Jobs in Government Sector after BBA. In the Government sectors thecandidates must check the notifications for job opportunities regularly. Someof the jobs preferred include the banking jobs. Also another optionavailable is that Civil Service stream. Also they have the option to appear forstate level exams like PSC or the railways test etc.

Other Sectors:n Join as a Sales Personnel in any Insurance sector.n Join as a Management Trainee in any Manufacturing industry.n Join as a Retail Executive in Retail sector.n Serve as a Trainee or Executive in any Service industry.n Join in any Media house as a trainee.n Join in any Aviation industry as Ground staff, Air-hostess.

3. Business options after BBA:n Start his/her own business as an entrepreneur.n Run a Small Scale Industry.n Start event management group of his/her own.n Start a business as a management consultant.

Bachelor ofComputer Application

Objectives:The objective of BCA course is to develop skills and enthusiasm in studentswho desire to explore new vistas in the field of Computer Education whichis the most burning area of Science that has a very promising future for thosewho choose to be a part of this program. It is a three years full-time degreecourse. This course provides a sound academic base from which an advancedcareer in computer application can be developed.

Eligibility:+2 in any stream with Statistics/Mathematics/Computer Application

Scopes:There is a huge spectrum of scope with respect to career development forthe individuals who have taken up their higher education in computerapplications.

Higher Study:After BCA the students can do some Master Degree courses such as MCA,MS or M.Sc in Information Technology or Computer Science which willprovide an in-depth knowledge to the students in their own field.

Government Sector:They can opt for computer faculty job in Kendriya Vidhyala Schools & WestBengal Schools through School Service Commission (SSC). Apart fromthese, many government information technology companies like BHEL,NSDL, MTNL and BSNL are hiring BCA graduates.

Private Sector:The BCA graduates can have a variety of jobs in private sectors. Severalreputed companies like Microsoft, Hindalco, Larson and Tubro, TCS,Wipro, Infosys, etc… are recruiting BCA graduates.

0bjectivesBiochemistry involves studying the chemistry of living things such assubstances, compounds and processes. The three years B.ScBiochemistry(Hons.) provides a background in chemistry and biologicalscience and permits flexibility in meeting student interest in the basicsciences of mathematics, chemistry and biology to meet the needs forgraduate study in most fields of modern science.

ScopesBiochemistry finds application in clinical and forensic science and in thefood and pharmacological industries. Biochemists are contributing toadvances in a wide variety of areas, including health, agriculture and theenvironment. The work environment could be the Government, Privatesector, Laboratories, Hospitals, Medical Instrument Companies, Colleges,Universities, and other Educational and Research Institutions as Scientists,Research Associates, etc.

BioChemistry (Hons)

0bjectivesBiotechnology is that branch of science with amalgamates biology andtechnology in order to derive productive results from biological organismsthrough technological applications. The three years B.ScBiotechnology(Hons.) programme is designed to provide students with agrounding in the various disciplines like Biochemistry, Genetics,Microbiology, Chemistry, Immunology and Bio-statistics, Cell Biology,Bioinformatics while highlighting the recent possibilities to meet the needsfor graduate study in most fields of modern science.

ScopesBiotechnology can be applied in developing various vaccines, medicines anddiagnostics, improving energy production and conservation and increasingproductivity. Today the essence of biotechnology is most prominent in thefield of Genetic Researches and Drug Designing. The biotechnologists get employed in various Government and PrivateColleges, Universities and Research Institutes, Environment Industry,Pharmaceutical Companies, Agricultural Industry, Animal Husbandry, andin the areas of production, planning and management of BioprocessingIndustries.
