Executive Summary: On March 4 2014, the City Council adopted the job description and sa lary rangefor the City Clerk position. While the Council Report included the correct salaryrange for the classification, the Resolution reflected a different range. Therecommended action will implement the correct salary range for the City Clerkclassification.

Analysis/Discussion : On March 4 2014, in accordance with CCMC 2.52.040 o) the City Councilapproved the Job Description and Salary Range for the City Clerk position. Whilethe Council Report reflected the correct salary for the classification, staffdiscovered the Resolution whi ch Council adopted contained an incorrect sa lary.The recommend ed action will rescind the previous re solution and adopt a newresolution with the correct sa lary for the City Clerk classification.

SEA RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 2014-23 AND ADOPTING ARESOLUTION REVISING THE SALARY RANGE FOR THE CITY CLERK

CLASSIFICATION

WHEREAS, the City Council approved the position of City Clerk with the adoption ofthe City s Fiscal Year (FY) 201 3 1 4 operating budget; andWHEREAS, on March 4, 2014, the City Council adopted the job description and salaryrange for the City Clerk classification; andWHEREAS, subsequently it was discovered that the incorrect salary range was adopted

on March 4, 2014; andWHEREAS, the Carmel-by-the-Sea Municipal Code requires that the City Council adopta Position Classification Plan and Salary Resolution (CMC 2.52.020 and CMC 2.52.520 (B); andWHEREAS, upon review and recommendation by the Ci ty Administrator in accordancewith the provisions outlined n CMC 2.52.510 the aforementioned plans may be amended by

Council action; andWHEREAS, the City Council in accordance with (CMC 2.52.040 (D)) approves jobs,positions and funding including job descriptions and salaries; andWHEREAS, the Position Classification and Salary Plan must be adopted in order toimplement adding the positions approved with the adoption ofthe City 's FY 2013-14 operatingbudget.
