ThepublicviewingareaisclosetotheForum,sothankyouforthelocation. Howeverthewayitis
proposedtobemanagedisstillproblematic. Fencingitin,andrequiringfurtherrestrictionsupon
enteringthecompoundsmacksthefaceofliberty. Idon'tunderstandhowacagecanbedesignedfor
guestsofourcityandbealsoconsideredsomethingthatbelongsinademocracy. Wouldyouwillingly
relinquishyourrightsandenterthiscageyourself?
IfirstcamebeforeCityCouncilasaresidentandbusinessownerofTampatoasktheCouncilMembers
todotherightthingandvotedowntheunconstitutionalordinancethatpropagatesanagendato
establishasurveillancestate. Ialso,asthefounderoftheFreeSpeechProject, proposedan
alternativeto
the
mayor
of
an
ordinance
that
only
serves
to
create
the
very
thing
that
the
council
was
trickedintobecomingscaredof,abattle. Thefederalgovernmenthasmadeourcouncilmembers,as
wellasourresidents,scaredoftheguestscomingtospeakoutforafaireconomy,anendtowar,anda
cleanenvironment. Arethesethingsscarytothepublic? Orisitscarytothestatusquooftheprofit
formultinationalcorporations?
IcometoyounotonlyasaresidentofTampaforthelastnineyears,butnowasanorganizerof40+
groupscomingtoparticipateinprotestingoneofthetwopartiesthatnolongerrepresentthepeople.
ThesegroupsnowwanttoprotesttheCityofTampaaswellforthewayitishandingitselfin
preparationsfortheRNC,andIstandwiththem.
Ibelievethereisstilltimetoturnaroundwhatwillsuretobeastainonourcityiflefttocontinueas
planned. Iproposethatourgroup,resistRNC,managethePublicViewingAreafortheCity. Ofcourse
wewouldhavetoreachanarrangementfortheconditionsofthesite,suchastheremovalofthe
ordinanceinthiszone,aswellastheremovalofthefencingaroundthesite.
TheguestscomingtojointheresidentsofTampaBayaremainstreamAmerica. Iknowyouvoted
downtheordinance. Willyoujoinwithusandfindasolutiontocreateastrongercommunity,orallow
therightsofthepeopletobetrampledupon?
