From the Principal & Assistant Principal… As Term 3 draws to a close, there’s still a great deal of excitement at
school. Today the Grade 6’s move out of their classrooms so that the
refurbishment can begin. Next Thursday the Grade 5’s will do the same.
A great deal of work will happen over the holidays and we will return to
beautifully presented classrooms! We can hardly wait as these rooms
have been in a very poor state for many years.
Our Grade 2 students sleep over tonight and they are extremely excited
about this! Tomorrow the Grade 1 & 2 students will spend the day in a
variety of activities. We know it’s going to be so much fun!
Next week our Grade 6 students head off to Melbourne for the week.
This trip is wonderful as students experience Melbourne’s main
attractions in 5 days! Have a great time Grade 6’s.
Next Friday our SRC have organised a Footy Colours Day. It would be
great if students could wear something to represent their favourite
football team. Students will be challenging the staff in a football match
which is bound to be entertaining. Please read the flyer Aimee created
included in this newsletter.
NAPLAN Student Reports
Individual student reports on the NAPLAN tests will be sent home today
for students in Grade 3 & 5. These reports give you information on how
your child went on the tests of Reading, Narrative Writing, Language
Conventions and Numeracy. These reports give you a snapshot of how
your child performed on the day and their level of achievement against
national averages. Please speak to your classroom teacher if you have any
further questions or would like to discuss their result.

Yr 3/4 ‘Swim & Survive’ Swimming Lessons This week grade threes and fours have been loving their Swim and Survive lessons at the Mildura Waves. Students have worked in ability groups to learn basic swimming skills with the AusSwim instructors. On Wednesday students enjoyed wearing their pyjamas or long sleeves and long pants in the water while learning water safety and survival skills. On Friday students will be rewarded for their hard work and good behaviour with free time in the waves. Thank you to all teaching and ESS staff who have assisted and supported us this week.
YEAR TWO SLEEPOVER AND YEAR ONE/TWO
ACTIVITY DAY
Tonight night the Year Two

sleepover. On Friday, they will be joined by the Year One students for an action packed
Activity Day. Everyone is very excited!
Prep Pirate Day
What a wonderful day the Preps had last week for their activity day. The teachers and Preps walked the
plank as pirates, and didn’t we look a treat! After a parade and dance in the gym where Ms O’Connor and Janine decided on the best dressed boy and girl from each class we came back to complete some Pirate
crafts. Park for Play was our destination after Recess, and what fun we had playing together. Back at school we had an awesome treasure hunt and finished the day with a yummy tea of pasta and ice cream
for dessert.
Resilience This week all grades are focusing on Stress Management. This is an easy exercise to use if your child is feeling anxious or unsure. Great for adults also. Stress Management
Tips to help with grounding -Look around you -Find 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell and 1 thing you can taste.
This is called grounding. It can help when you feel like you have lost control of your surroundings.
GO GREEN HOUSE, GO GREEN HOUSE, GO GREEN HOUSE!!
Maths Competition Please write the correct answer, cut out and place the problem in the Maths Competition box, located next to lost property in the office. You can complete the problem as a family or individual. A winner of a $5 canteen voucher is drawn at Friday’s assembly. Good luck.

Walking School Bus Tomorrow we will have our final walking bus for the term. It will leave the corner of Washington Drive and Riverside Avenue at 8:30am. Everyone is welcome to come aboard and even ‘catch’ the bus on the way to school. The bus will continue to be supervised by local police and Neighbourhood Watch. Mrs Elle King has been our ‘driver’/supervisor since we started the Walking Bus. We would like to thank Elle for her commitment to the Walking Bus and value the time she has put in to keeping the Walking Bus going. Unfortunately Elle can no longer be the ‘bus driver.’ We wish you all the best Elle, in your new role. We have a position for a new ‘driver’. If you are interested in supervising the Walking Bus, once a month on a Friday please contact Marion Vorwerk. [[email protected]]
